[Creation Space] Black Pearl Clarification

The Black Pearl

You need at least 60 days of seniority and 5 karma points to use the Black Pearl.

We want to clarify a few points regarding the proposals for the Creation Space.

Golden Apple

Using shadows:

You can use shadowing, but please keep it very light so that the images will fit with most backgrounds.

Cut out your edges more:

When we place the coats on a dark background, in some cases, there are stray light colored pixels around the drawing. This makes it impossible to use on a dark background.
Take a look at your coat on a white and on a black background, to get rid of any leftover smudges or pixels. Also, look a little further away at just the outline. Often, the coats have a smudge around the corners or along the border of the image.

Use the smudge or blur tool sparingly:

It's a pity to see a coat that has been worked on and then filtered with a blur filter, and it comes out all smudgy. It's also a pity to see a coat with smudge marks on one side and not the other.

Be careful when reformatting an image:

Sometimes we get drawings of "sausage horses" because the file has been altered, and the horse has been squashed or pulled in another direction. Also, avoid making your resolution too low and giving the picture a pixel art look.

Helios' Ray

Using brushes is allowed:

They can be used, but not in excess.
Seeing the same tree used four times in different backgrounds is starting to feel a bit repetitive, and it's also unfair. Since the aim of the Creation Space is to create things with your own hands, not to make photo manipulations. The same thing goes for photos.

Painting, blurring or smudging landscape pictures:

This is prohibited, and going forward, we may permanently ban players from the Creation Space for this.

Check the perspectives:

Please remember that the horse needs something to stand on. It's rather unusual to see a picture of a beautiful pond in the background while the horse appears to be floating in the middle of it.

The same goes for outer space, clouds, etc. The background should be usable for everyone, not just the Pegasus. Also, make sure the horses won't look like giants in the middle of a forest when you draw trees or other items.

Rules

Plagiarism is forbidden:

Plagiarism is taking someone else's work and passing it off as your own.
Respect the author's rights: don't steal images off the Internet; don't trace photos; don't use the basis of someone else if they have not given their authorization, preferably publicly.

You can draw inspiration from a style, a movement, or a coat without merely copying it. Use your imagination to express your unique personality and create something original.

Here's a quick recap of the things NOT to do in the Creation Space:

➞ Using 100% traced photos as a base for your work.
➞ Submitting AI-generated creations.
➞ Buying or selling a commission (purchased artwork).
➞ Drawing fanart (we don't ban players right away, but it could get us into trouble since we're monetizing it).

Players who submit an artwork not created by themselves, AI-generated, or plagiarized will be permanently banned from using the Black Pearl.

All the other rules still apply. Players who do not follow the rules are exposed to sanctions.

I promise I will figure out code someday

Progress! The link worked! The coats are looking lovely as well, maybe try adding some shading? Also the lines are part black, part green, is it possible to make it all black or all green? Or to make the color layer under the line layer?
By Retired breeder, 21st September 2020 20:11:18
It is possible to make the lines either one color or the other I just hadn't noticed that I didn't thank you. As for the shading I managed to upload the one without shading. I must've saved both to my phone.
Yeah, like make it look glassy and shiny like a cup by using hard highlights, and put some softer shading in the dark parts, otherwise it looks flat.

Sorry, I took your picture to show how you could do the shading, I hope you don't mind. default smiley :)
You can color drop the picture of the boba tea and use those colors on your horse:

I can’t draw horses, but I love this game, and I hope my drawing skills would get better!

So, I've got a bit of an update. My creation challenge coat will be uploaded this month, but the boba tea series will not as I can not figure out how to shade on my drawing tablet.default smiley (8)
What programs to draw do people recommend? I've used MediBang in the past but was wondering if there was another program that others likes that I can try out :P

That's okay, it does not look not too terrible without shading, it would just look a little bit improved. Not all artists actually shade their horses that they enter, so give it a try!
If you need any help with it, you can pm me and I can walk you through it. default smiley :)

Thank you, but I know it can look better with shading and it would bother me knowing I didn't put my best work forth

I’m new to this whole game how do I do these default smiley :s

You can draw or use a base that is specified to be able to used for the bp and make a coat or a background. And use the base to draw a coat. Personally, I use the app huion sketch and deviantart for bases. Its 195 passes (i believe) for the black pearl. If your art doesnt get in then you get the passes back the next month.

Just to add onto/reiterate what superocelot02 said, you can do them either by hand or on a digital art platform. The medium doesn't matter as long as the background is transparent. The bases are more often called linearts, and you can find free-use ones or make your own. Once the coat is done and the background is transparent, you upload it to the black pearl during the allotted time each month, which costs 195 passes, but you do get the passes back if your coat doesn't get accepted into the Creation Space. You can submit up to 10 coats every month.
So I was fortunate enough to have my coat go through this month! I was just wondering when people usually get their passes, whether it’d be at VIP early release or on the 26th

Read this thread through if you haven't already.

Just have a go... come back with any problems you have.

Don't expect it to be easy! Most people on here spend hours (if not days) on their stuff and still might not get something in every time.
