I'm sad.... I don't understand where Howrse is going with this. I mean, don't they see the differences here?? It's completely obvious that the most the current coats are way better.... default smiley :'(

So....Why has Hanoverian gotten a new coat but no others?

They're working on them slowly, eralune. Right now the warmbloods have received their new coats and the other breeds are soon to follow. Patience.

The new coats remind me a lot of the coats when howrse first started. The are not as glossy and I think they are duller. I agree that the current coats look more 'cartoon' like but this is a game. So the new coats look more realistic, but thats not going to make the game any more real. There are a few new coats I personally prefer to the old eg KWPN, however I love looking at the cute (shetland), glossy (connemara), different (mustang) coats. I personally think the current coats have a lot more character compared to the new, slightly lifeless ones. I'm not slating the artists, just voicing my entitled opinion. Abster default smiley :)

I think they should give us the options for which coats to use for each horse: the V3 ones or the new ones. They've done this for many of the other layout settings and it would make so much more sense to do it for this too. Yes, I know it would take up more coding space and time and money, but surely they can see how put off a lot of people are. People have spent so much time and money building up the breeding farms they have in a large part because of the image of the breed and now it's all changing... again!

I think the Mustangs in particular were better before with more character and they were a better representation of the breed. The Gypsy Vanners too have lost a lot of their personality and whilst I understand the need for a lack of feather on the Friesians, I think it's a shame to neglect that key part of their breed.

I do love the new warmbloods and amongst other breeds, I think the Shetlands, Nokotas and Arabs are nicer and more accurate. I loved the Knabbies before and whilst I'm not 100% sold on the new design, I'm sure I'll grow to love it. The Mustangs however... I'm really gutted that I'll have to abandon that entire breeding programme simply because I'm not entitled to the choice about which coat I would like.

I hate being so negative towards the artists who have obviously put a lot of time into this, but I feel that changes are being made where they're not necessary. Please at least give your users to option to choose what they want their horses to look like! This is my 7th year on the game but this latest change has really put me off continuing. I feel that all my hard work has been for nothing and I can't do anything about it!

Once again, I'm not saying don't bring in new coats as obviously many people love them, but I do believe that we deserve to have a say in whether we have to use them or not!

I agree with you on that. Although, I prefer the Mustangs new body, but the old head. Vanners I love all the feathering and fluffy mane and tails. Same goes with Friesians, I'd prefer a bit more feathering.

The Paint/Quarter/Criollo/Appie coat....just no. It looks all sorts of wrong to me. From what I've seen in previous pages, TWs will have a different coat from the Hackney/SB/Morgan which is great because the newer looks much closer to its realistic representation.

I just really hope they have a different coat for the Frisians, the lack of feathering i can deal with but the mane and neck look weird. almost like a curlly haird wig that isn't sitting right. that and they need to be more black.

I am in favor of the update as a whole, I'm not saying all coats are great but its more improvement then down fall and I mainly breed Friesians so im stuck no matter the out come but i do hope they will work on the Frisian coat a little more :: crosses fingers ::

Yay! The Horse Parade is here again! ^^ I was looking through converting point options, and I saw you could trade 300 for a Highland Pony Breed...are they like a Wild?? Also, are we going to soon have our own horses that look like the Parade ones? That would be so awesome!!! Someone please quote me if you know! I'm so excited!

Highland Pony Breed is a normal breed, not a wild (hence the colour variations) and they are bringing the parade style horses in currently. Warmbloods are already here and they're changing the others slowly over the next few days/weeks default smiley :)

I actually *Love* them all! I think Howrse did a great job with the coats...the Akel-Tekes look really nice too! I actually love the KWPN's, as they look like Parade horses!

they all are pretty nice but I think that new fjords should have a rounder butt and there is just something off about friesians and the Vanners are okay looking at them again. Shetlands are better but I think they should have a little feather on there legs.

Go to the very bottom of your Howrse page...there is something that says: Blog: Inside Howrse
Click that and scroll down to see new coats! Also, if you want to see them in this forum go to like page 136, and around there. Hope I helped!

I'm a little confused. Can someone explain to me what the "Big Challenge" is?
By Retired breeder, 27th March 2014 19:42:54
Hi there.

What about the foal coat? Will it remain the same? I'm just so curious. default smiley *-)

Anyway , I've always been waiting for some new coats for the horses (almost 4 years now ) . I have to admit , some of the old ones look a bit more realistic than the new ones. The new ones style kinda remembers me of the first generation horse coats . But they're all gorgeous.

I guess you can say it's a community project, at least from my understanding. But it's kinda 'foggy' for me as well. I'm not going to understand it until it's released or I'm invited to test (which I doubt I will).

I have seen a new GV foal coat some pages back, but it's been stated they're changing and they're not. So I'm not sure what is true.
