if not pointing to a specific player then why leave a name there

this is not about making lemonade or anything else

you can try to twist words all you want

the basic problem is howrse is doing this to FORCE people to buy passes

it is the straw that broke the camels back and they need to know why so many people will be leaving if this change is in fact implemented

it is a slap in the face to those who have been faithful and stayed through so many detrimental changes

people can only roll with the punches so many times before they will stand up and say no more

making lemonade from lemons given to you and finding a way around a boulder is not in any way shape or form what is going on. that has nothing to do with unhappy customers.

this is not howrse giving us lemons this is not howrse putting a boulder in the path.

this is flat out pushing people to buy passes and slapping them in the face

And I just keep hearing, "I, I, I, me, me, me." Not anything about the community or the fact that it will affect our game economy.

And just like that this change was not necessary. Like I said, "It was quoted on one of the servers that they are making this stupid change because they want to reward the real players of this game."

WE ARE real players and this is how our loyalty gets treated by telling us we are not real players. I bought passes for this game, supported this game with real money, so my opinion does matter. If they want me to buy passes, no scratch that want more players to buy passes again, they stop making changes to things that don't need changing.."

They can't force us to do anything. They can try to push us to buy more passes, but their methods are flawed.

And you know that is a great way to look at life and something I strongly agree with. default smiley (y) It just does not change anything about the facts of the pass changes.

I am not going to support a game making bad decisions or call them "okay" just because I have a positive outlook on life. I still have opinions and I still am going to express them default smiley (lol) The pass changes are bad decisions from nearly every way I look at it. That doesn't change just because I enjoy a challenge and strive to feel positive about life default smiley :)
you are right but it is still the broom sweeping everyone along to the dust pan

i was quite about so many changes

but i can not be quite anymore. the game is not the same and staying to be stubborn and hanging on just isn't worth it. the game should be fun to help release stress not cause more stress.

those of us who remain loyal and still hope that howrse will listen to their customers are dwindling. we are not happy and we should not be in this position.

soon you will have to pay just for the privilege of playing this game

it will not be today or tomorrow but mark my words it is coming

I won't quit over this change, but I also won't buy passes either. I will just slowly sell off my collection and keep the ones I truly want, this should keep me in passes for the few things I want

howrse will always try its best to make money 40% on howrse are not pass buyers (including me)people have no reason to stop buying passes or delete their account(this is just an alternative way for this game to get people that don't buy passes to start buying/there is no point complaining about it cause this will happen and its not the first time or the last.I believe everyone needs to calm down if the admin sees that people lose interest cause of their difficulties on getting passes the mods will inform them about it { remember the mods except from the job their also regular players I am preety sure they buy passes since they are so loyal to the game but that doesn't mean they don't try making themselves.

If I may ask, where did you get this %? I have never seen it announced.

Being a mod doesn't mean you need, or want to buy passes to show your loyalty to the game. I never bought a pass before, during or after I was a mod.

For anyone who's interested, here are some links about Owlient, Howrse, and Ubisoft. Oh look, we've made money for them regularly since they bought Owlient. Ubisoft Financial Reports and random Howrse info. Leave us in peace and we'll keep doing it.

Reading that material, Howrse has the lowest profit of all for Ubisoft. That is probably why they are trying to encourage players to buy more passes.

I find this idea appalling actually. default smiley :s Nothing I'd ever wish to achieve.

I agree with the posts before saying that thinking about the whole game and community and economy of the players is most important if we think about and discuss changes. I for myself have never sent more than 10 horses/month for 10 firm passes and have been living happily with this system. 10 passes as a fixed number is most important for my game play. I know for sure I won't get them with the meter system, I can see it at the meter for the monthly pass already. 'til now it always failed, no matter what game action I performed.
So for players that sent 10 passes/month it is a mess up already. Raising a farm of passhorses that releases 10 over 30 years old horses every month is no hardship whatsoever. It rather encourages people to play.
For those that tried for more, the mess is even bigger, it's just out of reach. Is it the right way to treat players, who invest an even bigger amount of time into the game, like that ? I don't think so.
To say this change is supposed to stop multiaccounting is bogus, sorry. What hinders a multi accounter to play all their accounts for the pass meter and eventually send the earned passes to their main account ? Nothing really. Wether it is about 10 possible passes or 30, some people will always try to exploit a system. But they are rarely the people that really love the game and invest into it.

Anyway, I started to revamp my game now to downgrade from VIP to Pegasus account eventually. If I won't earn those 10 passes firmly anymore, there won't be VIP. Easy as that. I use to visit family twice a year with no or bad internet access and not much time to play. Means I'd lose full 2 months of passes anyway. I'm very certainly not paying for the missing passes for my VIP and whatever else I want. The result will just be reducing game play, reducing promo activity, downgrading special account. If this is wanted, well, go ahead ! I don't mind a bit anymore. But it's not really the best strategy to have players shrink their games. And this is what will happen, I'm pretty certain. People can't earn the money they earned with pass horses anymore, they can't gain the passes they need anymore, I'd reckon every simple psychology will tell that the incentive to actually buy the missing funds won't be too big. At some point you also hit people's pride. This blatant try to push people in buying more can easily result into the opposite.

7 years worth of Howrsing...

This game is pretty popular. In terms of spending $ on this game, can we, as players, have knowledge about how well funded this game truly is? Please?

Howrse is pretty beefy for a tycoon game. default smiley (b) They could literally stop making "new" developments and players WILL still play. This game is a little to taxing for new players I gotta admit ... look at all the stuff they got to look at! It's over stimulating as it is. New developments constantly disrupt harmonious rhythms many just figured out.

Howrse could afford to really pay homage to it's loyal players. (they did on it's 8th..? 9th anniversary thus the Vintage Apple was released) They could use the default smiley (k) Harlequin again for a "prettiest parade" (ehem -- Golden Apple based event! Hello! That sound awesome!). They don't need to invent new ways of having us buy passes by limiting us... Make them impulse buys! --doesn't sound right -- but, make the game so fun, so irresistible you can't refuse.

They could re-release the oldies:

Please Howrse, no more new stuff default smiley (l)

@sassyk, go to the next page of the PDF, the chart extends further. The low number you see is the cost of capital to hold the subsidiary - it just means Owlient is small compared to the others, not its earnings.

Looking at "Earnings for the last financial year". Owlient actually ranks 4/7 of the subsidiaries, which means they're in the middle of the pack and NOT LOSING MONEY. If you look at how small Owlient is to the other subsidiaries, they are VERY profitable (Ubisoft France has a similar accounting value to Owlient, and they LOST money even when revenue was over 7 times higher.. that's crazy)

Compared to the prior year, Owlient decreased in Pre-tax revenue but earnings increased by 385 000 euros (Taxes? No I'm not going down that rabbit hole lol).

Ubisoft's report doesn't go into a lot of detail on Owlient specifically, but based on what I'm reading (and if I'm reading the chart correctly).. they're using Owlient to offset losses in their other subsidiaries because they are small, yet profitable. Owlient could also be separated from Ubisoft France for tax/legal advantages.

Conclusion:
- Nah, these guys don't need more of our money.. but they can keep trying!

There is lots of info on the upcoming promos, as much as we have available to us, a page or two back default smiley (y)

The pass changes are an upcoming feature that players are discussing—greater details are a page back. If there is anything you don't wish to know about that is revealed outside of spoilers you should report/flag the post

If you have any specific questions about upcoming promos you can ask and anyone who knows will most likely jump to answer default smiley :)
Yes, I am wondering what the next promo is as well.
