The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

I have just bred two Black PB Barb Colts. Their parents are foundation and I was just wondering whether or not you would call them NIB's or not?

-s+cdefault smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 28th November 2009 10:49:51
Yes, if the parents are both Foundations then the foal is NIB. default smiley :)
I've found excel to be a helpful tool in keeping track of my lines. If anyone is interested in how organize things to help them develop their own system, I've put screenshots of my records on photobucket for a couple other players and would be happy to share them with others. Just drop me a message if you'd be interested and I'll send you a link to them. Happy Howrsing!

I am very new to NIB breeding and would like to try with Welsh ponies (my Foundation mare is Welsh) if you use a stud then find that a few generations behind him there are to Disappeared horses does this present a problem. The studs name included the words Welsh NIB's

OK going to try and show what I said visually speaking

By Retired breeder, 28th November 2009 13:37:43
Not sure if that last post helps any but that is a rough idea of why you can have more of a specific gender and not have them at equal numbers.
By Retired breeder, 28th November 2009 13:46:15
Sadly with NIB's disappeared parents happen a fair but .. however.. it is considered undesirable to have those. I will not lie I have havened a few of my own horses in the past due to Disappeared parents.
At one point those parents would sometimes appears as ouranos and Gaia when they disappeared. No clue why it did that but it did.
On a technicality it's kinda like in real breeding where you are breeding pure bred horses and you have a leaper stallion cross with your mare.
( Leaper stallions as in one who just jumps the fence). You have no clue as to the parentage of the stallion therefore you would be unable to register the foal.
By Retired breeder, 28th November 2009 14:17:33
You can prevent disappeared horses showing up in the family history by either only breeding with your own stock from foundations upwards and keeping every horse you have bred from (this is what I do) or only buying in stock/using covers from players you trust not to delete their account (as this is what causes disappeared horses).
By Retired breeder, 28th November 2009 15:32:26
I have not had any disappeared lines since my first batch of NIBs. Since then I have kept primarily to my own stock,HYDEIST,kaliko99 and a couple of others. Basicly, as you said trusted breeders.
Hehe I have tried hard to get back a lot of my first NIB horses I bred that ended up with a disappeared parent or two. I generally remove my affix from them and then resell.
I have been looking for a Foundation or safe NIB Welsh colt to buy (no luck so far) can any one send me in the right direction to a Welsh NIB breeder who might have a colt they would sell, unfortunatley only have 1 pass to buy with.

By Retired breeder, 28th November 2009 19:05:28
I am happy for anyone to pm me for my blupping programme for my NIB connies. I beleive it will be similar to other ones in use, so might not be of great interest to seasoned NIBers but for those starting out or those who havent worked out a good blupping shedule, i think it will be of use default smiley :d
By Retired breeder, 28th November 2009 19:35:19
Adnil29, about the best spot to find foundation horses is the auctions. No passes are required there but I warn you sometimes the bidding can get up on there on a good horse.
As for the NIB welshies. The breeder directory can come in handy there. I have used it in the past to locate other NIB breeders. default smiley :) It is how I came across Kaliko and HYDEISt who I do not know what I would do without default smiley :)>

Yes! Sahara now has 15 wins! Can't wait 'til he gets to 20! Dressage is bolded, but I still need to do speed, gallop, and stamina. Hopefully that won't take too long. This is about the time when I start wishing I had passes and a Timer. Oh well. Surprise presents are always nice! Haha.default smiley ;)

saddle+club - his GP won't count until he is 1 year 8 months and his games are finished. But you have a day to get him 100% gamed, then you can submit his GP default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 28th November 2009 23:40:55
My mare gave birth to the first NIB Barb foal I have bred. Not as good as yours, though, saddle+club. Good job on that one! default smiley :)
Wish I had stayed with NIBs from the beginning. Seems like a fun challenge! Oh well. This forum is interesting anyway. Keep up the good workdefault smiley (y)
