[Survey] Store: Halloween

HellOw!

With your assistance, we were able to help the Rider’s Store sell all of their inventory! How many coins did you make? Could you buy everything you wanted from the Shop?

We would like to gather your thoughts and feedback about the event. Below are a series of questions you can rate: What was good about the event? What can be improved? Ratings range from 1 (the lowest) to 5 (the highest).

We always appreciate your feedback, but please remember the forum rules and keep it constructive!

Thank you for your time and feedback!

Sincerely,
The Howrse Team

Poll

Found it fairly difficult to move forward in the game. I know the odds of finding a costume piece is randomised, but often ended up with lots of some costume pieces and none of others. Which would have been fine if the costume pieces I didn't have weren't the ones that all my customers wanted. And some of the costume pieces were too expensive to craft often.

The event was ok, but I really wish we were given an extra day or two just to spend our remaining coins. I couldn't log in before the event ended so I missed out on 2-3 more good items. One of the previous events did it great in my opinion - you have until a set date to acquire coins/tokens and an extra 2 days to spend whatever you have left over.

Nvm, my bad. I saw the banner for the coin store. But the repetition of certain clothing pieces and the price of BMI for the crafting of other really slowed down progress for me.

I am very satisfied with the rewards I got. This was a great opportunity to get items for my collections. I wish more events had uncommon items like these.

Well it was very hard to see the clothes choices on the mobile versiondefault smiley :(
Also I ended up having to make the same outfits over an over again and having to use passesdefault smiley :@ Making clothes is also getting more expensive like the economy, I don't think a game should keep getting more costly just to finish and event!

I finally figured out how to make items. I had assumed it was done in my EC workshop but it was on the event page, so I only had 2 riders at the end I was missing items for. I had lots of them before. It also seemed like items were distributed more evenly this time. Before, I would have lots of a few items and none of many others.

I didn't get to participate in this contest very long. I would have liked the contest to be longer, maybe more costumes and the ability to craft more items.

Overall this concept was really interesting and I think it has some really good potential.

Prizes seemed great even though I didn't play enough to earn anything. I think even a challenging game for fall season would be great if it was extended over the season

One thing I wish they did differently? I wish if you didn't have the specific shirt, pants or hat you needed that when you buy passes, you could buy like 4 or 5 of the same specific shirt, pants and hat. Since some of the children ask for the same outfits. Instead of using your passes just to buy 1. But that's just me.

I know you all put in a fair amount of work into these, but as mini games go this felt kinda.. lazy. It was very short, the cost to produce missing costumes was insanely high, the randomised clothing - both what the riders wanted and what we got - didn't feel random enough. I got 12 of one pair of pants, but didn't see one particular hat since I passed lvl 3. For a "Halloween Store" there wasn't actually a lot of Halloween stuff to buy: witch potion, pumpkin, and a hiking journal; the rest was just normal stuff.
The costumes themselves weren't inspiring, I played mostly on mobile because I'm an adult with a job, so there wasn't any opportunities to look closely at them either. Though honestly I'm less concerned about making minigames mobile optimised, but I kinda had to squint to see what they wanted.
I also didnt expect all the riders to only ever want items only from one set, I'm surprised the outfits weren't more mix and match, but with the visibility on mobile, that never would have worked. Sometimes the only time I knew what pants they wanted was because they wanted the hat and shirt in the same set.
Yes the game was easy to play, but in this case I think it was too easy. It reminded me of the early 00's flash dress up games for very young children.. (side note: man I miss flash games)
Next time, instead of children (which many of us already have irl) I've seen someone else suggest dressing up the horses? That would have been more engaging. Maybe some of the very old divine horses like the bellas and greyfells we don't see much anymore? Or dress up the non-rainbow coloured animal companions. You don't have to award them as prizes, but it would be more interesting than humans.
Good work on the racial diversity of the children though, I'm glad you didn't get lazy and make only white children models. Still roome for improvement, but I'd just recc dropping the human aspect all together. Much easier. We already have horses.
I think that nicely sums up several points others and I had.

Overall, I dislike this event. The Halloween costumes was a nice change and most of them were cute, but the event itself is still very annoying. As usual, there was a few costumes that either only came up once or twice or not at all which made them being in my closet useless and the ones I needed parts for didn't get restocked

*sigh* Thought we had another day for this. Had no warning of it ending. Didn't get to claim anything with my points, or get even partial points with what I had left. This is one of the harder ones to progress because you never get the pieces you need and there are too many peices to be able to get what you need. Reduces the odds of getting what you need. I've never been a real fan of this promo, but they don't listen to these surveys anyway so I've given up trying to give them opinions.

