Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

I breed Marwari/Arab/Irish Hunter horses.

And I have a dilemma =(

I have a Marwari mare, in the rankings, elite etc.. and I want to breed her (obviously). Here is her link as i don't know how to do a click-able one, lol.
http://www.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=9714166

HOWEVER

The foal I want MUST be Marwari by breed BUT as you can see the mother (above) is 50% Marwari, 25% Arab and 25% Irish Hunter.

What combination does the father need to be to ensure the foal is Marwari of breed? Please PM me the answer. Thank you!

Oh and by the way, if possible I DO NOT want to add another breed into the equation unless ABSOLUTELY necessary.

Thanks for your time!

Marwari? Maybe.
By Retired breeder, 9th April 2010 19:42:47
Or maybe. 95 - 50% Marwari?
By Retired breeder, 9th April 2010 19:45:53
Yes I know that Marwari would be the obvious choice but i want maximum inborn skills so Marwari wouldn't be a good choice.

But i will take on board your second post thanks.
By Retired breeder, 9th April 2010 19:47:47
Well, if I were you, I would try to find a Marwari that is from 95% - 50% Work out the GP & IBS then if you can use AT? Just a suggestion.
By Retired breeder, 9th April 2010 19:49:01
Thanks, i will do that. That means that if the foal is girl (or boy, will bolt it) it will be able to breed with IHs and Arabs.

Your horses are great The darkness, top job default smiley (y)
I dabble in crossing now and then but haven't had much luck until lately. I have a nice 19* paint x IH mare that I bred to a paint x IH and got another 19*. Also a paint x morgan 16*, a 20* paint x hano, and just to see what it would turn out like, a 16* morgan x IH.

They're nearly all still babies and can be seen by looking at my breeders production if anyone is interested. I can't wait til Howrse winter is over and I can train and compete them to see how they go default smiley :-))

The darkness- The irish hunter raised the Dressage and Jumping of the Paint, so yes a good XC horse. Take care, though, because it also raised Stamina a bit so you may have to go up against really good Paint horses who could beat you if you bold that out right away.

Mixes I have found to be good too:
(first horse listed is breed)
Hackney X Paint -> show jump, trot, and gallop races reserved for Hackneys
Brumby X Paint -> Results same as Hackney
Right now I'm doing Newfie X Quarter Horse, makes a pretty good horse to enter in Barrel comps reserved for Newfies, not one of my best mixes but I like the looks of the new Newfie graphics.

^Didn't really do well at all in XC I think trot is the best (:

I cant get my computer to cooperate, but heres one I bred. Check out the Show Jumping- I entered in a bunch of SJ races reserved for Hacks, and he only got beaten a few times by other really good Mixbreds.
