thunder76,
there is no improving needed on a Paint/Quarter cross. *snickers* Thats what I breed. I always try to breed back to a pure bred every other cross instead of breeding my crosses back to other crosses, I find that it is a faster way to climb up in the skills department. |

Hmmm. I'll have to try that zepharo.

My latest effort in developing a crick in my mouse hand and in developing my Friesian mixes. Doppleganger.
And introducing Lightspeed out of Quicksilver and Doppleganger. I am very pleased with Lightspeed. She tricked me. Thought I was going to get Friesian or Thoroughbred. Sneaky little pixy! ps: yup, Quicksilver had a run in with a lightning bolt....

I do not cross breed. It reduces the price of the horse. But i have a few... It's a rule of mine not to breed cross breeds.

Should I:
Bolt http://www.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=9626908 And breed her to: Arab, Paint/ IH or any cross bred horses in mind guys? |

frooogy - Actually if the Crossbred turns out to be Elite then they sell for quite a bit. Crossbreds are not worthless like alot of people think.

I have a Paint X IH X QH thats doing really well so far. 1008 skills and she hasn't been clouded yet! Does great in SJ and Barrels. Can't wait for the outcome!

Strange as this may seem I just impulse-bought a 20* Quarter Horse Colt (this one I understand, high stars, only 3500e when the next one up was 15,000) and a 22* Arab Filly (this one I don't) and I plan to breed out a high *stamina Quarter Horse from them. Ur. Random much? lol. Has anyone else tried this? If so, please could I be cheeky and ask for some tips.

Hmmm, Just been looking at some stats. I'll probabley add some hano to the mix as well, just to nudge up the jump.

I never thought this would fascinate me this much! This just gets better! Hanovarians, while high on jump are also high on gallop, something that is ver Quarter Horseish, and the stamina is pretty low. May scrap that idea.
Quarter Pony, another brainstorm, will push the stamina to a reasonable level but will kill the jump seriously, which I'll need for X-country competitions. So regular infusions of Russian Don to maintain, the gallop, boost the jump and steady the stamina would be good, I thought. However Shetlands provide a far better prospect. Super high jump, acceptable stamina for what I need and low gallop to counter the Quarter Horse strength. Regular support of both breeds would mount the skills I'm valueing to the sort of thing I'm thinking of. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to snap up some Shetland, Russian and Quarter Pony bargains for this project I've now obsessed myself with! Thoughts? |

I'm going to start breeding Anglo Arabs as I covered my 100% Arab with a 100%Thoroughbred. Do you have any tips?
|
frooogy, I had more fun breeding my Welsh crossbred Trotters (with Trot as one of top two skills) than I ever had breeding purebreds, and I don't sell them usually so don't care what other people think they are worth.

I'm breeding Arab x TBs. They're working out alright. I've got one mare that is over 600 skills and climbing. I also have no BM items on her. With my mares I breed them to the opposite breed. Ex, I breed an Arab mare to a TB stud, and a TB mare to an Arab stud. That way the offspring are no more TB than Arab and so on. I hope that this plan of mine works out.

I plan to start breeding quarabs( quater horses x Arabians) and Appys x Thorobreds when I get the time, BM items, and equus.

Paintedmare,
If this doesn't seem out of line what do you think my Friesian/Hano crossed mare could sell for? She #3 overall Friesians - was number 2. She also holds the #1 position of Friesians for jumping, and she has that lead by around 30 points. I don't really know all the undercurrents, of what people really look for in crosses. I'm just doing my own thing Thanks for any help you can offer. -MD |

frooogy you are wrong they sell for A LOT IF they are bred properly and have bm items and are in the elte rankings. in real life, crossbreds sell for MILLIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes this is a fact because i work with VERY fancy hunter jumper and equitation horses.
