The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

I've a question for the NIB connie breeders -- my origional foundation mare is aging. I wasn't planning on immortalizing her because her GP is low (350.30) -- are foundies hard enough to come by that I should immortalize her so someone can use her for an NIB program?

I'm planning on doing a crossbred NIB project *eventually* (an NIB version of my current cross ~Jumpin Beans), but was hoping to start with higher GP, and it will be a long while before I get around to it.
By Retired breeder, 1st December 2009 20:30:46
kaliko99 - well done on that, that's a good GP to reach!

Redwing - Foundations are actually relatively easy to find even for less popular breeds, it's just hard to find them with a GP above 350.70, so it's up to you whether you want to use a Stone or not. If you're thinking of sales value, unless she's also 100 BLUP it probably won't be that high.

Crossbred NIB would be fun!

Thanks Inner Chorus. I reached 372.77 with my last 5G, but with those the highest 3G was 364, so i am pleased that this lot are coming in higher. Green star here we come. Am just over half way there with my current 5G default smiley (lol)
By Retired breeder, 1st December 2009 20:35:29
I'm actually starting to think it'll be possible soon. default smiley :d

I am hoping this forum will help and encourage new interest in NIB breeding as the more interest we can generate and the more committed breeders we get, the easier it will become. Apart from ongoing help and support from HYDEIST with new foundy lines and livelyblueyes, i am blupping all my lines myself at the moment which is expensive and time consuming. I would love to be able to get some kind of NIB Connie co-op going to pool good lines and make the process quicker.
By Retired breeder, 1st December 2009 20:47:29
Imagine if all the inbreeders started safe havening their howrses to start NIBing...wow..what a pandemic that would be...and then the NIBs would rule the rankings..lol..Muahahahah
By Retired breeder, 1st December 2009 20:47:46
Shame I'm doing Newfies then, really! It's going to take up pretty much all my time/focus on here. I'll have to look into seeing what generation green stars should be possible at - with my NIB foals I've seen it's possible to move 1.3-ish in the top skill each generation.
By Retired breeder, 1st December 2009 20:48:16
IM not against the inbreeders at all..just would be cool if everyone would be interested in a more challenging way to play of course..where you have to do research and take your time
By Retired breeder, 1st December 2009 21:08:11
I'm not late, it's Monday 1:07pm where I'm at default smiley :p
By Retired breeder, 1st December 2009 21:57:41
I beleive that the highest listed Hano is not NIB. It is a crossbred and the Hano side is from 4* lines with what i can see as inbreeding, with a very large amount of dissapeared lines.
Redwing,
.
I didn't used to be in favor of immortalizing horses. But the newer breeds, in which all the foundations that will ever be are already in the game (including connies), I now immortalize at least the mares. Once this first generation ages they can't be replaced like the older breeds which have new foundations being added by new players. But the newer breeds are on the list of breeds to be chosen by new players.
.
So my vote is YES, do immortalize new breed foundation mares. On the stallions I usually give them a WoY once they have completed 100 BLUP because normally the only time I use them is for coverings, so they don't age very fast. But I may decide, as they get closer to 25 years, to immortalize them as well.
.
Actually all my Morgan foundies that get 351.20 from games are being immortalized because I am giving them Nyx packs.
.
Just my opinion. Yankee Lady

Man....I forgot to submit my QH...shoot!
By Retired breeder, 1st December 2009 22:38:51
I tend to immortalize a lot of my foundies. Then again I also give them golden apples sooo... heeh I have an extra reason to collect them lmao. Also, if I should decide to sell them.. generally a golden apple collector will grab them and save em. However, it is not often I sell a good foundie... or any for that reason. Most of teh foundies I have sold have gone to Kaliko99 and HYDEIST. I think Riven has a couple I sold ages ago as well. Once again default smiley :) Golden apple coats default smiley :). Generally if I sell them it is after the coat is retired. The only exception were the horses I sold to kaliko when I did not think I would be coming back in game. I am happy as sin to see the progress she has made with them. ) BLUPPed a heap of em default smiley :).
All I can say is .. you have more patience than myself kaliko lol.
By Retired breeder, 1st December 2009 23:02:43
Its not patience, i am just plain stubborn default smiley (lol)
You know I have a Palomino QH who is 357.18 default smiley :) His name is God's Rising Star default smiley ;)

So I'll be sure to submit him on Sunday default smiley :)

He's a great horse, but I've got a lot of work to do on him default smiley ;)

Heh well .. you must be moer stubborn than I am default smiley :) At the moment I believe i have 3 foundies so close to their 20 wins I could scream. But hey once they are there that's 3 new foals with totally unused bloodlines default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 01:28:57
*sigh* I could scream.. i have been blupping a freaking gelding default smiley :( . I just purchased him and iw ould have sworn he was not geled when he was in the auctions but i had the seller send him to privates and poof he is a gelding now *sigh*. I am going to assume I just looked at him wrong in the auctions.
By Retired breeder, 2nd December 2009 01:30:20
