HellOw,
It's that time of the year!
The
Advent Calendar
starts on
December 1s
t!
Open the windows everyday for surprises. You can get divines on Saturdays and on Christmas day!
If you miss a day, you’ll be able to open that window by paying Equus. The amount of Equus will increase every time you open a window late.
After you open a Calendar window, come share with us the gifts that you receive!
Happy Holidays!
The Howrse Team

i don't mind the small free prizes except the worthless to me ranking points on most days. i just feel on divine days all the prizes should be better. NOT everyone gets a divine just everyone gets better. that's all. I sent a suggestion like 5 yrs ago about this and send a reminder every early fall. wish they'd change it. again everyone shouldn't get a divine but everyone should get better on divine days. and i'm not talking huge prizes. just better than tack, aps and ranking points.

People who complain about the calendar do what they are supposed to - giving feedback on the event/feature in dedicated topic
People complaining and commenting on other users and their feedback are doing what exactly? Harassing people? Tsk tsk tsk.

my other complaint is about general ranking points which in my opinion is NOT a prize. i'd take pretty much anything else. i'd take 1 dropping over the points

As someone who cares about my general ranking, I like getting ranking points.
But I can see how others would not care much for them. Regardless, it's more about the countdown for me than the actual gifts we get from the calendar.

No, it doesn't. The Divine is given at random and is very rare to get, not everyone gets one. I only got one for the first time in however long they've done the calendar last year, so your odds are slim.

There's been reports of the Stuffed Unicorn pet and special tack, but we're also only on day 5. I don't think we're going to be seeing high-end BMI or anything, we never do. Usually it would be something like a Lyre.

In addition to the answers already given (ie it doesn't), don't forget that if you don't open a window on the date, it costs you equus to open it later so that could get expensive.
Editing to add, I just realised someone else already said that sorry.

My problem is, in regards to better prize, where do we stop? One year they could give us smaller black market items in half the doors, like lower valued items in the categories, then bigger amounts of store items and equus in the other half. I am quite confident that people would still complain, as it isn't the expensive stuff like hera packs, harmony packs, and nyx packs, still just stuff considered "cheap" and "worthless".
I think my point is, is that it is normal for us to want bigger and better things. Next year people could be happy with those smaller black market items as they are an improvement, but then the one after they are unhappy with them, expecting better than the previous year.
It would be nice if they could change the calendar up and put some higher valued items in there, but I think it's partly done to keep expectations low. Also because, if we constantly get good things, it would lower their value and, as a result, make them "cheap" and "worthless" because we get them so often.

Not to mention if you've been on the game long enough eventually you tend to get a stock of most things, or your game expands to where small increments or items don't seem to do as much. That's just kind of the nature of the game. I remember back when a Lyre was the *coolest* thing to me cause I didn't have passes and couldn't buy my own BMI ever, so getting to pick out fancy font for my horse's name was a rite of passage, practically.

that's why i'm only saying the DIVINE days. not every day. just divine. and i'm not talking huge. how about some showers, troughs, bonus tack, small bmis, that kind of thing. It really stinks to get an AP when people are getting divines. again not everyone should get a divine (i've never gotten a Advent Calendar divine) just better.

i'm fine with the prizes (except the GR points which are worthless to me I know others like them) on every other day just if some people are getting divines why can't everyone get a little better that's all. with the rank points i don't like it cause i don't care about the GR. i'd honestly take ONE dropping or a piece of fodder over the ranking points. that's how little i care about the GR points.

I think they did improve the prize pool a little, I got an elves' pack today and that's usually the final "grand" prize for the whole thing. I also don't think I've ever gotten as many as 10,000e or a christmas pack.

Sounds like I've had pretty decent luck so far:
Day 1: 500e
Day 2: 500 ranking points
Day 3: 3* xmas bonnet
Day 4: stuffed unicorn
Day 5: xcountry Heracles horseshoe
Day 6: elves pack
Went into it reminding myself that this is not meant to be a big prize every day, just something small like the little Lindt ball I get every day in my human advent calendar!

Traditionally , Advent calendars always only gave something small as you get the best things on Christmas day itself. I am old enough to remember real Advent calendars that were made of cardboard and, when you opened the window, you saw a picture related to the Advent story. Over time that changed to pictures of Christmassy things and eventually came to be small things like a chocolate or sweet. I dislike the real life ones now that have ridiculously expensive things like perfume or jewellery as they just celebrate consumerism and make money for someone. The Howrse Advent calendar (to me) is in the spirit of the original ones and gives us a small gift each day in the run up to Christmas itself. I like that, despite having plenty of most of the gifts already and for newer players some of those small things are really useful. For those wondering about the divine on Saturdays, only a very few players get those - I've never found one and most of us never will.

I remember getting those little story ones, where everyday you opened a window for a picture and little story about it. Then it became a small piece of chocolate which, as a little kid, I was always so excited about, as I rarely got chocolate.
