The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

I do happen to know a bit about uni breeding.
No, there is not a specific time of day to do it, but you get two (1-minute long) covering sessions in a day. You begin the session once you cover a mare, so it's best to have all of the covers you need to do already lined up before you begin.
There is a 1/5 chance of producing a uni with a normal covering. With the specific VIP perk, it becomes a 1/4 chance, or using a Hestia's Gift increases the chance to 100%.
My advice? Breed the mare as early and often as possible, unless you happen to have a bunch of Hestias sitting around.

Oh and almost forgot- there's a 10 hour wait between covering a uni mare and covering her (or a potential filly) again.
Thanks for the advice!

I've decided to turn my EC center into a centralized NIB forum, so please feel free to visit.

I have begun another ACTIVE NIB breeder list so please feel free to pm me your information so I can add you in!

This will hopefully help everyone know who they can help out!

So the old GP was always 350 for a foundation.

The new GP seems to vary, is this correct?

Which make finding them more difficult

Yeah, OG is 350, some I think were also 351-352

RG is I believe roughly based on a percentage of the best GP for a certain breed. (please correct me if I'm wrong on that, still learning ^_^ )

so like my starter horses were Friesians, with GP's around 5330, so when I'm hunting foundie Friesians, I'll filter to check for 350's first, then skim down the GP list to ones around 4000-5500 and start checking pedigrees.

Do most people still ise 350 ones?

What happens if you breed a 350 with a new GP? Does the GP go down?

It really depends on the breeder, I would say it is about 50/50.

We are trying to keep 350s and the new RG apart just for rankings sake, but yes, it would be about 2500-3000ish if you take an original and the highest (5000+) and breed them together.

I know for my projects I do intend to use the 350's I find. But where possible will be pairing them together, rather than pairing with RG horses.

Of course, if I can't find an OG to pair with another OG, I'll make an exception lol

It would be so hard to be an NIBer, who's starting, now. I encourage and wish everyone luck who is just beginning because you're coming into this thing where a version of the game is barely alive anymore. I sincerely mean it when I say I wish you all the best of luck. If anyone needs help or advice or just an NIB friend, let me know.

^_^ well, I always do enjoy a good challenge.

And I find this a lot more fun so we'll see how well I can do with it once I get my foundation stock settled.

Why do you say this?
Are there not many people that NIB anymore?

@'quest

There was a big competition change I want to say 3 years ago that made BLUPPing original foundies super hard so a lot of NIBBers who were active at that point quit.

I don't think NIBBing became more popular until the newer foundations came into play that were easier to BLUP came into play.

There are not many active NIBBers anymore is what Storms' saying.

Yeah, plus the cost of NIBing is high. OG foundations are extremely expensive (although not worth what you see in sales imo). RG's are expensive to upkeep since you need the latest GP's. And yeah.... I despise trying to BLUP due to the competition change.

On that note. I need an intervention... I just spent almost 1.2 million on more OG foundations default smiley :o I'm clearly bored and we can't leave the house since my son had to get tested...

I've actually found quite a few RG foundies relatively cheap in sales, but it does mean a lot of time spent filtering and checking pedigrees and muttering curses about disappeared horses lol

A lot depends on the breed and its popularity. And yeah the OG foundies tend to run higher in price from what I've run across, though I still have found a few bargains here and there.

I just enjoy it as a challenge because inbreeding has always been a pet peeve of mine, so I have fun trying to avoid it just on principle, which is why the NIB idea really appealed to me. Still working on slowly gathering up a decent number of foundation stock horses, some breeds I'm getting quite a few of, and other breeds are like hunting golden hen's teeth. XD

Anyone NIB Gypsy Vanners?

My theory is there are lots of them on the game so may be easier then Connies?

I might have a smooch in sales.

It can take a bit of searching. Sometimes you get lucky and find some that are equipped with P.Stones which makes them easier to filter for. The rest, its a matter of checking lots of pedigrees and a great deal of patience.

It can be frustrating when you keep finding disappeared horses in the pedigrees.

It really depends on if you're looking for OG or RG. I remember when Connies became hard to get. And at one point GVs were hard because they weren't a starter breed. They were a promo breed.

The other thing that might make it more challenging if you're just starting NIB is NIBing the old way. I still forget that there are folks that want to NIB with RGs and because of NIBing for so many years prior, my mind immediately goes to OG. But I think about the project I have and how I'm only where I am because of when I started. If I came in now and wanted to NIB the original way with the breed I am known for, it would be hard to start.

Part of the reason I don't NIB as competitively as I used to is because I didn't think the ranks were getting updated that much.
