This thread is here to show off your Retired Coats. This is not the place to post non retired coats. **The two exceptions would be coats that have been pulled (brief discussions) and the pre release coats.

REMEMBER:

******** absolutely no sales talk, no talk about spares or how many extras of a copy you got and selling them to fund your RC habit this is just a place to talk RCs

* although links and graphics are ok on this thread, they are not allowed normally on public forums

* any negative or unkind comments on artists or coats (or anyone!) will be removed, and depending on the case, it might mean an instant forum ban.

* DO NOT use this as a place to sell your horse/coats-if you feel the need to break this rule, it will mean an instant forum ban...

** Sales ads are NOT allowed in any public forums. Asking for spare coats will now be considered a sales ad. This includes stating that you plan to sell a coat, or point out coats for sale in sales.

* Do not use this place as a spot for rants or complaints-About coats/BG/or each other.

* This is not the place to ask players to price your coats, or to ask others the worth of a coat, you can check uses on your own by hovering your mouse over the gray apple and price it from there.

* This is not the place to bring up the subject of stolen images. Keep in mind that the rules of the BP used to be very different, and many old coats are from that time.
There is not any reason to bring that up, or report the coats.

*Please do not do a coat countdown for soon to retire coats.

* Please do not post coats that are currently in the GA and have either not retired, or will never retire.

* Please do not post coat/bg combos or ask opinions on them, except following coat release.

* Some coats may be removed in the future, whether that be for problems with the coats itself or just because they're clearing room on the server to allow other coats to be uploaded - if you're buying retired coats, please keep that in mind. If you want a permanent copy, I would recommend saving the graphic to your computer

* How to discover who many uses a New GC coat will retire-There is now a coat countdown in the GA, and it will show how many have been used and how many uses there are left.

** There is now a new creations directory which shows all coats. Go to Community>>>Directories>>>Creations>>>Click more criteria, and on the left hand side is a gold and silver apple. Click the silver apple and search to see all retired coats.

* To see who created/how many uses/name/or if you have it already of a RC coat, simply click on the silver apple, and it will tell you.

*** Posting links to other player's coats is NOT allowed and can mean a forum ban.

I managed to grab 11 out of the 100 users and brought the rest from sales, coat release has got rather expensive for me.default smiley :s

On the plus side the insane number of new RCs every month, means I got to a ranking in retired coats I never expected I imagine is just down to me being more lucky doing coat release.

I wish the coats that accidentally sold over 100 would still count towards the trophy, it seems hardly fair not to include them as the coat was still supposed to have 100 copies. I am happy for those that get a copy through this way, but when you're trying to get all the trophies, it kinda gets in the way.

Congratulations!

I think you'll have moved up again by next release, I cannot afford, or even if I could, I can't bring myself to pay the prices the new coats sit at in the sales.

If it was an older coat I really wanted fair enough, but when there's multiple copies at crazy prices, they are not for me.

I'm fairly competitive, so just holding number three would make me pretty happy. I don't feel like it really counts though. If the system were based on rarity instead of sheer volume, that would be cool. Owning those super rare coats cost way more then many Rarish
and of course new coats combined. I watched 40,000 passes get spent in auction on just one coat recently and I was in awe. I'm dedicated to getting new old ones, but not that dedicated! It takes me awhile to earn digital gold, since I'm cheap and won't pay real money. It's painfully slow getting anything pre cs. Now with the mass deletion, so many retired coats have no hope of resurfacing.

That would be a good topic starter. The coat so rare and never seen for sale that you have no hope of ever getting it, but you want to display it anyways. I'll post mine later since I can't do it on the tablet. The challenge is to only post one. The one where if you did manage to collect it, it would make your life better somehow.

