For the Halloween promo, you end up getting a maximum of 204 children. To complete the promo you need 275. In the packs right now, you get 15 candies and 2 children/bell rings for 1 pass. In order to get 275 bell rings before the promo is over, you need 71 extra children, and with the packs those would cost 35.5 passes. 35 passes.. not including buying candy.

But, without the packs, and just buying bell rings, it's 3 bell rings for 1 pass. That'd end up being 23.6 passes, which is cheaper, but the packs would be cheaper for candy considering the specific candy you need.

Whoever said that they finished this promo with 10 passes on equideow, eh, well, I don't know how they did it.

Unless Howrse lowers the amount of points you need for the last piece of tack for Bucephalus, you definitely without a doubt need to spend at least 23 passes. Not including candy.

Anywhere between 20 to 30 passes tends to be about average for a lot of promotions (true, some take less - some take more) so that's not too bad in my opinion.

Bell Packs are now avaible for purchase. These packs are sold for 1 Pass (or 10 Diamonds) each and contain the following:

2x Bell Rings (so 2 additional children)
12 Candies (one of each type)

You can buy these one at a time, or in bulk (no discount or extras though for buying in bulk)

*sorry this is in French, this page has not yet been translated on Preprod - but it basically says the same as I posted above.

Pros and Cons of the Bell Pack vs. buying Bell Rings/Candy

Pros of Bell Rings
1 pass get you 3 Children
"bonus" children for buying larger packs of bell rings (ex. you get 18 Bell rings for the price of 5 passes (so you get 3 rings free in a way)
No time limit on how long the Children stay

Cons of Bell Rings
Only gets you additional children

Pros of buying candy
Able to make sure you get Candy you need in larger quantities

Cons of buying candy
Can become very expensive depending on how often you need to buy a certain item

Pros of Bell Packs
1 pass gets you 2 Children and 12 Candies (one of each kind)
Great for making sure you have at least one of each candy - giving you improved odds that you'll be able to give both Pack children the candies they asked for.

Cons of Bell Packs
Only gives you 2 children vs. the 3 of buying just bell rings
Only gives you one of each Candy, so if you have no other candy and two kids want the same...you either need to wait or spend additional passes.
No bonus for buying in bulk (so 5 passes will get you 10 Children, and 60 additional candies (5 of each kind) as opposed to bell rings/candy purchases where 5 passes gets you the equivalent of spending 6)

It's hard to say for sure which one is more beneficial - but I personally feel that Bell Packs are the better option early in the promotion (so when they are offered) and that Passes should only be used to buy Candy/Bell rings later on in the event if you are lagging...Sort of like how right now with the Pinatas - it will be better to use HOPs right now, and save buying Mace Blows until later when normal clicks are worth more points (as Mace Blows are worth however many points your normal clicks are worth)

Trick or Treat Event!
We introduce a brand new contest where the objective is to give candy to children. If they are not happy with the candies they receive, they give you tricks!.

Obtain candies

There are 12 varieties of candies, with different degrees of rarity.

You can get candies :

► With your first connection of the day (15)
► When you groom your horses (4 max)
► When you win competitions (4 max)
► In the flash sales (one per day for each sort of sale)
► Making candies in your workshop
► By buying them with passes
► By buying pack in the Black Market (special operation, not available all the time)

Make candies in your workshop :

You can make certain candies in your workshop. The ingredients are different black market items. You can only use the ones you have in your inventory.
A candy production lasts 48 hours. So it is not possible to launch a production if there is less than 48 hours before the contest finishes.

Receiving the visit from children:

►You have 5 visits a day at the beginning of the contest. Each day the number of children who can visit you daily increase from 1. It means that if you connect on the game every day during the contest you will be able to receive more than 20 children a day.

►The children arrive all the day long. You have 36 hours to give a child candies, afterwards they will go away. There is a timer on each kid for you to know how long you can offer them candies.

►You can receive more visits of children by ringing a bell to call them. You can buy bell rings with passes. The children who arrive with the bell rings are more patient and stay until you give them candies (or the end of the contest). So there is no timer on those children.

Offer candies to the children

When a child is waiting for candies, you can see which ones will please him the most.

