The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

The disappeared lines is why I don't buy 1st Gen NIB horses from who I don't know that breed them. Because if that line were to disappear, I'd have to start all over again and that would be really frustrating.

Well, one thing I've started doing, when I do buy a second gen is to take screenshots of the pedigrees. Then I just keep them in one of my folders on my desktop if I need them for future reference.

But, since I've got fewer resources for grabbing tons of first gen ouranos/gaia horses from sales, I tend to have more use for second gens when I find them.

People used to screen shot too, but there was trust issues with the screenshots because of the ability to photoshop them. So we never relied on that tactic either.

Perhaps, I think it'd be entirely too much trouble to try to match things exactly enough to photoshop it, but that's just me.

Hopefully, I can eventually build up enough of a foundation group that I won't need outside born second gens, but right now the lack of resources is killing me. Can't compete with wealthy players for foundation horses in sales for the breeds I need.

The original foundation horses have GPs of 350 (unplayed) to 352.1 (played games).
I set the GP for 352 when I'm hunting original foundies.

If the games were played correctly the GP will be 352.1; it'll be less if not played all the way or done incorrectly.

Well now I don't feel so lonely in my quest to collect uni drafts.

Yeah my activity on here became limited due to trying to do work type things but that isn't exactly an issue anymore.

I have begun another ACTIVE NIB breeder list so please feel free to pm me your information so I can add you in!

This will hopefully help everyone know who they can help out!

Pondering over something.

How can we track the new GP when its a rolling gain? So If I was to restart my game today I would get a high GP correct?

So how does it make it fair ground when trying to compare? Or is this one of many reasons as to why NIB is slowing dying?

It's dyed quite a bit since RG foundations appeared.

Can kind of see why. It must be so difficult to get wins now with O GP without using fillers all the time.

And then the new GP seems kind of hard to track.

Ive always NIBed when playing this so Im finding it really hard for what else to do default smiley (8)

I also cant believe how expensive everything has got, like some players must be paying a fortune for all the subscriptions, employees, divines etc.

It's not fair ground, which is why we separate the OG (350-351.2 GP) from RG (anything else).

It died a lot after the change. Many put a lot of money into their projects and Howrse changing it to RG was a huge slap in the face to us.

But even separating them , because the RG GP is forever improving as such its hard to then track. I could spend months breeding/BLUPing to produce a 1G horse that has say 8 GP (I know its not possible just easier numbers) then because of the way the new GP works someone could come along new to the game and there foundation would have say 10 GP.

So how does that work?

Im sure it was. Seems a lot of people are unhappy with all the changes from what I can find from having a little smooch.

I can go into detail later but quest that is basically why there are now starrage and gens behind the horses to be able to compare projects.
