Omg. I am simply speechless. There are few words allowed on this forum that will suffice to describe my utter horror at some of these new coats.

Having been a card-carrying, certified all-breed judge, with credentials in 16 breeds, I have judged many a halter class. The "horses" depicted in most of these new coats would not only have not won a trophy, points, or even a 4-H ribbon, they would have generated open guffaws from the audience, judges, exhibitors, and anyone else happening to stroll by.

Having bred quarterhorses personally, which were exported to 8 countries, personally producing 2 world champions, and having bred Arabians, producing regional and National top five horses while producing over 100 foals - I can tell you, the images of both breed are a disgrace. Particularly the refugee-from-a-slaughterhouse quarterhorse image.

Horrifying. Utterly horrifying. What makes it far worse is that many first-year art students could do far better. My god.

A simple question - do copyright laws prohibit Howrse from using an image that even remotely looks like the breed it is named after? That can be the only explanation plausible for the unrecognizable images you have drawn, with the exception of the Fjord.

If this is the case, I would be more than happy to turn over pictures taken by myself of about 15 of these breeds, which I will happily, eagerly, give to the game free of charge. Perhaps someone employed by Howrse could show the images to their teenage child - oh heck, preteen child, with a smidge of artistic ability, to then render a drawing that could not help but be more recognizable than the ones you have come up with on your own.

I actually own a QH that is a slaughter-house rescue, and she looks better than QHs Howrse drew!

I think it's to fit the new tack... so we can play "dress-up" with our pretty ponies default smiley (o)

@~Callisto~ I agree. I'm not very happy with the addition of the tack to the horses. What if some of us don't like how it looks but we need tack to compete? :/
Callisto - I applaud you, and I can certainly believe what you are saying, lol.

The QH image is simply appalling. However, for those who are not experts/afficianados of the breed, the image could be made dramatically better if the dachshund body was shortened up, the head was given a throatlatch so the animal could actually breathe, and the "robin redbreast" chest was smoothed out.

Yes, there are a zillion more issues if somebody wants to nitpick, but most of these images can be made at the very least an adequate representation with just some tweaking. Howrse needs to just have somebody who knows what the living breeds look like have a little chat with the "artist" and I think things could be dramatically improved.

Will the tack show on a golden apple, silver apple, fifth element, and bewitched pumpkin?

Yes, it's changed its the same as the Brumby if you can find it.
@ Callisto - I believe that howrse said that the option to see tack on the horse would be optional in the inside howrse blog, but I'm not positive.

Bugs. I really hoped the tack was optional. Because, to be honest, it’s the last thing I want to be on my horses.
I have to admit that the new horse coats are unbalanced when it comes to the bodies of the horses and they are fairly long... default smiley (o)

Does anyone know if achilles heels will be included in the nyx packs soon? And if so, when?

Here's the Icelandic coat.

Has anyone seen any Donkey coats? Thanks!

that would be great, although I have no idea when, if ever that will happen... it would save me passes though, so it's great!

I'm very happy with the coat change for the Akhal Tekes ^.^ They are the most beautiful breeds in my opinion. I also love the curlies, adorable. All the others are good too, except the mustangs make me laugh XD I'm very disappointed with the Knabstruppers though. They no longer look anything like their breed -.- Minus the markings. Knabstruppers have very long faces that bend down a bit at the muzzle. Not only did the face get shorter than it used to be, but the muzzles lacks the characteristic they should have.
I'm so happy with the Shetland Pony change. They finally look like an actual pony and not an inflated cartoon. I never cared for the Shetlands but it still makes me relieved to see the change.
By Retired breeder, 19th March 2014 00:01:50
Oh, and also are the donkey coats changing?
By Retired breeder, 19th March 2014 00:03:03
That's what I'm asking, I don't know.
