Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Nice jumping stats, the secondary skills are a little lower than a pure gypsy but it would be fun to see how he does. Nice crossdefault smiley :)
Arabian x Selle x GV

Thought the Selle would help boost the jumping which, in fairness, it did, but at the cost of a lot of stamina......

My newest cross, an appy/thoroughbred. She's doing quite nicely in gallop.

Lusi x Selle

Accidentally bred my lusi to a selle.
What would he be best at and does anybody know people who cross these two breeds? I only breed pure so this was a mistake on my part

I have a Lusi/Selle (Lusi dominant), she's been really great at showjumping, trot (non-Lusi only) & decent at crosscountry. I try to avoid entering her in comps that Lusis naturally excel in, like dressage.

For yours, I would try to avoid show jumping comps as that's what Selles are best at, maybe enter in some trots, gallops and lower level cross. It would probably also be a good dressage horse, especially in Selle only comps.

Have any of yall tried an akhal-teke x marwari cross? I'm trying to start it up but it's a bit tricky. So far only have one showing potential with 40+ wins

Hey! I've been working on maxing out my skills with my thoroughbreds. Can anyone reccomend a breed I could cover one with to increase the skills in trot and jumping? Thank you
Knabstruppers and Nokotas are good at trot and jumping, not sure what they'd do to other skills though!

Does anyone have any recommendations on what to add to the following mixture? I am hoping for a horse that might be good in western comps (any is fine), if that's possible.

Thanks!

Looks a good classic horse, so that's a hard ask! I'd try thoroughbred: I think you could end up with a horse that was 'targeted' for Cutting, Western Pleasure and (to a lesser extent) Trail, and might do OK in the Barrel Grand Prix.

Telmarine won a rosette today, which I was not expecting! Bred and blupped as a targeted xc winner and now a rosette in jumping default smiley :p

I bred a pretty good gallop prospect . I don't expect her to win any rosettes, but she does well in Marwari gallop comps.

Nice! I have a higher GP gallop stallion if you wanna cross with a Marwari for rosettes?

Will breeding the same two horses together always give you the same breed outcome? I bred these two together Stallion and Mare and got a KWPN foal. I also switched their sexes and still got the KWPN foal. If I breed again could it possibly come out as AussieP or will it always be KWPN?

I think the foal generally takes the stallions breed.

If I breed my crossbred mare that has high GP with a lower GP stallion, will the foals GP go down?

It'll be an average of the two. So it may be higher than 1 parent but lower than the other.
Hopefully this still holds true:
GP Calculation:

Add mare & stud's GP then divide by 2. There will be a +/- factor, but it will be around the previous GP calculation.

Example (1200 + 1000)/2 = X

If I'm not mistaken, I think it takes after the dam's sire OR is the dam's sire's 2nd listed breed? It's been a minute since breeding 3+ breeds together.

Hello everyone! I've recently started crossbreeding Thoroughbreds and Arabians, and they are actually really great all around horses. All their skills in each category are good and basically even (except for trot.)

Here's the affix if you want to see:

I've just stared crossbreeding so if anyone has gotten any tips, that would be wonderful!

With Anglo-Arabs (that's what I call them), I like to use reining, WP, and barrel comps. I suggest training stamina and dressage and not touching anything else until 20 wins. I prefer Quarabs myself- they seem to have lower gallop and higher support skills for some reason and I like them better for comps, but the two crosses are basically the same lol!

For crossbreeding in general, I would highly suggest doing gp calculations before you cross so you don't end up with a very expensive cross foal that ends up not doing so well like I have! default smiley xd experiment with different breeds and find what you like best!
Here is my new cross bred Fjord!

Renegade she is my newest Fjord x Arab cross. She is the current first place in Fjord stamina, 33rd in gallop, 15th jumping, 11th in dressage, and 11th in overall fjord skills. I'm planing on breeding her to Roamer which will cause the foal to lose 200gp, but It will eliminate the chance of the foal being Arab dominate.
