The horses right now are not ugly. They are a lot better than horses on other games. One of the main reasons I started playing howrse was because of the way the horses looked.

I remember when the current coats replaced the V.2s everyone seemed to hate the new ones and now all of the sudden they're perfectdefault smiley :p

For me personally its not that they are suddenly perfect. Its they dont make me cringe or scare my sisters. I showed my little sister the new coats and she cried and asked "Is all my pretty horsies going to look that ugly too?" The ones we have look friendly, the new ones look ugly and dead and quite frankly, scary to smaller kids because of the dis proportion and bad choice of pose and skill in drawing them.

The only ones I don't like are the connemara, and Australian. I don't see what is wrong with the old ones. Quite Frankly, I think the old coats are the worst ones.

So we have the option to not have the tack showing on the horse? Am I correct?

I hope so

I think the coats will be amazing, remember this is not the first or the last update of the coat, i am very excited! I am also very excited for the new EC!
Stop complaining, this coats are getting better and better, so what if the coat isn't exactly how you want it? It's better than what we have now... right?!

Not to be too harsh or anything... but Howrse has butchered my favorite breeds. The Gypsy looks like a mutt, the Nokota looks like a bucket face, and the Shetland doesn't even qualify as a pony anymore. It now looks like a miniature horse.
I'm a loyal Howrse player, and won't quit... but... why Howrse? Why?!

I could not agree with you moredefault smiley :-x

I prefer the old coats...The V.3 Arabian coat and V.3 Standarbred coat is about all I agree with. I really really dislike 98% of the new coats...:/

Will the tack show on golden apple, silver apple, fifth element, and bewitched pumpkin horses?
By Retired breeder, 19th March 2014 20:01:14
Not to the best of my knowledge.

The new coats aren't better though.
The Quarter Horses look malnourished, the Mustangs faces remind me of those disgusting over-muscley body builders and the Gypsy Vanner lacks feathers and anything what makes it look like a Gypsy Vanner (also the eyes make me think it looks like something what ought to be a horror film). And not to forget the Curley looks sweaty and the Thoroughbred's forehead looks scarily bulged out. Need I say more?

Only a few coats are actually improvements (e.g. the Akhal Tekes)

The new horse bodies are horrible if they change them to that then im not playing this game anymore
Our beautiful Gypsy Vanners are going to have half their mane cut off. Now they aren't special any more.

Not to mention, they have less detail then the others. It looks like someone quickly drew a horse, coloured it in and didn't add any details in the mane. It looks like something I'd do on paint for fun.

Some of the coats look beautiful and others not so much, especially for Gypsy Vanners and Mustangs. I'm hoping they get changed into something better and more attractive looking.

Its more money. Both in equus and passes

You don't know that for sure yet, none of us do, and from what Howrse has mentioned recently it's starting to sound like we might not have to 'buy' some things to begin with. For instance, the inside Howrse blog post about the EC changes mentions this:

"A new economic system
Forests and mountains will also offer another benefit; they will provide you with raw materials, in order to craft items or produce by yourself, instead of having to buy them."

And Ow posted this in the EC production cycle suggestions thread:

"For instance an equestrian centre in the Mongolian steppe where you raise sheep for wool to weave saddle blankets for horses…"

-starfire-__ wrote:

Also this will cause an even worse inflation and fluctuation of power within howrses economy twards players with seemingly endless resources shutting out newer and less experienced and less active players into the dark as far as the huge GP race that has been raging for quite some time now.

Is that a reasonable expectation to begin with? You're essentially saying that people who can't or won't invest the time, money or effort into competing in one of the more intense aspects of the game should have an equal opportunity to do so... What would be the incentive for people who invest a lot into their games and where is the challenge in that?

-starfire-__ wrote:

But it all is stuff thats like the american economy. The rich are getting richer and the poor are scraping by dreaming of having just a bit of what they have. Sure its hard work, but its a lot of luck and real money a lot of people just dont have.

For this analogy to be correct the 'rich' would be intentionally sabotaging the the progress of the 'poor' on Howrse and that is not an accurate reflection at all. For starters there are plenty of ways in which you can gain wealth that is independent of the influence of the 'rich'.
Howrse is a 'free to play' game and under that model players are offered the choice of either grinding to gain wealth (ie spending a lot of time in the game farming APs and passes) or investing real money and by-passing that. If a player doesn't want to spend the time or money is it really reasonable for them to expect anything from the the game?
