Cool way to make a schleich or stablemates log jump is to take apart small sticks and stack em

Yeah, she's my favorite, but Jennifer (Braymere) posts a lot more. Leah (shoestring) is also awesome but posts like three times year. Then there's Bobbie (Horse Tender Studio) and she's good too, but only posts like once or twice a week... Still that's pretty often! Then five paws studio... I can't remember her name. But she doesn't post too often.
I am going to the a custom on the schleich Hanoverian mare to look like a racehorse, this is my first custom. Any tips?

Acrylics?

For blending:
Put two wet colors beside each other, then blend with a brush while still wet
Or put two colors beside each other on a craft or makeup sponge, and dab it onto the horse

Don't be afraid to mix colors, but if you do, remember WHICH colors, and how much, so that you can make more. For instance, two drops of brown, one drop of yellow, one drop of golden brown. I use bottles, so I count in drops, but as far as I know the little tubes don't do "drops". It might help to write down you color mixture in a notebook or just on a piece of paper.

For eyes:
Paint a dot of black across the while eye. Let it dry. Then paint a smaller dot of brown so that there is a thin border of black. While the brown is wet, paint a horizontal bar of black across the middle. If that doesn't make sense, look for some eyes reference pictures.

I can post more if you like later, but I have to go now...
Thanksdefault smiley :) that helped a lot

No problem default smiley :)

Also, you can use your sponge to paint on the base coat and this helps it be a bit smoother than if you used a brush. I've been told lots of thin layers is best, but for some reason I can't seem to paint thin layers very well...

Yes they were! I wasn't able to put the Velcro in the front though because it was too bulky. So they're not 100% realistic. I made them with black felt, and I'm not 100% sure what the sparkly material is. It feels like very heavy fabric. It was right next to the felt at hobby lobby though, so I'm sure it wouldn't be to hard for anyone to find.
By Retired breeder, 3rd April 2016 18:39:08
Was it in a felt sheet form?
By Retired breeder, 3rd April 2016 18:41:28
Yeah, I think how she does hers black leather, thin Velcro, a printed label, and I don't know what the sparkly part is. Maybe fabric, glued then sprinkled with matching glitter??
By Retired breeder, 3rd April 2016 18:45:14
Yeah I'm pretty sure hers is skivved leather, thin Velcro, I'm pretty sure her label is printed and resized on photoshop, and in thinking the glitterey part is possibly glitter toole. You can buy it in all different colors.
