The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

Actually, my question about french isn;t off subject ..much.. heh I need someone to fully translate an item from Equidow for me. default smiley :) I have a very good idea of the meaning from the random french to english translators I have found but... there is a spot or two that has me a tad confused so was hoping someone who was fluent in french could explain it clearly.
By Retired breeder, 30th November 2009 18:40:44
Ah...do you mean that stone-thing that gives a second Foundation horse? It'll only be available to players below 20 days (which I actually think is a good thing as if it were freely available it would take the challenge out of NIB and make it much less accessible to non-pass buyers), but it should mean that we'll start seeing more foundies - and hopefully young foundies! - in the sales...
By Retired breeder, 30th November 2009 18:41:48
I don't know French, for the record - it was discussed on p. 8 of the new features topic. default smiley :d
By Retired breeder, 30th November 2009 18:43:43
heh yeah, thats what I was hoping for. default smiley :) Most of the younger players I have met seem to prefer to get rid of the foundation horses as soon as they can and go ahead and get the starred ones. Maybe this will make it less of a nightmare to find those ungamed foals default smiley :)

The majority of my kids have given up there Horwse accounts so far. My oldest daughter still has hers and has been giving me a number of horses because she said she is bored withit.
My two boys just got ticked because they couldn;t play with the auctions right off.. and my youngest daughter heck none of us can remember her password.
My hubby has been debating on restarting his account because he said he wants to do the connie thing with me and would prefer to start off with his own horse. If he does that odds are I will end up with his NIB arabians to sell off for him. At any rate we will see. Maybe I can get my boys interested in the game again.
You should see the looks on their faces when they see some of the greenstarred horses though. My oldest son is always"Mom why does this one have the same Grandma on both sides?"
It's quite funny. Heheh especially since all my arabians and hunters are inbred as sin. But hey they resell high and fund my connies so I cannot argue. Without them I would not have been able to do half the things i have done with my NIB's.
By Retired breeder, 30th November 2009 19:19:12
I have a question (again, sorry)

How should I go about matching horses? Should I only breed each horse once? should I match up two horses and have those two only breed with each other? does it not really matter?

Again, I'm just asking the random questions as they pop into my head.
By Retired breeder, 30th November 2009 19:46:04
OOh! Exciting as I am planing on starting over on a new account default smiley :-))
I do not count the foundies as first generation as well.
By Retired breeder, 30th November 2009 19:50:55
I pair mine up and usually breed three times and select the foal that fits my program best.

Well, if anyone restarts and ends up with a newfie foundation, I pay passes for untouched foals/adults with full games gain. default smiley ;)
By Retired breeder, 30th November 2009 20:10:14
I might try this! It sounds fun and challenging!
By Retired breeder, 30th November 2009 20:11:20
IC: How do you usually go about choosing which horses to pair?
By Retired breeder, 30th November 2009 20:11:51
Is it best to just get foundations yeah?
By Retired breeder, 30th November 2009 20:13:13
lol, hint duly noted Inner Chorus.
Honestly though I'll probably be getting Friesians as that's the breed I go with.

I can't wait to wrap this one up of loose ends so that I can close it down. I'm very anxious to start again, even more so with these new mysterious items coming out.

friesianlvr, if you like I will buy those horses from you that find you hate to part with. When and if you want them back they will be sitting there waiting for you. Just let me know.

Oh and kaliko99 is an insane NIb breeder. I would never have gotten as far as I have with my NIB's without her.

Tips for anyone else:
Be sure to fully BLUP your horses. It is a huge factor in the quality of your foals. The closer they are to 100 the better.

As kaliko99 said.. try to bold everything you can.

additional note .. the horses individual genetic skills can make a difference to how much a particular skill jumps in gp between generations. I have noticed that when i really pay close attention to this I can get a much higher skill gain between generations. Unfortunately I just recently figured it out default smiley :)
If anyone has any foundation Russian Dons that they don't want, I'll take them as I just started up (read: yesterday) a Russian Don NIB program with my friend. default smiley :)
lucky the horse

livelyblue: can you go into more detail about the skill thingy??
By Retired breeder, 1st December 2009 00:18:23
livelyblueeyes there is no secret that i know of..I kept breeding the same mare and stud three times and the first was a 356 the second was this one and the third was back down to a 356 so i kept this one...but it sure helped that they raised the GPs for them now like all the older ones that were only getting 352+ it feels we can almost catch up now..if the inbreeding would stop and the stars would slow down..lol
By Retired breeder, 1st December 2009 00:42:06
I need some more advice, ive gotton tips on how to train out the ying yang and im as confused as a...cunfused person lol....so anyway i have a marwari mare, what should i train her in and what comps should i enter her in?
By Retired breeder, 1st December 2009 00:52:04
LoloJean, i will see if I can get some screenies to show what i am talking about. May be a bit though.
I'm still stuck at 15 wins for Sahara. Maybe I should just go for bolding skills now...

Inner Chorus,
.
Your question was awhile ago, but I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to look at the forum since early this morning.
.
When I was doing generational breeding of PSHes, I got to 5th generation. I don't remember the number of the GP, just that I couldn't go higher because I couldn't find another NIB PSH within half a point of my horses' GPs, and those close to mine mainly came from my own bloodlines. That is one of the main reasons I gave up generational breeding, my PSHes were too far ahead of any one else's.
.
This was in the days when getting a full point GP between generations was extremely difficult, but I didn't keep any foal under that full point above its parents. That type of culling is why I was able to get higher GPs. I am getting excited about starting generational breeding of NIB Morgans now that the ceiling is off. Will be fun to see what I can get between generations. But first have to get some of them trained up, been too busy with EC and real life stuff to do much training recently.
.
I am always interested in foundation Morgan foals, either under 6 months or through games training with 351.20 GP. Send me a PM if you have any you are selling, please.
.

vag111- I suggest that you bold speed before you finish up your competitions - as speed is not a top competition skill, but as Brumbies have it as a top skill, its easy for other horses to beat you out in that area if they are fully trained. If you bold speed, gallop, trotting and jumping competitions should be good win spots, keeping the training in these areas low.
always