►Each child asks for 2 candies.

When you give candies to a kid, he gives you satisfaction feedback. You receive points corresponding to their satisfaction level: more he is satisfied, more points you will get. Those points will allow you to get gifts (see later).

If the kid is less than 50% satisfied, he will make you a trick.

Get gifts

With the points you receive from the children, you can get gifts and legendary tack to get Bucephalus. Each gift has its price. You can see them on the contest page.

Tricks

When a kid is not happy, they make you a trick. We will not describe them to you; you can be surprised as you discover them. default smiley default smiley :)

Black Market

At certain moment during the contest you will be able to buy Halloween Packs in the Black Market.

Those packs contain:
► 2 rings bell
► 12 candies
► Common objective

Give candies to children to unblock chapters from the Bucephalus story!

Here are some screen shots of the event:

A kid asking for some candy.

A kid after being given the candy he asked for.

The prize list *please note, Bucephalus' Tack is shown in a different section

Points tracking bar and where Bucephalus' Tack is shown

~*~
Basically - you get 'Candy Tokens' by logging in, grooming horses, etc. When kids show up - they will ask you for various Candy. Simply drag and drop the candy that they ask for into their buckets. The more they like what you gave them - the more points you will get.

For example - if you look at the above screen shots, because I gave the kid the two candies he asked for, I got the max. score of 100 points.

Since the kids hang around for a few days, if you don't have one or both Candies they want, it is best to wait and see if you get the other Candies before opting to give them some random other candies or let them go away with no candy. *You can still get points even if you don't give them exactly what htey want, it will just be a lower point value (lowest I've gotten is 10)

Nope, they aren't available yet.

We will be able to purchase them sometime during the next promo.

Depends on which packs you mean;

If you mean the Legendary Horse Packs - those can be purchased at any time. However, you need to live in Europe to be able to order them (as they contain a real world item in addition to virtual content).

if you mean the

Click to display
Bell Pack I mentioned - that is only for the upcoming Halloween Promotion. The items it gives are for that promotion only and are simply used to help get you more points towards getting more gifts from the event.

And Promo is simply short for Promotion (the events that Howrse does from time to time to add new Divines to the game and give players prizes [The current Pinatas are an example of a Promo])

Ugh, I was hoping that I could actually have a chance of winning the next promo with 10 passes. Oh, well. I guess I won't be buying passes anytime soon. More CS entries with the passes I have now, I suppose!

Yeah, preliminary reports are starting to file in on Preprod regarding the H_ Promo and Passes;

Click to display
Now that we have Bell Packs and know what they contain and the costs...Most of the post I've seen of those who only used a few extra passes beforehand have pegged this at anywhere between 20 to 30 passes if one goes with a combination of all Pass options (purchasing candy, bell packs, and bell rings).

Just keep in mind - that some Preprod pass figures are gotten because we opt to 'rush' through the event to complete it (ex. during one of the last sessions - I rushed through the Maze event and came up to needing 100+ passes to complete it using bought moves. In reality, with luck - it actually only took me about 30 passes to do on live.

Right now,

Click to display
I've used about 50 Passes on Preprod, and am just over a third of the way done. Of course, this higher figure also comes from the need to test out a few things with how aspects of the promo work (Ex. giving the kids candy they don't want).

However, the amount needed on live should be a lot less, especially if players plan their actions carefully (I've run my own light calculations and have to agree that the figure of 20 - 30 passes is reasonable).

Nope, all we can do is wait and see what the future holds...They might not get a Sale and instead get a HOP/TC/Golden Fleece event instead.

@ShorahNagi,

Do you still have the guide for the pinatas?
Retired breeder wrote:

I still don't see why people like that Promo so much, I think its more trouble than anything depending on the objectives.

Take if there's a Wandering Horse that requires entering competitions - Comps. run so fast sometimes you don't even see them. Then once a ton of Wandering Horses are on the game - Divine only comps (as well as regular comps) also become impossible to find.

In addition - the Wandering Horse only stays with you for 5 days, then leaves - never to return and all you have to show for it is the box on your profile page showing which one(s) you got (you can't do anything with them as it just goes to a static image page of the wanderer).
