Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

what is the best cross with a KWPN for dressage.
By Retired breeder, 14th April 2020 02:19:12

I'd probably look for breeds that are high in Trot and Gallop and low in Jump. Lusitanos are the only dressage breed I've worked with on this server, and they have relatively high trot, so that might be a good choice.

If you want a horse that is definitely based in Dressage, has the looks of a KWPN, and don't care so much about GP, make sure that you buy a high GP dressage-based mare to breed to a SIGNIFICANTLY lower GP KWPN stud (3-5K GP gap should do it). Or you could try crossing Western Pleasure and Reining horses and breed the result to a KWPN. It all depends on what your goals are, your resources, and how you want to go about breeding your cross.

Okay thanks

Hi, cutting crossbreeding is kinda my thing, so thought I would answer your question. First off, GV's are normally a terrible choice for these crossbreeds (unless they are 2nd+ gen) as they are stamina killers. Arabs are a much better choice. Fjords, are better than mustangs for speed.

Here are the links to my projects.

GV's kill speed, not stamina

Pinga my paint project from last month is still #10 in paint stamina, #2 in paint jump, #1 in paint dressage and #3 overall. I'm so happy with how she turned out!

This boy has to be one of my all-time favorite crosses I've done. If only I could get my hands on the horses necessary to do another...

My team, Cainhurst Vilebloods, the #1 Marwari team is open to covers for crossbreeding if you need them default smiley ^)

I guess I do need to get started on that list lol
By Retired breeder, 17th April 2020 00:48:59
If anyone knows any teams that are Crossbreeder Friendly, post in my forum or PM me, I'm trying to start a list here. The goal is to have at least one team for each horse/pony breed listed eventually, so we can find coverings more easily.

Thank you!

After a lengthy break from breeding I'm really happy with this guy. Echoes is ranked 4 in stamina, 3 in gallop, 1 in dressage, and 5 in overall skills for his breed!

What would be a good breed to cross with a Friesian to get a high GP for a friesian?
By Retired breeder, 22nd April 2020 16:29:21
hi there (: i've started a paint x tb project (t's a year old today!), and was wondering if anyone (maybe with more paints than tbs) would be interested in joining in? attached is the link. please feel free to pm me for more info!

thanks (:

You could try Lusi x (WP/trot breed) x (Reining/gallop breed). Play around with the breed percentages a bit until you get the mix you want.

Hi! I'm an old player returning, though I never used to care about breeding at all, I'd just get the prettiest horses default smiley ;)

I do think cross breeding seems interesting, and I'm wonderinging if anyone has any tips? Or a sort of guide? Is the goal just to get better horses than the purebreeds? Or more specialized for certain competitions? Since returning I've gotten the sense that purebred horses are more desirable than crossbred ones.

Purebred horses are often more desireable, for a variety of reasons, the main reason being teams. You can't use crossbred stock in a team affix. As a result of this, there aren't many formal competitive crossbred breeding groups, and GP tends to be lower. It's extremely difficult to get a crossbred with GP higher than the top purebred, but you can usually cross high GPs and get good rankings in the lower GP breeds.

The goal of crossbreeding depends on the person. You could be breeding to replicate an IRL cross, or breeding for a specific competition, or even skills, or looks, or high GP (or most of the above!).

My advice is to experiment until you find a cross (or a breed) that you'd like to spend some time exploring.
I am looking for some one that can bred with my gingerbread, she is in my divine tab, if I am in the wrong post sorry, thank you.

You are in the wrong post. In addition, gingerbread can only be covered by (whatever his name is) if you own him.
My two girls are finally BLUPed and I'm super excited for them.

Katteghera will be going to a French Trotter cross on her next availability.
Phespharo will be going to a Hano or Selle cross.

I'm out of Tears for now but I'm using the Arcade promo to bring in a few default smiley xd

When you look at a foals family tree and and see only your affix. It finally happened with my new foal Radio who also appears to be a clone of her mother with her mix of breeds.

In case you're wondering about my crosses, they are not bred for a particular purpose, instead they started when I decided I was just gonna breed all of my best horses together.

That's an... interesting cross lol!

So I'm looking for as high GP a Marwari (purebred) as possible to breed to my TB/GV cross. Waiting to BLUP her until I can locate one.
