It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

Been gone a while but back and at it, I'm looking to join up with a couple people to make a NIB Vanner team, is anyone interested? It would be pretty laid back because I'm a stay at home mom dealing with school aged kids but I'd love to expand my gene pool for my Vanners. Any takers?

I would do a search filter for GP < the current found GP. It's a rolling GP now, so it changes. If you don't want to do that math, on my page, I try to regularly update the current base foundation GP. I try to do it weekly but sometimes it's a couple of weeks.

So when I am searching, filter out GP < 5800 for example (plus breed and purebred). Then I filter my genetics search from highest to lowest. Then I look for any skills that are zero, for foals, if I can get them, I prefer clean, untrained foals for proper BLUPing and foal game gains. Unfortunately, I have found that is the best way to use filters to narrow it down.

From there, I check the horses that don't have high skills, and manually go through to check that Ouranos and Gaia are the parents. Some sellers have labeled low-skilled or zero-skilled horses as foundies. It is best to check first because I have seen some that clearly are not foundies. It is time consuming but if you want the foundies you have to really look. It's not so easy as it was in the old days to just do a search for 350 GP. Those are still out there but pricey. Some people are doing original 350GP foundies, you can play that way too.

IF THERE IS A BETTER WAY TO FILTER FOR FOUNDIES, PLEASE SOMEONE TELL USdefault smiley (l)

I had a G4 Arab NIB project with 350GP horses (this was on my old account that was deleted due to inactivity). I had 32 foundation horses for 16 pairs, then 4 generations out from those 16 foundation pairs. (Spreadsheets!!)default smiley (lol)

I don't think I am going that route as it doesn't matter anymore. In the past we were making NIB projects with the intention to start from scratch and make a line that had 1 star. With rolling gains that isn't the point any more.

And somedays, I wonder why I even do it; wondering what is the point when you have rolling GP anyway.

Filtering excellence stars is a great way of getting a range of GP. So for example if you're looking for recent foundies, or ones from a certain event, you should look to see how many excellence stars they would have. Then you search for stars greater than that number and below the GP they have, as well as from the month they're from.

I didn't even think of searching by stars! Great idea! Thanks!

Is anyone going to be working with the rolling GP Selle Français unis? I think I'm starting a new program for that and would love to find others who are doing the same!

I was wondering if I were to breed skiller's (assuming these were nib, to begin with) how many horses would it take to ensure they stayed nib?
By Retired breeder, 23rd September 2020 15:02:03

A lot. How many specifically depends on how many generations you plan to breed. 1 generation = 2 foundation horses. 2 generations = 4 foundation horses. 3 generations = 8 foundation horses... 6 generations = 64 foundation horses if I did my math correctly. Especially if you plan to get to a higher gp, you'd have to breed for a long, long, time.
In addition to the above, you would need more generations to reach a high GP than other breeders, because high GP gains are generally achieved through inbreeding (which is fine, by the way - pixels don't have chromosomes, so there's no reason NOT to inbreed).

Even if an NIB-breeder and a non-NIB breeder start a new breed at the same time and BLUP at the same pace, the NIB breeder will be at a disadvantage GP-wise. Most who NIB do so at a slower pace, as an alternative to trying to keep up with the skiller race. default smiley :)

Glad to see this thread is still alive and kicking.
MIA a lot for the next while. Been sick with slipped discs these last 2 months.
Had surgery on the 21st. 3 slipped ruptured discs fixed. Bone fragments removed to make room for some pinched nerves and more.
I’m very fatigued all the time, as to be expected. But the pain is close to gone default smiley (7). So now all I need is to be very careful for the next 4 weeks. Then rehab, and then we’ll see.

I try to get online as much as I can...but I get tired fast

Oh my! Glad to hear you're moving in the right direction and we can't wait to have you back soon! I know back pain is the worst pain ever so glad to hear that the pain is receded. Did they put plates/screws and spacers in for you?

Indeed wouldn’t wish such pain for anyone.
No they didn’t fuse or imobilize part of the spine, thank heavens.
The surgeon did talk to me on several occations after the operation. This round is my final warning. I need to be very careful from now on.
I’m super independent and like to manage things myself. Should be quite a challenge this.

Did I mention I super happy the tablet was invented default smiley (lol)default smiley (lol)

This kind of question belongs in the Game Play forum... here's a link to that.
I believe they meant how to enter a horse in a competition. For that, your horse must be at least 3 years of age. On the right side of your horse's page, there is a section labeled "Competitions". There, you can choose your horse's specialty, outfit it with tack, and then you will be able to enter the different types of competitions. This information can be found in the Breeder's Manual (link here).
Hello, I've returned after 5yrs and well I'm at a loss. How do any of you manage wins on old foundation with the lower gp? It's almost daunting right now to start back up my farm.

Honestly Loti, a lot of filling parties on the discord! It's close to impossible to get wins on your own!

Guess I need to make a few new friends then. Hahahaha I noticed too that finding foundies in sales is pretty hard now. So much has changed but still the same. The foundie issue kinda reminds me of what it was like finding 350 or above NIB so many years ago. Well if anyone needs any help feel free to message me. I got a few horses that I could part with. I think I am going to stick to one breed. 2 programs running sounds like a little too much now.

Hello all. I am a returning player and am a little lost in my game. So much has changed. I prefer NIB horses and am looking to add to my herd. I am interested in Foundation horses and short lined horses. I am also looking for foundation studs to breed to. I breed Arabians, Friesians and Quarter Horses. Please message me if anyone can help, thanks in advance.

I have a small hoard of maybe 40ish 351.2 GP foundation curly horses if any NIBer is needing any to add to their stock. Ages/gender range and they have various amounts of work done to them, if any (most have none to very, very little training done). Not trying to make a for sale post. I would give them for free if I could. PM me if interested.
