Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Makes sense, so if the sire is a kwpn and the dam is a Selle it should turn out kwpn dominant right?

Yep! The foal takes the sire's breed in the case of 50/50 crosses.

If I bred two identical 50/50 Shetland/Selle crosses (Shetland dominant), would the foal also be Shetland dominant?

Whenever I've bred two horses with the same breed percentages in their genetics, the foal's taken the dam's last listed breed. I haven't bred one for awhile, so you may want to breed a test foal to be sure.

I’m going to start a cross breeding project, though this is my first time doing something like this.
Does anyone have any recommendations for good breed mixes? I’d prefer classical as I’m more familiar with it, but can try Western as I have a bunch of Western tack in my storage that is wasting away default smiley :p. The horse must be a good competition winner with potential to win rosettes when I breed higher GP.
Are there any very good Selle mixes? Holsteiner mixes? I have a bunch of these horses, some Selles with too low GP for my team, and a bunch of Holsteiners I bred before getting into Selles.

Thanks!

We have a new top Shetland! She's a cross with a Selle.

Some options:

Tennesse walker: Trot, Stamina, dressage, speed, jumping, gallop
Hackney: Trot, Stamina, dressage, speed, jumping, gallop
Standardbred: Trot, speed, stamina, dressage, jumping, gallop
Peruvian Paso: Trot, speed, dressage, Stamina, jumping, gallop
French Trotter: trot, dressage, speed, jumping, stamina, gallop
Curly: Stamina, Trot, Speed, dressage, gallop, jumping
Friesian: Dressage, Trot, Stamina, Gallop, Jumping, Speed
Lustiano: Dressage, Trot, Gallop, jumping, stamina, speed
Nokota: Dressage, Trot, Jumping, stamina, speed, gallop
Knabstrupper: dressage, trot, jumping, gallop, speed, stamina

Personally, I'd opt for a Curly as that will help keep your Stamina and Speed up without too much gallop sacrifice. Standardbred would also be a good option but you'd be sacrificing more gallop skills. And, unless you are looking for an all around balance, stay away from Nokotas and Knabs as the have the total opposite top 3 skills.

Hi! I'm doing a breeding project where I'm trying to end up with a horse with all riding horse and pony breeds. But of course, I do want the horse to have high GP and good skills in three areas. Right now, I have bred two pairs of horses to get two colts (Alder and Cayden). Then I purchased fillies for them to breed with when they grow older (Penny and Genesis).

My current legacy is with Alder right now who has 8 breeds currently (I'm not counting Quarter Horse since it's too small for it to make a difference):
Alder - Gen 4 - M - Chestnut Spotted Blanket - 25% Appaloosa, 18.75% Selle Français, 17.3% Marwari, 12.5% Shetland, 12.5% Camargue, 6.3% Fjord, 6.25% Highland Pony, 1.2% KWPN, 0.2% Quarter Horse, Son of Rosalba and Dan - 9687.55 GP

I want Alder and Penny's foal to be the opposite gender of Cayden and Genesis' foal so they can breed together just like Alder's parents were able to, but I might not be as lucky as I used to be (after all, I'm getting three Chestnut Spotted Blanket males in a row) (you'd have to look at my forum to see what I did when I started the challenge (and I promise I'm not advertising, just want some feedback)).

Thanks for all your help! default smiley ;)

Also fully blupped/bolded horses. Selling those. But yeah, mostly cows. Longhorn cows.

Honestly though, you're not wrong.

Depends. On this server I do very mild crossbreeding projects that are for fun, not to produce top horses. On my US server, I breed top Paint crosses.

Item funding: I use BMIs from my inventory and only crossbreed when time/items allow. I always have a ton of aging points on hand as well. Usually promos are very helpful for this. As of late, not so much.

Equus funding: Seriously, have cows. Leather is a huge help for equus on this game. If you have workshops you can convert the leather into bonus items and get even more equus. (Literally I keep a few million worth of equus in lunges in my inventory.) But really there's so many ways to get equus.

Pass funding: Ehh I don't really use them in crossbreeding. I can't really sell the foals for passes on this server anymore because of the GP races. I know if you're looking to crossbreed high GP horses though, passes are more needed, but I just go about getting those from daily objectives and horse sales, etc.

Well, i have a star horse named ... with air element. She is really good at trail class. Is there a breed i should breed her with and a BMI i should use to make a good horse?

If you want to stick with the trail class business, a Nokota or Knabstrupper would be the best to cross with.

As far as BMIs, A. Tears used on your ... mare when you breed her will increase the foal's IBS. Any customization items (apples, 5thE, M. Blood, etc) will give a skill bonus. Bonus packs are never a bad idea. Companions help too (again, if sticking with the trail idea, look for a companion that gives a dressage, trot, or jump bonus).

Another pretty good jumper option is ShetlandxSelle. The top shetland team offers crossbreeding covers, and when bred with the right Selle mare produces a foal capable of topping the Shetland breed rankings. I have a few up there myself, ɖɛʋɨʟ'ֆ ɦօքֆƈօȶƈɦ and Ṯḧḕ ḊḕṼḭḶ ẆḭṮḧḭṆ Ẏṏṳ. I haven't bothered tweaking the percentages since it's going pretty well, but someday probably has.

100% it depends on what you are going for, but the most common that I personally have seen is Knab/Nokota since they have the same top 3 skills. Knab/Lusitano is up there as well.

I need a project, and I love cross breeding. My goal was to get the first horse with 2,000 GP in all areas, which I'm fairly sure I did (I think it was the first, if not one of the few firsts). But now I'm kinda projectless... not sure what to do, though I think I want it to be a cross breeding project. Anyone have any ideas or need help with any projects?

(Sorry to rain on your parade, I had the first 2,000gp in all areas I know of from about 18 months ago default smiley :s default smiley :$)

I would recommend trying the all breed cross, it's pretty fun!
