Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

It's been. what, 6 months? Anyways, I'm back on this account, and literally the first thing I did was buy a high GP Selle. What other breeds are high GP? Are Gypsy Vanners still good? I'm thinking maybe an XC cross...
I love to crossbreed in this game and irl. At home, we crossbreed almost all our cows. Anyway, my crossbreeding farm is called "(I was gonna say but not until I get my next affix so no one steals it)" and I used to be extremely good on my old account. But we I got this account I started with my PB paints, and for a while I hated crossbreds, idk why, I used Cross all the time on my old accountdefault smiley (lol)

When I had my big crossbreeding breeding farm on my old account I had a Vanner that was 50% Vanner
25% Paint
12.5% Kerry Bog
12.5% Fjord
She was actually pretty good, she was fully Blupped and everything. My favorites were the Fjord/Selle crosses tho
I would breed a Selle X Lustaino to a Vanner if I were you though!

I have a quick question regarding what breed a potential foal could be. Sorry if this gets confusing really fast!

So I have a 50/50 Selle/KWPN cross and a 50/50 Selle/Holstein cross. I am going to breed both of them to pure Hanos making two foals that are Selle/KWPN/Hano (Foal 1) and Selle/Holstein/Hano (Foal 2).

If I breed Foal 1 and Foal 2 together, will that foal end up as a hano or a selle?

It should end up being a Hano because that should have the greatest percentage.
Foal 1 should be 25/25/50 (Selle/KWPN/Hano)
Foal 2 should be 25/25/50 (Selle/Holstein/Hano)

Therefore, your final foal should be (roughly): 12.5/12.5/25/50 (KWPN/Holst/Selle/Hano).

I think my math is right, but I do believe I have some foals with similar percentages to your first two that I can check with.

@LegacyAnn Thank you so much! I figured that's what would happen but I also wanted to check to make sure haha

You're welcome!
Just to confirm, I bred a test foal on preprod with the same percentages, and it did come out the equivalent of the Hano, which is KWPN in my case.

The Lusitano is your Selle equivalent, because both parents had 25% Lusitano.

I picked up two cross-breds for my "disappeared horse" collection: M 8054.29 and F 7531.36. Going to BLUP them both and hopefully start breeding some cross-country monsters. default smiley :)

So, I've been breeding Selles for a bit now, but I've got the problem where they're top three (jumping, dressage, speed) are really high, and the others (gallop, trot, stamina) are considerably lower.

What breeds are good at gallop, trot and stamina. I know there's tbs for gallop, lusitano (my memory might be failing me here) and GVs for stamina, but is there a breed that has all three as their top skills, or at least two? I'm just trying to figure out the best breed to get up a selles lower skills, while keeping on improving the GP.

Not a cross breeder but, I do know that the breed of the foal will always be the breed of the stallion's!

In a direct 50/50 cross it will, but it gets more complicated the more breeds you adddefault smiley :)

-Two 50/50 (or 25/25/25/25) with no breeds shared between the parents will produce a foal who takes the sire's second listed breed.
-If the parents share the same breeds, then it takes the mother's last listed breed
-in other crosses it'll be the breed with the highest percentage.

I have had a few oddities over the years, but most will follow the rules above. I try to breed a test foal beforehand (especially if I'm using breeding items), just in casedefault smiley (lol)

how exactly does cross-breeding work? I bred a pure-blood uni with a half uni and got a non-uni.
Hi, everyone! I've shown this cross before. He was bred back in 2012 as part of a really cool project. A really cool, successful project! There's probably a few others around like him by now, but still! So, here's App-timum Trio, a perfect 3-way 33.3% cross.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by a "half-uni"? You can only breed unicorns of the same breed with each other. It used to be possible to breed unicorns with non-unicorns (although there was no chance of producing a unicorn that way), but no longer.

Cross breeding is breeding horses of different breeds together. So breeding a purebred Appaloosa to a purebred Thoroughbred, or even breeding crossbreds themselves together.

This horse is a simple 50/50 cross, because he just has two different breeds in his genetics.
This one is much more complicated. She actually has every riding horse and pony breed on the game in her heritage, but the genetics tab will only display the 5 breeds with the highest percentage.

Bred this guy the other day.
He's part of a twin set and I'm considering Bolting his brother and seeing if I can get some covers from a few different teams to see what mixes it produces.
He's also currently up for stud, if anyone wants to help me test him default smiley xd I've yet to buy more mares for breeding because I haven't been active much lately.

What's everyone CB goals for February?

Are TB, Marwari, and Gypsy Vanner crosses any good? Looking to breed TB and Marwari mainly if there are any better crosses

I bred one several months back as a reining Grand Prix experiment, and also entered a TBxMar and GVxTB crosses that same day, too, to compare their placing.

Here is that post, with links to the horses. it's not too bad of a cross because they each have fairly decent skill distributions for reining. But it also depends which breed you want to be dominant as well.

I usually look at the top horses with the skill set I'm wanting my crosses to have, to give me an idea of how high I need to aim for. Then I look at genetics in sales and public covers, and start plugging numbers into my spreadsheet to see which pairings can get me close to those top horses. The foal's GP is roughly the average of the parents, with a +-4 random factor involved. Also, the further away from top GP you are, the higher your gain is going to be.
Here's the generic spreadsheet I set up

In case anyone is interested, I crossed a Tennessee Walker and a Selle and this the result - Nico. He appears to be best for cutting. If you have any idea what might be good to cross him with then just say.

I keep ending up with stallions, but this French Trotter experiment is actually pretty decent! He flew through his 20 wins like no tomorrow.

Hey, I'm kind of new to crossbreeding, but thought it would be cool to cross a Friesian with a Camargue. Any ideas of what kinds of comps I should enter this guy in when he gets a little older?
Glowing Onyx

Anything with dressage as the top skill, I'd say. So Dressage or Trial class, or possibly Reining.

^^and on.

Although, I'd recommend re-breeding that mare after she reaches 100 BLUP because that will then improve the skills her foals. For example, Serene is a foal I've bred and his skills with no training or games at all are 2912.10. Both of his parents have 100 BLUP and that is why his skills are that good. When he is fully trained it is likely he will have a similar amount of skills to his father, who has 17208.95. The lower the in-born skills means the lower end skills, therefore if you want that combination breeding at 100blup will improve the outcome and the likelihood of wins.
