The first horse I ever rode was an X racehorse my uncle had. We called him grey. When we would visit my dad's brother, I would run over to old Gray and give him treats. I'd ask my uncle to let me ride him and he'd always say, "If you can get on him, you can ride him." So I did. I climbed up that old faded wooden fence and awaited the perfect moment. Gray came up to the fence to graze and I slid onto his back. Having never been on a horse before, I just sat there. Gray was not phased, he continued to graze. That was my first time ever on a horse.

One day, while at my uncle's house, my mom, dad, uncle, sister, aunt, and I were all standing in kind of a circle near Gray's paddock, talking. My sister was closest to him. We were talking like normal and Gray nudged my sister's shoulder. She ignored him and continued to talk to us. I told her, "Pet him! He wants you to pet him!" (I was probably around 6 or 7.) She does not and continues talking. A few seconds later he nudges her again and again, she ignores him. This poor horse keeps nudging her a total of probably six times. She just ignores him and continues talking. Finally, I see Gray reach over the fence, bite down on her shoulder, and try to pull her over. She's screaming like a banshee at this point and I yelled, "NO GRAY! NO!" and he drops her, backs up a few feet, puts his head down, and just stares at me.

My sister was unharmed, all but her pride at least. He didn't break the skin, but left a huge bruise on her shoulder that stayed there for a good couple of weeks. (I'd come up behind her after that and smack her on the shoulder and say, "Gonna ignore anymore horses when they want petted Britty?" She almost 'd me one time! jk lol)
And this is when I fell in love with horses. My sister was around 9 or 10 at the time and already a huge pain in the you know what. She grew up to be a mean, cold woman that I personally don't like to be around.

Horses taught me at an early age some very important things. Like, pay attention to people when they are talking to you. Be aware of your surroundings. Etc.
