The NIB FAQ: What is a NIB horse? A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees. Are there green star NIB horses? These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth. **Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for! Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses? Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way. How can I get involved with NIB breeding? It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. There has definitely been a shift in the lines of what is and what isn't advertising these days. It almost feels like some things are going a little too far. This particular topic used to be very chatty most of the time and it has definitely quietened out lately.
The suggestions have already been made to Contact Us and have been ignored completely with regards to creating a marker to find foundations in sales. The game definitely wants us to go towards IB high GP breeding, and has been slowly removing the capability to do pretty much any other kinds of projects over the years. Currently I'm just plodding along here with my own mini projects, one of which I've basically abandoned over the last 6 months due to a complete lack of time.

When I played in the past I did low/negative GP breeding with Welsh. That is gone, so now I collect foundies for a relaxing gameplay.

That's a delightful Curly! Mine are currently on hold while I finish this tiny Fjord uni project which has taken me at least 6 months so far with no end in sight. I miss working the Curlies.

Hi everyone! I've been working on building a small collection of Foundie and NIB horses - I always found it neat to have a horse that you can trace to the beginning or that was the first of it's lineage. I was wondering if it is still generally accepted to have screenshots of an NIB lineage for verification if a horse disappears? I would love the perspective of those who are actively playing with NIB horses since the topic was opened so long ago. Happy playing!

Most of us own all the horses on our own lines.
I'd say it's up to you if you want to go the route of screenshots or not. In the past there was the concerns that screenshots are easy to doctor for the mini rankings that we have up there.

I was searching the sales for Curly Foundies, found one that was just listed. Snatched her from the sales as she was cheap, no affix and a 351,20 GP Foundie.

I can get a Champion seed in 3 days as well, I invested in a few Yellow Dwarfs, and got lucky opening the luck items so I have a few of her. What breed are you looking for? Love those little gems! I haven't had the time to play in the sales much lately, haven't added many to my project herds. I think mostly I have been picking up Newfie unis for my project expansion. I have been lucky picking a few up that hopefully someone will need as a project horse later on for reasonable prices. Or, you know, the holidays are coming

Morgans are my main love on this game. I have far too many of them and one day I will get around to blupping them all. For now they're sitting waiting on me accumulating a bunch of BMs and getting progressed on some side projects.

Saying that you are looking for horses/covers, or willing to part with them, is still an ad. If you'd like to discuss the matter further, please refer your questions to Contact Us, Is it your intention to make it so that we can't help each other out as a community? Rivenwood and Misabel didn't consider letting others know that we had what they were looking for, as an ad but rather an extension to help each other. So why do you see it differently? I mean if Rivenwood didn't see it that way, why do you ?

I want to second Storms Ransome's question. We have been pushed into becoming a small community and there are struggles that come along with that. I do not understand why we cannot help each other out.

The whole part of being in a community is the access to helping each other progress and succeed. Some of the terminology used lately does lean more to advertising, I am hoping maybe if we could work together to come up with a community friendly terminology that is acceptable. I know personally I use the term 'rehome' for NIB community sales and they only cost the minimum 500e. I know for awhile it has been in discussion that horses could be gifted, that would be exceptionally beneficial in this situation as well as so many others. Many of us pick up foundations just so we can keep projects fresh for others who may need them. And we still have TESF active for covers (thank you to those who keep it alive!), which I don't recall ever being considered advertising despite publicly posting about covers. Can we as a community join into a 'breeding group' like this to at least let other NIBers have a chance at successful breeding programs? Breeding groups used to be able to flip things between eachother with no issues, maybe we need to bring that ideal back. Really all this is doing is pushing the community from an established forum to something that is less regulated.
I totally understand that if advertising is allowed for one community it opens a can of worms for others. I am not saying advertising should be allowed. I just am hoping that we can all work together as a community (and hopefully benefit other communities!) to figure out how we can all help eachother progress our projects so we can all succeed. I do feel that this is a situation that needs to be discussed further for clarity. Both 'sides', in my opinion, are right to an extent. We just need to work together to bring the two sides together into a seemless community that many of us have enjoyed for years. From my stance, if someone says they are rehoming a NIB horse or offering a covering for minimal charge (because we cannot offer for free, again, this option would pretty much solve all issues), I personally do not consider that as advertising but as offering a helping hand. Now if the person offering is requesting more, yes, I consider that as advertising, even if it is 501e. Howrse has put rules in place to protect players, and I totally respect that. It just is tough to see teams flip horses back and forth, but yet the tiny communities have to struggle to source things. We essentially do the same thing, work together to achieve a goal, just in different ways. Is there any hope that the small communities can have similar access to these luxuries of free horses and covers between friends? Isn't the premise of having communities to work together?

Also to add, yes, having info on a profile page can be helpful. However, I mostly play on the mobile app which does not allow you to quickly or conveniently view the presentation. So if I am looking to rehome a horse, I currently have to jump through additional hoops if I want to see a presentation. I don't always have time for this and end up just holding only to precious pixels that others could currently be in need of.
