Ah yes, cheating by using your hard earned resources to put forth coverings for equus. How is cheating being defined by the way?

I'm still mystified at the mention of "cheating", but I guess I'll have to take the 300 over the 100 that were proposed. Now THAT was an even sorer sight. default smiley (o)

I'n not sure how it can actually be cheating but I am a supporter of fair shares for all and if this prevents a few players from stopping others having covers accepted then its fine by me. I don't even do enough breeding anyway to know if that happens or not.

i'd love to know the percentage of people who sold their horses to safe haven, that did not want them resold.

i'm also baffled that howrse would consider what people would want. there are many things and issues that have been requested by players that appear to be ignored. yes, dev takes time, but it can also take years with no movement.

basically, if people do not want their horses and do not want them sold, then send them to heaven. heaven could be cleared out too. not all horses there can be revived with a pandora's box. huh, i just checked, it looks like my heaven sent horses are mostly gone.default smiley :o

howrse does not appear to worry if it crashes market on any type sales.

a way howrse could prevent flippers from profiting from the sale of safe haven horses is make them non resalable. there are hoarders who have no intention of selling these rare howrses--ever.

selling the more rare types would give others on the game the opportunity and ability to complete their collections. and howrse could make real money selling passes to help fund the research on why the lag exists.

prior to howrse stopping those who had access to another's account via co manage, there were dirty players who would empty a trusting player's account into safe haven or dump them into direct sales for 500e. very glad that was stopped. .

opening safe haven to auctions sales could give former owners an opportunity to buy back their favourite pixels.

regarding deleting background info on howrses donated to ow, when i first discovered horses being given to ow, they had their stats. i guess things change.

moreover, why do we donate horses to ow? ow should be buying them from us for the same prices offered by safe haven.

ow's ec used to be available to look at. that has been removed. why?

You've got a good idea but I don't want my horses put in there to be sold to other players. If I had the chance to buy them back then yeah I'd probably buy some back, but not other players horses. It would be unfair

Can somebody explain to me like I’m five years old how it was ever considered “cheating” to put out 300+ public covers in a day?

How can you stop others from accepting covers? If anything, aren’t these changes just restricting it even further?

Never mind, was reading it from the perspective of the person accepting the covers, not the perspective players offering covers.

The obly reason why the Mods are agreeing with this update is because they are forced to otherwise their Mod privileges would be snatched away by the all powerful OW.

These updates, in my high and glorious opinion, are trash. Literally Howrse thinks everything is cheating when the players start to get really good at certain aspects of the game. Which is quite ironic that they want to stop cheating but I can literally go grab you a list of players who are multi accounting using obvious names like Pickles123,Pickles1234, Pickles123456, and they are all friends and were made on the same day and when we players report this we get the same "Our glorious systems aren't flawed and will catch them". Also hasn't Howrse been asked to fix the lag? How come that isn't their top priority? Literally any other game, if a tons of players complained about lag like we have been complaining then that is automatically their first thing to fix...they don't add to the game. Sounds like Howrse is going downhill

That is good
As other's have said, 300 is better than the 100 that was originally proposed, but it's still not what I would have liked to see happen.

First off, I don't see posting hundreds of coverings as in any way cheating.

However I do think there was one annoying problem with public covers: and that's when you order the covers by GP (as I do), but to look at the second stallion you have to scroll through 10 pages of the first horse. I might want to use the second stallion if it's very close and/or has a colour I want (I have Tarpan) or is a bit lower in price.

I can also see that sometimes huge numbers of covers posted might contribute to lag. And it's a waste when they don't get used.

So in preprod I suggested they put on a limit on the coverings per stallion rather than per player. So for example a horse might only have 50 at a time (which would still be a couple of pages of covers). You'd be able to put up more as those got used.

I'm not convinced this is actually going to make a lot of difference to anything, unless you are lucky enough to get a top stallion. So probably pointless.

As stated above by another, I also believe that if there must be some sort of limit placed on public coverings, it should be per stallion instead of per player. If the original concern was that the same horse was flooding the public covers directory, then it should’ve made sense all along to have it done this way, as theoretically the same horse can still place 300 covers per 24 hours... But Howrse didn’t exactly clarify on how the public coverings were being utilized to cheat....

I don't see how giving out more than 300 coverings a day would be cheating, or how it would be like.. Anything. Maybe the amount of how many covers can one stud give out per day could be limited, but why try anything with the player's amount? What is this cheating?

Is that "Performances" thing going to be shown to ALL players? Seems a bit too non-pass-player friendly, but sure it would be great.

Yeah... I don't think limiting covers per horse is any better of an idea. Especially not when the number is reduced further.
For people wanting to breed up a good horse but unable to find the time to start their own breeding programs and whatnot, the public coverings are very useful. And if they have to race against other players to breed with a good horse, that'd be unfair on them.
If you want to avoid spammed floods of the same horse, use filters.

I checked the "Performances" thing, and it is total scam. Nothing you couldn't see literally few seconds later. Useless, pointless.

The first reaction to the notification howrse gave me, ''welp, a new update to ruin the game''

And hey, I was correct...

The Dev's Corner update we need is a change to the Breeders Wealth Privilege of 100e/day that hasn't been pinned to inflation over the years of this game. Where's the parity???

Really don’t understand how public coverings could result in cheating. Seems very counterintuitive to limit this as horse breeding is literally the main purpose of the game. Their main slogan is “Breed horses and manage an equestrian center”.

As for flooded covers, there’s a reason that the filter search exists, to really combat cover flooding you’d need to have a ridiculously low limit since you can only see like 20 covers per page. Just search for what you’re looking for instead of clicking through the pages of covers.

Moreover, for those who shrug this off because they aren’t doing mass breeding I urge you to consider what kind of precedent this is setting. They are putting a limit on a main function of the game, thus we should consider that it is possible these limits will continue to happen in other areas that you will care about.

We are not forced to agree with all updates. I have actually disagreed with several updates in the past. This one on limited covers I am natural on. If it does indeed stop cheating then it is a good thing. I never offer that many covers in a day, so it wont really effect me, and if it makes things more fair for other players then it should be good. I am very happy however on the change to the birthing page. So nice to see the stats there now!default smiley :)

I'm with everyone else on the covering limit confusion. How was it cheating? Was it really a big enough problem that the dev team felt like they needed to fix it ahead of fixing other issues?
I think if we got some kind of explanation or answer it might clarify the whole ordeal and make it less confusing.

Howrse makes everything cheating. Really puts you off the game. Soon it’ll be cheating to own too many horses or rank too highly default smiley (o) people working hard and getting money from it is hardly cheating. There are so many things that players have been complaining about for years that haven’t been changed, yet they prioritize things that aren’t even a real problem. It’s like they’re aiming to make this game more controlled and less enjoyable with every update default smiley (8)