For me it would be this one, by SpiritWolf, the reason? I had this coat on one of my very first horses, which is still alive and I visit every so often. I know I will probably never get her back, but getting this coat back would give me a piece of that horse back -

Reason being I put this one on the first foal I ever bred. I gave it away, several years later, to a fellow collector with a promise of it being returned if they ever decided to quit. Unfortunately, their account was deleted for inactivity a few years ago now. default smiley (lol)

This coat kickstarted my love of retired coats in general, it's a shame but I'm more than happy to remember it. default smiley (l)

I don't really chase coats on this server anymore, but this is one I would stir myself for:

Akhal-teke, by wenwillwego. I love the style, and it reminds me of a horse I used to have (ex-racehorse), before she calmed down and filled out default smiley :p

I do not as of yet have such a coat, which is probably good because there would no way i could afford it if it did happen to pop up which would be hard. I do love both of those last two posted here!

Mine would be Star Crossed by Twilight Connemaras. It was my very first RC back when I collected years and years ago and is the coat I most regret losing when my original account was deleted due to some unfortunate inactivity. It is also the reason I decided to pursue rainbow retired coats now that I am back.

Hello!
So I've never been too big on coat collecting, but recently I've been reading a bit through this thread and it got me interested, it seems like a fun challenge to collect them. But since I've never tried, I have some questions that I'd like to ask:
1. When do the coats first appear in the GA? I thought it was the date that's stated on creation space's page, but by reading through the topic I found out there is, I think, some kind of pre-release? Could anyone clarify?
2. How do you actually get into this? I'd imagine trying to snipe coats the second they're released is pretty difficult. What do you guys mean by 'getting your lineup ready 'etc? Do you just open different types of horses in separate tabs, refresh them all when the clock strikes and try to get the coats? default smiley (lol)
I think that's all off the top of my head, if anyone would be so kind to as to walk me through this I'd be really grateful. Other tips are also welcome of course default smiley (l) And I'm sorry if this thread is not meant for this, i will delete/censor the message if so (I don't remember how this works on howrse tbh default smiley (lol), haven't used the forum in ages)

Ice Cyborg, have long kicked myself for not using this one before it went 'poof' as it's just the quirky type i like. I still remember chose cyberhorse instead for one of my compers, and then not getting round to using this one in time...

Before you decide to get into coat collecting, be aware that it is all consuming. It might take quite a bit of time out of your life coming up with the passes to buy the endless coats in sales. To get your lineup;, I recommend using a computer or tablet. Computer is best though. I wouldn't bother with a cell phone unless you only want a few.

I recommend you clear out all the soon or not too soon to retire coats that are still available before you go for new ones. By clearing out, I mean putting the coats on horses. Otherwise it clogs things up. Put each horse you want a coat on in it's own tab. Click golden apple, check off not worn by any of my horses box, as well as limited edition box. Be sure to have the right time by going to community creation space. Yeah, you can refresh. I personally just click back and forth between popularity and chronology as that refreshes the page. You have usually less then 30 seconds to get as many of the 100 use coats as possible. If you have VIP, you get two cracks at it. VIP is 12 hours prior, so basically the day before. VIP goes off exactly on time, regular is 5 minutes later then they say. Good luck!

Oooh I see, of course the pre-release would be a VIP thing, I don't know why I didn't think of that. Thank you very much for all the tips default smiley (l) I definitely won't be going hard at it, especially since I'm not at all interested in buying passes to get VIP and stuff, quite stingy with my money default smiley (lol) I suppose for now I will just see if I manage to grab anything during the normal release the next time it comes around

@Kazuchino You don't have to be a pass buyer. I know it's hard to believe, but I've only bought passes once in the entirety of my game. You just have to be good at selling what people want enough to pay passes.

@Kazuchino Or trade BMI items to get enough GAs/HPs for regular release. I can usually get 6-8 golden apples from trading things like HoPs or MAs. I can't afford to get every coat during coat release, but I can usually get most of my favorites. I'm pretty stingy with passes too so I prefer to only get the number of coats that I can afford just from inventory. There isn't really a wrong way to start collecting.
