Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you
zepharo

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

No, sorry, can't have a donuni or a unidonk. Unis can only breed with other unis, and donkeys only with other donkeys.

thank you Clematis. default smiley :d

Cosair is nice. I would bold him in Speed and dressage then run in gallop until you get your 20 wins. Shouldn't be that hard to grab those wins as long as you don't train in gallop until after you have your 20.

1010marina,
distracting is he? default smiley (lol)

thank you MiataManiac
Thanks zepharo, are you using your modly powers to read my mind?
That was my plan given his lower speed.
I like to do the training after my wins, learned the hard way one too many times in my early days on the game. Now I listen to the folks who know what they are doing!default smiley ;)

At what age can you put on a WOY?

I always train in Dressage and speed first then work on getting my wins before I do any other training. I have found that this method works with every breed I have ever blupped.

freedomreins,
It is best to use water at age 2 to get max lessons gain. default smiley ;)

Thanks zepharo default smiley :)
I agree completely! It doesn't matter if it is pure or cross. I have found, though on some of my recent Friesian crosses that I have to hold back on speed training or they are running against howrses that are finished or almost finished. If I need a speed boost, I will do small increments or short rides in the skill I need a boost in. Works like a charm!

Here are my newest crosses. I need to finish blupping but these are the foals.

Sabrien, Mistral Vib's son

Angie, BronzeLight's daughter

When the foals are blupped, i might breed them together! I wonder what breed they would come out as?
By Retired breeder, 15th April 2010 21:41:16
nice horsies. It would be a toss up as to what breed they would be if you breed them together. They could be either but you may find that they end up being the breed of the fathers mother.
Great thread and some pretty awesome horses!default smiley :o This one I did last weekend, he made number 1 spot in speed on the Canadian board.

I would guess that the foal - if they were bred together would be Standardbred. If you kept the genders the same. If you bolted them, they'd should be Quarter Horses.

At least that's what happened when I did stuff like that.
By Retired breeder, 16th April 2010 01:55:52
THat was a really cool howrse! breed it and see what happens.
By Retired breeder, 16th April 2010 02:29:15
i crossbreed my best horse is Bello Bellasara
i need a crossbreeding partner! Take a look at Greek Gods and Get In Line tabs to see my work! I've done many many many more horses than just those, though!

Also, thanks so much zepharo for making this! THANKS a billion times!default smiley :d Crossbreeding will dominate! Soon!

I am in need of a cross stally. I would like it to be good at trotting and stamina. (ex. Friesian x IH) the stally would be for my Newfie x Paint. She will be a show jumper.
By Retired breeder, 16th April 2010 03:46:48
I am so excited to show off my lovely guy:

Fusible Locus

I've said it before and I'll say it again . . . crosses are so much fun.
By Retired breeder, 16th April 2010 06:12:31
Cryfenril - Actually a Unicorn CAN breed with a HORSE but it won't be a Unicorn Foal. As far as Donkeys go so far they can only breed with another Donkey and only 3 times too.
By Retired breeder, 16th April 2010 06:18:38
Oh and before any Newbies out there ask it If you crossbred 2 Unicorns then NO you will NOT get a Unicorn Foal. I crossbred My 2 Favorite Unicorns just for FUN and because they are My Favorite Unicorns. Here is the Foal:
