I liked the first new GV coat they came up with. The main thing that bothers me is the mane and how it strangely goes down on their front leg and then back up. What are your favorite new coats? I think mine is the Knapstrupper

I have to agree with this.

The Akhal-Teke and the Marwari's are my ultimate favorites. They are both gorgeous.

I hope they do something with the donkeys, it makes no sense to revamp ALL the horse coats and not the donkeys.

They aren't. It's a pity but the donkeys look so odd compared to the newer coats.

I hate the arabs.. But I'm excited to see the GVs I've got a ton just sitting around

I agree, I am dissapointed in the arabs mostly because of their manes. Arabs and Gypsy Vanners are my favourite breeds and I am sad to see their coats go, especially as my first horse was an arab. Ah well all good things must go default smiley (lol)

I don't see why so many people hate the new Gypsy Vanners! I think they are one of the best looking breeds that are being updated! I might even start breeding them!

I think the GVs don't look as nice as before. I knew that they were in need of a change but for me... I say yuck! I'd much rather have the old GVs any day, thanks. I also think that the new coat makes the mane and feather look sort of unnatural.

Can I have a link to where to see what the new coats are gonna look like? default smiley (8)

TheSilverUnicorn,
No I am referring to both. If an Arabian a "grey arabian" started out as being a chestnut or a bay when it was a baby it may have white markings that would disappear if it "greyed" to completely white. Personally I would define markings are areas of hair on a horse's coat that are distinctly a different color than a horse's main coat color. The answer lies in whether markings are determined by the hair color or the skin underneath. If it is based on the color of the hair on the markings that is a marking because it is a different color than the main coat color, then a grey Arabian that had white markings when it was a chestnut or a bay, but has now become white in coat color, would no longer be considered as having those markings. However, if it is based on the skin underneath then that Arabian would still be regarded as having those markings. But if that is true like you say then only horses that have skin colors other than pink could have markings. So for example our bay purebred quarter horse mare that has pink skin can not by those standards have any markings even though she has a stocking on back right leg, a coronet marking on her back left leg, and a star, stripe, and snip on her face (all of which are white), and who also has papers confirming this would not be considered as having any markings what so ever. That doesn't seem right to me. So I would say that markings are determined by the color of the hair as apposed to the skin underneath. Unless, Arabians' markings are determined differently than other horse's markings. I guess that could be possible, but I personally know some one that exclusively breeds arabians and I haven't heard anything to suggest that.

Also I never said that Also tovero purebred Arabian existed. Neither do palomino or buckskin coats but that it is irrelevant. I just said that the markings on Arabians can change and so can their coat color. One of our arabians is completly missing a marking she use to have because the skin was removed when she injured it. Another of our arabians had a big white spot she didn't have when she was papered, and yet another of our horses has white streaks that he didn't use to have because he wore a halter for so long and wouldn't let anyone take it off.
