Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

I bred a QH and a PH and got a pretty good PH foal. He has 15 stars, 5 in Speed, Dressage, and Gallop. I hope to have good EC boosting crosses in PH, QH, maybe even IH to keep the familiar second letter H. default smiley (lol)

Yeah good job. That is what I call serious breeding.

I just bought a good cross breed, I still have to put up the link but I'll get it up.
I got 20 wins on my 50% Hano/25% Paint/25% QH faster than any horse I've ever bred. I usually breed paint sporthorses...this is the first hano sporthouse I've bred. Love her!

Cross breeding can be so addicting! Thanks to the congrats, however I took an easy way. Purchased the mare and found a good stud to bred her too. My other cross project involves 16 different breeds of horses, with even percentages. It's a long process for me, as I tend to do things the hardest way possible. My favorite so far is this guy:

Aura Wraith

He has absolutely no stars, but he is a monster in the competitions. He currently has 105 wins. Could have had more, but I stopped competing him for awhile. It amazed me when he was beating purebred, multi starred Hanos in breed restricted show jumping comps. I will so miss him when he is gone.

That horse is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How did you ever do that? Mind giving me some tips to do that too? Is it just careful skills breeding?
By Retired breeder, 6th April 2010 02:15:18
Congrats MuckieDuckie. You just beat me. I'm a day or two away from a similar trick with IH/Standie crosses default smiley ;). Just need to squeeze about a quarter of a point out of gallop.
By Retired breeder, 6th April 2010 02:20:47
Thank you! Well, if you noticed, he did have Black Market items used, though I do have others that have decent wins with no items. Initially I, started with specific 50/50 pairs. In Aura Wraith's case, a TB/Hano for a father and a Standie/Friesian for a mother. Some of my pairs have complimentary skill sets others are complete opposites. I just look at the big picture as well as the individuals. Really, I'm not expert, just trial and error in some instances.

I guess the best tip I could give, is to plan and try and have a specific or at least general goal in mind. That way you don't get overwhelmed as the process expands.

Gosh, I hope I didn't sound completely foolish. It would be my luck if you were talking to the player's above me wouldn't it?default smiley (lol)
By Retired breeder, 6th April 2010 02:23:06
Wow, from MOH? I've seen you around tons of places so a congrats from you is like being visited by a Greek God!

The foals are just a side project, my main plan is still a long way coming. I just hope they can be as awesome as them.
By Retired breeder, 6th April 2010 02:23:43
You didn't sound foolish. Thanks for the tip.
Since we're on the topic of 6/6 stars, here's my boy:

I've got quite a few xbreds... here's my favorite boy: Bandit

Cool horses.

Hi, I'm new to the "cross breeding". I just created a foal that is an irish hunter paint cross...Can some of you tell me what you think?

Thanks!

Oh, I haven't finished his rides yet for jumping or some of his showjumping competitions. default smiley ;)default smiley (y)

She's gorgeous! I like her, though I normally do different mixes. Still a great horse and only 2 stars behind the top GPs. Plus already 1000% skills and not even 10 with no clouds used? I say she's pretty fantabulous.
By Retired breeder, 6th April 2010 03:47:32
Hi everyone. You all seem good at this cross breeding stuff and I just got into it so I have some questions. I have a 75% Paint and 25% Australian pony. What would be the best way to train this horse. Also when it would be time to breed this horse what breed should I breed it with for good horses. Sorry if I was confusing.
