HellOw,
It's that time of the year!
The
Advent Calendar
starts on
December 1s
t!
Open the windows everyday for surprises. You can get divines on Saturdays and on Christmas day!
If you miss a day, you’ll be able to open that window by paying Equus. The amount of Equus will increase every time you open a window late.
After you open a Calendar window, come share with us the gifts that you receive!
Happy Holidays!
The Howrse Team

i don't understand all the complaints about mostly classical tack. who cares. just change it. you tack your horses mostly before 5 any way so just make them classic put the tack on and switch the specialty. i don't get why this is such a big deal.

I don't see why it is such a big deal that people want to have more Western tack

Just because it's doesn't bother you, doesn't mean it's the case for everyone. We have our reasons to want more western coloured tack. Changing over isn't always an option, so I don't see the harm in wanting to give people more leeway when it comes to the age and way they tack up their horse.

I have x291 2** Classical saddle cloths.
I have x97 2** Western saddle cloths.
- I have many opportunities of winning/receiving 2** tack (promos, divines, luck items, regularly spending passes on all the former)
- I rarely use 2** tack in general
- When I do use 2** tack I mainly use Classical tack
- I very, very rarely use Western 2** tack, so the discrepancy in those numbers is not from unbalanced usage
The game clearly doesn't offer Western tack as often as Classical tack, and that is a problem because people use Western tack, even if it's not as popular as Classical is. It doesn't matter if there is a free feature that allows you to change tack specialties, that is completely irrelevant here lol. 2** tack isn't something we can just buy from the store or Black Market. Someone like me who doesn't regularly use it doesn't really notice, but if you do use it and are dependent on promos for it, then said promos mostly offering Classical tack is a problem!

Day 4 - 3x 3*** Western Saddle
Day 3 - 10 Mash

That isn't true for every player. I don't know how most people BLUP, but I don't tack my horses before 5 except in extremely rare cases, and I don't have VIP so the switchover isn't an option for me unless I wanted to change the way I BLUP (which I don't) or risk putting uncommon tack on horses I don't want uncommon tack on (which I don't want either).

I think it is clear that Horse is more focussed on Classical, also look at the Heracles Horseshoes BMI. They have yet to release the first Western option.
And if they release 3*** tack, like the Elves pack as well the saddle cloth looks Classical as well.

As far as I know you can also use these on Western horses. There is only one kind of Elves Pack and Christmas Pack and they are suitable for both disciplines.

I meant Elves Pack and Xmas Equipment Pack in my previous post.
Christmas Packs are something totally different, sorry for the confusion.

But they *look* like Classical cloths.
The game clearly favours Classical disciplines (and it's shown, Western came much later after they removed and *gutted* Barrel racing, and we STILL don't have a breed for Reining what is going on...), HOWEVER, they gave us Western so they should cater to both.
Western needs more love.

My problem is, in regards to better prize, where do we stop? One year they could give us smaller black market items in half the doors, like lower valued items in the categories, then bigger amounts of store items and equus in the other half. I am quite confident that people would still complain, as it isn't the expensive stuff like hera packs, harmony packs, and nyx packs, still just stuff considered "cheap" and "worthless".
I think my point is, is that it is normal for us to want bigger and better things. Next year people could be happy with those smaller black market items as they are an improvement, but then the one after they are unhappy with them, expecting better than the previous year.
It would be nice if they could change the calendar up and put some higher valued items in there, but I think it's partly done to keep expectations low. Also because, if we constantly get good things, it would lower their value and, as a result, make them "cheap" and "worthless" because we get them so often.
Couldn't agree more
I feel like a spoiled brat when I'd complain about good gifts like a Heel or Hypnos' Blanket, because indeed, where is the end?
It's like the school treatments on children's birthdays. I don't know if it is the same in all countries, but here in NL there was a tendency that parents would make all bigger and more perfect things each year, to a point where it gets impossible for most parents to top the previous one (moneywise or creativity-wise, or both). It has become a rat race.
Don't let it go that way here, please.

Adding to previous post, I also see why Hiram Farmer pleads for a 'better' gift on the divine days.
The problem is, what is better for one, is not better for someone else. So that would give complaints too, I guess.
I just count on a small little something every day. If on the special days it would be the divine, I would pick my jaw up off the floor
, let out a cheer
and keep playing
Like Rogin says:
Rogin wrote:
But I can see how others would not care much for them. Regardless, it's more about the countdown for me than the actual gifts we get from the calendar.

Back in the early days (early 2010s), I think we did get higher value BM items from the Calendar on some days. But events were much less common than they are now, so items won weren't just thrown on a player's pile like they are now.
If we weren't swimming in items from divines, exchanges, and events, and I had to use passes to buy items from the Black Market ( I genuinely can't remember the last time I did that, it's been ages), I'd expect better items in the Calendar, but that's not the case, so I'm fine with the smaller items.
The poor ranking points need some love though
One of my main goals the last couple of years has been to increase my Score, so I'll take all the easy points I can get
And besides that, they look so lovely, I like getting a bunch of twinkling stars
But yes, I agree 100% here too. We ARE a bunch of little spoiled brats indeed
. We get so many good items we don't even see the goodies we are getting here.
