So, I'm super excited for all of this. I just have on question:

A few pages back, someone had posted a screenshot of the new tack items that would be showing on the horses in the store. The "made to measure" (high end english saddle) was a dressage saddle and the lower quality one was a close contact/ jumping saddle. I don't mean to be nit-picky but shouldn't they make a high end dressage saddle and a high end jumping saddle? For those of us who would want to see tack on out horses, I would get a little annoyed if the saddle that have the best bonuses was a dressage saddle when that horse is a jumper and vice versa.

I find it weird that people are complaining about the new Fjord coats, and how the older ones looked more realistic.

They hardly changed ....

They just made the horse more muscular. I work with Fjord horses in real life. They don't have thin legs like the old coats, trust me, the new ones are more "realistic" than anything...

I work with Fjords also, and they've done a really good job with the Fjord coats. I really love them! the foals are so adorable toodefault smiley (l)

Love the new Akhal-Teke coats! default smiley (l) The last version just didn't do them enough justice. By far one of my favourite breeds!

To anybody that doesn't like the new coats...

You can keep your opinion, I'm not asking you to change, but aren't they an improvement from when we had these. These aren't bad graphics either, but they have obviously gotten more realistic.

Putting them in spoilers, because the pics are big.

Call me crazy, but I'm still in love with the original coats. default smiley 8-)

I kinda wish they would do a "throwback" period for us oldies who were around in the beginning of time. default smiley :p

I think that would make a fantastic April Fools' joke default smiley (h) Too bad they've stated they no longer have that information on their databases, and it wouldn't be compatible with the way the game currently runs.

On another note, anyone know when Equideow updates and we'll see the new coats for tomorrow?
I'd say the majority of them are improvements, however some bother me very much... here are some thoughts:
The adult Thoroughbred looks more like a Quarter Horse and its foal is wayy too stocky;
The Standardbred's rump looks fine but the rest is just wrong... imo it should have a head like the new Nokota;
The Gypsy foal is very handsome however the adult looks a little deranged;
Some of the ponies need to seriously be looked up - the Australian pony is meant to be a petite, classy riding pony - why does it looks like a draught horse cross?;
The Barb's neck is hard to look at - way too long and disproportionate to its head;
The Quarter Horse / Paint / Appy look great;
The Akhal Teke looks great aside from an oddly large chest;
The Marwaris looks GREAT, thankfully! Phew! I have so many unis!
My favourite of them all would have to be the KWPN / Holst / Hano. default smiley :)

I would like thank the guy who did the new graphics because to me, most of them are a very big improvement. And I'd like to point out that he may not have been a horse person, but at least he was trying to give us as close to the real thing as he could. (and I use he even though I don't know for sure it's a man, it could be a female or an entire team) Some people don't have the hand to eye coordination to get the image perfect. But you gotta give this guy credit for trying.

I truly think the only issues that I have with the coats are as follows;

cremellos lack blue eyes

the conformation on a lot are odd, like the paints/QH/appaloosa's front legs

Gypsy Vanners are missing the big amount of feathers that the breed is most known for

small manes, and some are missing manes/forelocks

But good improvements are;

strawberry roans actually look like red roans now

mustangs look like true mustangs

the shading is more realistic, they don't look flat

They might not actually be missing manes, there might be a display issue with the coat due to how they are put together and displayed. Each coat file is used for normal horses, unicorns and winged variants of both. To make visible tack work, the mane, tail, wings and horn are in separate areas and depending on what the horse has to have visible (mane, tail, wings, horn) will determine what is displayed. If there is a bug or something is interfering with the function that displays the horse, parts will seem to be missing when they are present in the file itself. Because most of the coats are reskins based on a template it's likely it's simply an error when the page tries to display the horse's coat.

I've done a little digging into the horse's page HTML here and there....

Is it just me or do all the new coats look washed out?
By Retired breeder, 4th April 2014 06:05:54
Sorry I still hate the new Gypsies. They do not have the feathers or long mane & tail that is their look.
By Retired breeder, 4th April 2014 06:25:59
What arethe new coats that have been released that are now on our horses?
Retired breeder wrote:

They are almost all improvements in my opinion *however* the marwari is not. Just look at the difference! Im sure many of you agree?

Wow! I agree… I have spent so much time on this game breeding Marwari's because their coat was, in my opinion, unique and pretty…

The new coat is just plain terrible. It looks like a downgrade.

i hadn't really looked at the new foals till tonight when i had to game some... and all i can say is sometimes i liked just leaving some as foals cause i liked the sweet innocent look they had.. now....default smiley :s specifically the Arabian foal, *I* personally didn't car for it realistic or not the fattish bulg above the front legs stands out a lot and they offer no personality or expression to them. The others I thought did.
By Retired breeder, 4th April 2014 06:47:15
All in all i can't wait to get them out of their foal stage..
By Retired breeder, 4th April 2014 06:52:22
The changes to the unicorns! Their horns are so tiny! I need to invest in a few more GA's to make all my horses pretty.

I feel the coats have become really muted, some of them worse then others, I took one and toned down the brightness and upped the saturation slightly as an example, what do you think?
