Thank you zepharo, for creating this topic!
I have a Super Mutt / All Star stallion with GP over 600, bred by Marcanon. He was one of the first of this kind in the game, and perhaps the first one to have been fully blupped? At least what comes to studs offering public coverings. I also now have a similar mare of my own breeding, GP over 700. Just had to get some use for my affix originally created for this project. (of Fuzzy Logic) I also crossbreed for competitions. Currently I'm training/blupping a trotting Newfie mare. But have been involved with other kinds of crosses too. My latest was a Shetland / IH presenting as Shetland. These horses are mainly found under "Skilling in progress" tab, but also "My horses". There are only a few purebreds. I've been into crossbreeding ever since early 2008, when I started with Arabian / Canadian crosses. In the Autumn of that year I became involved with Equal Skills / Super Mutt breeding. About blupping crosses: I treat them as purebreds. This means I might complete rides in short trotting first and then complete training in dressage and speed. Or I might just do some rides in short trotting and complete training in dressage and speed. I try to keep them a lot in the box, so they'll get the bonuses. More expensive that way of course. Fortunately the turnipses have been cheap lately. Anyway they start competitions quite early. These competitions would be showjumping, galloping and trotting. After the horses have gained at least most of the 20 wins, I bold jumping and move on to crosscountry. When the horses have all 20 wins, I move on to bolding all skills. Though if I'm just blupping the horse without skilling it, I don't bother with bolding all. In that case I just aim at bolding the 3 best. Always compete on the lowest level possible. |

My marwari is doing really well! Can't wait to finish BULP and BOLDing him though! I want to see what ranking he gets when finished, and what foals he is able to produce! Going to have to inbreed him though But it will be worth it, the foals should have 15stars!

I've been thinking of crossing my horses together, specifically breeding my Arab mares to my Paint stallion. I've bred all the mares to my Arab stallion first, and they produced reasonable foals. I'm wondering if this cross is a good idea, or whether it might be better to try another cross. Aren't Paints the 'wonder breed' that's good at everything?

I think so. I have one that is good at everything but barrel races (he has never competed in them).

What is a breed of horse that is good in trot and gallop?
|
By Retired breeder, 7th April 2010 02:00:27
I don't think there is one. I think you have to cross to get one good at both.
|
Tilly, If you want to see how that cross might work, depending on what the GP of the parents are, check out some of my skillers in my "super cross" tab

I have been thinking of crossing my arabs with my chincos. Has anyone tried that? If so how were the foals?
P.S. Anyone breed IH crosses? |

I'm thinking of starting a Friesian crossbreeding program, trying to get their Speed up. Never done crossbreeding before(appart from one, uh, *memorable* attempt at about 100 days lol). It should be interesting...
|
Sunny-I also have a chinco/arab cross-looks chinco...
|
Sorry, here is his link chinco/arab cross
|
I loove crossbreeding (:
My favorite cross so far is a PSHxHanoverian. My first cross like this, Venezuela, has over 100 wins in XC comps!

Oh! pixiesbite I love your horse! I am going to breed a chinco/arab cross tomorrow morning. I want to get a good comp foal of either gender but I want it to look like a chinco. Is there any way to determine what breed it will look like?
|
Sunny-yes there is-the mare must be the Arab...message me about a cover if you would like

I have a new Freisan/Irish Hunter Cross that my friend bred for me
|
I have three crossbreed programmes, and I am sincerely passionate about them all and would love to invite people to join me in breeding!
I have been breeding Anglos almost since I started on the game, but the two mares I have are sort of on hiatus... . Never mind though! They're neither of them 50/50 and have less than ten stars which is probably why! I know there are higher horses now (there weren't when I bred them!) but I bred both of my mares, so I don't wanna trade them in. Check them out in "Losing Nothing". I also breed Morgan/ Irish Hunter part breds. I only have one at the moment, and she has a little Arab in her so it's going to be a slow process breeding clear foals. See my one mare in "Fey Figure". Last and certainly not least is my Top Secret Hackney crossbreeding programme. It's Top Secret!! But I'm looking for a breeding partner, so anyone wanting to crossbreed Hackneys please PM me - or find out the secret by looking at my mare Firinne in the other horses tab. Thanks zepharo, for this. It's going to be great coming to see others ideas!

I don't get this:
I have a IH/Paint -50/50 It has around 1000 skills. Skills Total : 1001.87 Stamina 171.54 Speed 207.07 Dressage 245.11 Gallop 170.03 Trot 83.73 Jumping 124.39 But he does very well in trotting for the breed: Trot 38 16 19 I was wondering why he did very well in trotting thanks. |

The darkness: because of the dressage and speed. Secondary skills pretty much might determine the success, though it depends on the case of course.

diome, It's a IH, so is the trotting also high because of this?
Thanks |
Wow!
I don't play for one day and it's all changed!! Hoorah for a crossbreeding thread, long overdue. This, has to be the most addictive challenge on this game, in my opinion! I love crossbreeding. Best of Luck everyone. mittens x

|

Hey Tilly, I breed Paint x Arabs if you'd like to take a look at my horses go to Painted Desert breeding farm.
|
@The darkness, Yeah but the trot is not nearly as high as dressage and speed so if you don't train the trotting but the two skills they can be good trotting horses. I do trots even with my two pure paint but one seems to be good at jumping. The rule applies to pretty much every skill when it comes to English comps. You train the secondary skills speed and dressage and leave the primary skill along. Cross comps are really the only iffy comp. In barrels you keep the speed down and train dressage and galloping. Even if you train the trotting horses that get like 1000 skill or at the top end of the GP for that breed seem to still be good at comps and he will probably still win trotting. The lower down the GP totempole the harder this can be and more rigid you have to stay to the basic rules.
