I make for schleich horses:
covers (velcro (optional), fabric, ribbon)
bridles (ribbon (optional), string)
breastplates (fabric or string or ribbon)
running martingales (string, lead wire)

And if my schleich saddles break I use a loom band (or two if you are putting the saddle on a very big horse), tie it onto the bit where you put the girth through, then hook it onto the stirrup on the other side when you do the girth up.

Me too. Mine keeps telling me that I'm too old for 'toy' horses. She's too busy with work too and so, we only see each other at dinner (if she's not away). And, she says we can't afford to buy them (we're a fairly well off family). She threw out all my homemade tack too. When i asked her, she said it was just rubbish and that it would be no use (it included the first ever bridle i made)

Good Idea Bonnie! I will do that! I have one more scene for Blue Ribbons then I have to edit which takes a few hours... My mom is very supportive of my collecting because when she was younger she played with dolls till a very old age, and her parents still appreciated her for it. So my mom now passes on that love. Whenever she finds deals for schleicch she yells for me with such an excited face, she is hilarious!

Can I have your mom, Val? default smiley :p She sometimes rolls her eyes at all my models, but I think by now she has learned to accept that I'm probably never going to grow out of collecting. Although she likes Breyers better than Schleich. I tried to explain to her that they are cute, smaller and cheaper than Breyers but I don't think she got it.

Mine won't let me paint models she is making me do all the hardest chores in the house and yelled at me cause I would not clean out her car! Only TWO things were min in there! A volleyball and my boots! And then she says I have an attitude! And this is what I think: *** *** ****
By Retired breeder, 11th June 2016 01:52:26
Harper, maybe your mom is really stressed out about something?

My mom doesn't really like my collecting. She says, "Don't you have enough horses?!" And "You bought more horses?!" And "Don't buy any horses!" (Hopeless cause). I think she understands that I love collecting, but she doesn't want me spending all my money on them or taking up my entire room.

Just remember adults have a lot of stress and other worries going on. She does sound like she's being harsh but try not to hate her. You're lucky to have a mum. Imagine having to live without one? Some people have that. Or have parents who beat them up, mentally and physically.
Always think, it could be worse.

Mine won't let me paint models either, unless they are already really scratched up, but that's because they are expensive and she doesn't want to waste her money or for me to waste mine, and I can understand that. I know you probably don't want to hear it, but your mom probably loves you and wants the best for you. I'm sure all the "hardest chores" aren't that hard, imagine all the kids who have to work to live? You have it pretty well off in that department. And you should willingly help out too! It's much, much more fun to willingly help out with a positive attitude than be negative and drag your feet around. Your mom is only one person, and helping her out, like cleaning the car, cleaning your room, taking out the trash, vacuuming, and things like that can really help out, and I'm sure she would be very grateful. I found that I took my mom's work for granted when my dad left, and helping her out has made me and her happier, and it makes things run a lot more smoothly.
