Ah, The very first horse I rode was named Wicheta, she was an old Arab broodmare that my trainer used with young children. Then, I was moved to another older arab, this one a gelding named Boston who my trainer used to teach kids to sit right in the saddle. If you didn't have the proper seating, poor old Boston would get quite jittery and might bolt. He always did his best to take care of me though, and I never fell off him. After a couple years with Boston, I grew too big and he just got too old, I remember when my trainer, her name was Brooke Carlson, told me she was going to put Boston down. That was the first time I cried over a horse. Then came my beautiful golden Aslan. He was also pure Arab, but of the more Egyptian linage while the other two were more from the English lines. Aslan had the delicate nose, dished face, and flowing lines of a true arab. He was a stallion, but you could never find a more gentle and quiet personality in a horse than he. I rode him for 4 years, and loved every moment of it. Plus, I got my dream of galloping (not really, more cantering) a chestnut Arab stallion bareback. (King of the Wind? Anyone?) In those four yearsI watched his foals be born, grow, be trained, and one, sadly, break a leg and be put down. Aslan passed away only a year ago at the ripe old age of 39 years, my old trainer texted me with the news... And that was the second time I cried over a horse. Now, I have Nacho, (pictured in my profile pic). And though he looks a bit like Aslan, none of the good traits of that stallion are in him. Nacho is a bratty little fart who would rather give me the mare stare (even though he's a gelding) than anything else. He is the most bad tempered horse I have come across and I love him to pieces.
Yes, that was very long, but once I got started I couldn't help but finish writing out my memories. |

The first horse/ pony I ever rode/ sat on was named Biscuit. Biscuit was my mother's childhood 15.2 hand, palomino pony, and I rode/ sat on him when I was two years old; it's one of my first memories. I have gone on to adore horses even to this day, and can't really bear life without them.

A little black pony named Tina. She started it all. After the first lesson I was hooked! It was lessons every day after school. I was six. Now I ride for a living, and even though I've ridden hundreds of horses, I'll never forget Tina, who was so patient and never tried to hurt me.

The very first horse I rode was named Caspian, but I called him Prince Caspian, (Chronicles of Narnia!!)
He was a very handsome bay, even if he was a little lazy. Which was perfect for me, since I was a new rider then. I have very fond memories of Caspian.. I hope he's still trailing for younger riders! |
