The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

Just plodding along on getting horses trained. Love that NIB can be done slowly. My yearly goal is at least one full BLUP a year. If I keep that pace, I'll finish all my foundies many, many years after I pass on! default smiley xd

I always wanted to try it out. Like use random breeds I'm given from Ran. But I've never gotten around to more than thinking about doing it default smiley :)

Are you considering doing specific breeds?

As such I do not think they'd be considered NIB.
Correct me if I'm wrong - but it would still be fun to do.

I used to breed Australian and Welsh ponies back in the day, and I would really like to go back into it.

I consistently purchase my NIB horses at 10,000e each, and foundies I usually pay 20,000e. My goal is to obtain at least one filly/mare of each breed (Aussie & Welsh) to get started. Two fillies/mares each would be my ideal. I am also not shy about purchasing colts/stallions and will gladly take one or two each.

So, if anyone has Australian or Welsh ponies that they're interested in selling, or if I could purchase a foal from somebody, pretty please send me a message. default smiley :)

They should be current, though it looks like the most recent entries have yet to be added. I sent them to the mod who usually updates the list, but she has probably been too busy to get to it. default smiley :)

Horses with disappeared ancestors won't qualify for the GP rankings in the top post, since their parentage cannot be verified. But if you don't care about having your horse's GP ranked, then there's nothing stopping you from using those horses in your own program...indeed, since NIBing isn't an official game function, those who aren't concerned with the ranking can basically do as they please. default smiley :)

As for pastry foals, they qualify as long as they're all from different pastry parents (they have unique ID numbers, so it's easy to tell). I do wish those pastries would serve up actual foundies instead, it would make things much easier. default smiley (8)

Thanks! Im debating playing with a cpl lines, i have a pair of arabians and some others. It must get hard to source new bloodlines after a while, specially for the breeds that have been here a while!
the German Saddle for instance, theres a few around atm that are foundies but it doesnt last

Yes it is absolutely challenging. Often times the best way to start is to go on a hoarding spree when new breeds are introduced.
If you search after horses aged <8 months, with skills <1 that are purebred. You should be able to find them. But foundation horses are not as easy to spot as they have been.
Sadly we still do not have an option to search for foundation horses. Would be so much easier.

Rolling gain foundies are a pain in the B to find default smiley (lol)
Best way around that one is to have foundation horse gifters. But you'll need the patience of a saint there also

If I may offer a piece of advice: when I'm hunting rolling gain foundies, I set the GP filter for a few points higher than the GP I'm looking for and the Skills for less than 1, and click on the
purebred box (that's if I'm looking for untrained horses/foals). It may not always get me where I want to be, but at least I'm in the same ball game.

You can add coat color if you want or any other filter you want to check. It's helped me find coats for my trophies, too.

I learned this from my aunt, tigrelily. Hope this helps others. default smiley ;)

I have my original (new gp) foundie thoroughbreds and some of their offspring for anyone who would like to use them in their NIB lines. PM me to discuss details but Chester is a fully blupped stallion who I’m more than happy to offer coverings with or I can breed him with Gilly and I’m happy to give away their offspring. I can also look into some other horses of mine who might be foundies and I’m more than happy to offer any coverings from them

Apologies if this post is misplaced here or been done before, but since I've returned to howrse I've been resolute in trying my hand at making my own NIB line (breed of choice German Saddle Horses) But, I'm a bit at a loss in figuring out how many horses I will need as a good foundation herd? And was curious if more knowledgeable NIB breeders have any tips on how to organize who's related to who.