It was always stated to end today, with the divine Crown offer to end tomorrow.

The prize page is still active to claim gifts. There should be a banner at the top of the page, but this link for the prize page should also take you to it

The PM we got, sent on the 16th, told us we had 12 days. It wasn't a case of 'no warning', as everyone signed up at the time this promo went live got the pm. There's also the fact that almost every promo ends a day before the crown.

This is the pinnacle of the lazy events I've seen these last couple of months. To me, it feels like little thought was put into this. The "random" mechanic for getting clothes items was off-kilter and I kept getting things I couldn't use. It seems I was not alone here.

Unless you dumped thousands of passes into this event, there is no possible way anyone could have gotten a second Ow's Apple. I spent a couple hundred passes and still had 10 riders I couldn't dress. I had so many of just a few pieces, which was totally useless.

The prizes were fine, nothing too crazy. I'm always happy to get Halloween stuff.

If I could make one major change to this event, it would be an exchange mechanic. Trade 2 of one thing to get one of another, or something to that effect. Since all the items we got were totally random, this would add value to the pieces and actually make it possible to progress with such a short timeframe.

2/5

ah yes, the "random" requests that had I think 8 red dragons and zero green, despite the red set never dropping more than maybe once or twice. yay.

there's a reason this is one of my least favorite events on the site whenever it rolls around. also it's just extremely boring, you spend about two minutes doing comps at rollover and then nothing for the rest of the day if you pulled twelve witch items and every kid that shows up wants to be (the exact same, not even the alt color either) pirate.

also felt kinda skeeved to be dressing kids in traditional looking clothing "costumes" (those masks especially). I know France and Europe in general has a different culture around wearing outfits and makeup like that than in the US, but as a big portion of the userbase that would see it in a certain way, especially after the 'My Culture Is Not A Costume' movement a year or two ago, it definitely reads... ugh. like there's SO MANY possibilities for costumes to go with witches and skeletons, were werewolves off the table? knights and generic princess? heck, use an Ow dressup as the final outfit?

also a 2:1 exchange or similar would be fantastic. kinda shocked the prize shop wasn't open after the end for a lil while, too.

The USA as a whole is not represented by anti-halloween-costume activists. If an activist would like to speak for themself, fine; just don't imply that the entire rest of the country agrees with that; because plenty of people don't go around policing children's fun

What happened to the store? All that work and didn't get to redeem! They always warn us when it ends and give extra time to redeem. Very unfair and ridiculous. Might have to take a break from here

?????
not gonna lie, I'm just baffled by this very angry response? also like???? this event isn't Meanie Activists Policing Children's Fun, this is a website run and made by adults, for a multicultural audience, and owned by a multi-million dollar company trying to sell you fake currency at a premium. default smiley (lol)

this isn't the first time howrse has used traditional cultural clothing in poor taste either. And yes, I am *well* aware that a portion of the country likes to actively antagonize and monopolize on exploiting others despite explicitly being asked not to, thanks.

Not sure if I was the only one with this issue, but I could not leave the Halloween store unless there were no more kids in line! Every time I would try to go back to my horses page or anywhere else, it would refresh and send me back to kid one. If I tried to go to another kid, it would send me back to kid one. If I left the game and logged back in, I would get a few minutes of gameplay before it sent me back to kid one. As for the mini game itself, I really liked it.

To Yasha: yes I had that issue too. Only if I logged out it would stop until I went back to it but yes if I was logged in even if I tried to go care for my horses it would go back to the first kid. That was highly annoying, I almost destroyed my tablet over it but restrained myself from tossing it against the wall. But otherwise once I got it going and some people helped me understand how to get going on it, it was quite fun with nice rewards.
To these troublesome others: I can't believe a chat that was supposed to be about your thoughts on an event got turned around to a hate mongering political debate! And some of it sounding really angry didn't make much sense. Really? This is not a place to voice your views of the government or anti-whatever groups. This isn't supposed to be about any religious beliefs or public views or whatever of a holiday. It is just for "did you like the game or not","how can we make it better" answer/comments. Jeez I can't go no where anymore without drama. If I had kids I think I'd keep them from this game for all the drama brewing.

Idk how you managed to get Ow's Apple without spending passes? I didn't miss any riders, but I still was 3 riders short from obtaining it.default smiley (o) Can somebody explain?
