[Info] Cross breeders
Friesian is the breed you want the foal listed as? If you're using two KWPNxFriesian crosses, you should be able to use the filly you linked to because Friesian is listed second. In crosses that are equal percentages of the same breeds the foal should take the mother's last listed breed. I haven't bred any of those for awhile, so I'd need to do a test foal to be sure nothing's changed.

Friesian is the breed I want, and I have considered using the filly. It is just that I want it to be a continuing line. I don't know, I have just never had this many issues trying to breed a horse that will work for the line. Yeah, it was a pain at times, but never this bad.

I just went back and looked at my breeding logs. I was absent for a while and just came back a few weeks ago. Since then, I have bred 14 horses with the goal of producing a Friesian dominant 50/50 cross with Friesian listed second. Every single one of those horses have Friesian listed first. I have a feeling this might not be a case of just bad luck. And if it is, it is one extreme case.

Hmm, I'll run a couple of experiments to see what happens for me.
I recently bred a Knab dominant KnabxNoko cross, and Knab was listed first for that. On preprod I bred a Walker dominant NewfiexWalker cross with the same Newfie mother I linked above, and that one has Newfie listed first.
|
Thank you! I looked back at the last 4 pages of this forum, and have found only one 50/50 cross where the dominant breed was listed second. I am genuinely curious about what is going on here as I have never had this much trouble getting a horse with the dominant breed listed second.
|
Well, I've bred about 7 foals, using a combination of different parents, and the dominant breed was always listed first.
I bred this Walker dominant cross twice, because I've bred her a few times back in 2017 to the same stallion I bred her to today, and thus have a few foals to compare from. From her 2017 crop, only 1/3 had the dominant breed (Newfie) listed first. The two had the dominant breed listed 2nd. A 2019 foal from the pair went along with the two from the first batch and had Newfie listed 2nd. The two I bred today had Newfie listed first. In summary, for this pair that has been bred 6 times across a 3 year span, 3/6 had the dominant breed listed first. I bred Aquamarine and Inchworm on preprod, and this foal had Newfie listed 2nd. I'm not sure if something wonky is happening on the live version (and perhaps if it is, that the version of preprod we're on has fixed itself), or if we're both having a coincidental, yet seriously terrible run of bad luck.
|
*facepalm* I should have a gone for a 4-way cross to test since the odds of getting the dominant breed listed first are lower.
I've bred Claire and Jamie 4 times in the past. One of those, born a year ago next month, did have the dominant breed listed first. All 3 of today's foals had the dominant breed listed first. I bred Claire and Jamie on preprod, and the foal had Paso listed first.
|
That is really, really interesting. I guess I will just sideline my project and focus on training them up until this is fixed (or improves).
|
I'm going to hazard a guess that it could possibly be fixed by either the update that we'll likely see next week (since it's the first week of the month), or the next month for sure, because this preprod session is still over a month away from going live. I didn't do any breeding test last session to know if the breeding issue was on last preprod or not.

Miserable at Best
One of my first attempts at a crossbreed and honestly I'm pretty happy with him lol

Does anyone else feel a little defeated when your skiller foals just get picked up by hoarders and flip-sellers? My affix is full of foals who have just been left collecting dust as trophies.
|
As a hoarder, no If someone is willing to pay x amount for a horse I want to sell I don't care what they do with it
But as to the rationale behind hoarding: often when I pick up a horse, it means I have a project in mind but just haven't gotten to it yet.

Does anyone have a list of breeds that have stamina as their first or second skill?
|
Hello everyone!
As some of you may or may not have known, I have been on a semi-hiatus for a little over a year now. I popped on occasionally to keep my account running but never stuck around for long. I am tentatively back, and am still focusing on my Kerry Bog crosses under the affix of "Kryptonite". Just wanted to come by and say hello! I'm looking forward to seeing all of your projects as I peruse the forum pages from the last year. Have a wonderful day! - sparklewind

According to my Excel sheet, here are the current breeds as I've listed them: - Stamina as primary stat: akhal-teke, arabian, argentinean criollo, barb, camargue, canadian, curly, gypsy vanner, icelandic horse, shagya arabian, connemara, haflinger, highland pony, kerry bog, quarter pony. - Stamina as secondary stat: brumby, hackney, irish hunter, marwari, mustang, russian don, tennessee walker, fjord. My personal project is going to mix and match different breeds for western competitions: right now I'm really interested in seeing how well a marwari x mustang crossbreed will do in barrel racing. For some reason I've always thought marwaris were a reining breed because of their ridiculous amount of skill in gallop, was shocked to realize it wasn't the optimal competition for their top skills. Now I intend to fix that, ha. |
Is there any limit to how many breeds one how can be? I'm thinking about trying to make a foal that is a little bit of even riding horse breed there is, would that even be possible?
|
Yes, only the 5 breeds with the highest percentage will show up in the genetics tab.
United II is my 2nd "All Breed" project. She has all of the riding horse and pony breeds up to the Camargue in her line, but only 5 of those breeds are displayed.

Hi everyone! I used to play howrse way back when on the UK server, and I loved cross-breeding. But it's been years and I'm a little rusty
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good informational guide into how it all works, with the dominant breeds and skills and such? And/or any recommendations on a good 50/50 cross to start with? Thanks all, and have a lovely day Spell

What does everybody cross with mustangs mares?
|
It really bothers me how teams hold high GP horses. For example, with the Paint Horses, they have horses just meeting 16000+ GP and in the sales every horse is below 14900 GP !! I even asked a team administrator for a covering for my cross breeding project but I was ignored.
Shoutout to all the teams who offer coverings to crossbreeders, you are very much appreciated.

Imagine how crazy team breeding would be if there wasn’t a sales release though, with Selles it’s just crazy how many high GP teams there are, it’s done for a reason. Team’s put a lot of effort into gaining such high GP. Although it’s odd you were straight up ignored |
Tallahassee might actually be the start of a new project. I'm considering repeating the match so I've got a set. I'm eager to see what she reaches in terms of over-all.
|
So I want to try and get a good croosbreed with QH and Paint. Is there any trick, tips or hitns for me to get a good or even closely desired results? I want to see if it'll be a good grab Prix winner compares to the bird need parents. I'm asking to compete them in gallop races. Any help is appreciated, thank you!
|
Well, they have worked very hard to build up a lead. No one else is entitled to their fairly earned gains (I know that isn't what you are implying though .)
As for no reply, most teams state their gp release on their page--if they don't explicitly say they are cross friendly, it is normal for any PMs regarding gp release to be ignored because they get so many of them. As someone who leads a top team and is a member of another top team, I do try to reply to PMs regarding gp release but it is pretty common for one to slip through the cracks, when our gp release is already stated.
|
QHs have Gallop, Dressage, and Speed as their top 3. Paints have Speed, Dressage, and Gallop. So you really can't go wrong...I'd say check sales and coverings gp and determine which combo would give you the highest gp foal.
