This thread is here to show off your Retired Coats. This is not the place to post non retired coats. **The two exceptions would be coats that have been pulled (brief discussions) and the pre release coats.
REMEMBER:
******** absolutely no sales talk, no talk about spares or how many extras of a copy you got and selling them to fund your RC habit this is just a place to talk RCs
* although links and graphics are ok on this thread, they are not allowed normally on public forums
* any negative or unkind comments on artists or coats (or anyone!) will be removed, and depending on the case, it might mean an instant forum ban.
* DO NOT use this as a place to sell your horse/coats-if you feel the need to break this rule, it will mean an instant forum ban...
** Sales ads are NOT allowed in any public forums. Asking for spare coats will now be considered a sales ad. This includes stating that you plan to sell a coat, or point out coats for sale in sales.
* Do not use this place as a spot for rants or complaints-About coats/BG/or each other.
* This is not the place to ask players to price your coats, or to ask others the worth of a coat, you can check uses on your own by hovering your mouse over the gray apple and price it from there.
* This is not the place to bring up the subject of stolen images. Keep in mind that the rules of the BP used to be very different, and many old coats are from that time.
There is not any reason to bring that up, or report the coats.
*Please do not do a coat countdown for soon to retire coats.
* Please do not post coats that are currently in the GA and have either not retired, or will never retire.
* Please do not post coat/bg combos or ask opinions on them, except following coat release.
* Some coats may be removed in the future, whether that be for problems with the coats itself or just because they're clearing room on the server to allow other coats to be uploaded - if you're buying retired coats, please keep that in mind. If you want a permanent copy, I would recommend saving the graphic to your computer
* How to discover who many uses a New GC coat will retire-There is now a coat countdown in the GA, and it will show how many have been used and how many uses there are left.
** There is now a new creations directory which shows all coats. Go to Community>>>Directories>>>Creations>>>Click more criteria, and on the left hand side is a gold and silver apple. Click the silver apple and search to see all retired coats.
* To see who created/how many uses/name/or if you have it already of a RC coat, simply click on the silver apple, and it will tell you.
*** Posting links to other player's coats is NOT allowed and can mean a forum ban.
*#*#*#* If players feel the need break the main topic rules, such as sales ads/coat countdowns/spares-you can expect an instant forum ban without any warning prior to it *#*#*#*

For me, this one will always be "the one that got away":
I got up early for coat release specifically to get him, but he was gone before I could even see him
Hopefully someday I'll be able to find a copy in sales *and* be able to afford it (it seems only one of those things are true at any given time
)
The other three that are on top of my list are these:

This is one i got not too long ago...its called SeaKing. Sometimes i get a little tired of the fishy theme (or any theme that is seemingly overdone at times), but i find this one is pretty and interesting to look at!
Plus its an oldie goldie!

Been a minute since I was in here, but here are the RCs I've picked up in the last month and a half!
The two Ares coats were my top ISOs, and are coats I never thought I'd own, so I am very grateful to the people who sold me them!!

Nice to see older coats getting some love! And exposure in here, pre creation space coats are by far my favourites, the best era of collecting by far
I do however love the ghost coat just above too. Love me a quirky creation!

I didn’t know about those coats existence for awhile once I started in here
How did coats get released back in the day before the system was created? How many “sections” were there? Most importantly how did you know when a coat was going to retire?

You didn't know, and that was what made it more fun, no bun fights to grab a coat before it went, and being held to ransom constantly if you missed one. We collected coats we liked and hoped we had a copy when they went.
In the very early days creators could open and close their costs at will. They got passes per x used (4 I think) up to 200 uses then no more passes were earned at this point.
As collecting retired coats became a thing, some players starting opening and closing their coats to profit from selling retired coats, or in some cases charging players directly to open up so They could get a copy, this was stopped fairly promptly, and players could choose to leave their coat open or retire it. Once retired, even if under 100 copies, that was it under the new ruling.
The new ruling going forward was that the coat could be retired by creator when it hit 100 or more copies, so collecting coats reaching that milestone became a target. Some players would give collectors a heads up that the coat would retire at 100 or whatever amount of uses. Obviously many chose to keep them in game of not delay this information.
Originally when players left they could select to retire their coat, regardless of uses, or keep it in play. New rules saw coats from deleted accounts automatically retired, as is still the case with pre creation space coats, and this saw a period of glitches, where some players were gone but some coats still remained.
The black pearl was only available once or twice a year and every submission was accepted as long as formatting was correct. The rules have changed too, hence some very early coats were photo manips etc under different rulings.
There were horse, pony and peg coats (same for horses and ponies) and then unis were added too (again same coats for horses and ponies).
In its hey day rare coats were passes over by myself as far too spendy at 3 passes (original max was 10 passes, then raised to 20) , and at auction 50 to 60k was considered expensive ok
. We were no where near as rich as now, and 3 passes was the equivalent to 300 now.
If only we knew...

I remember back then it took me a while to figure out how the whole RC thing worked. If only I would have known more then lol but at the same time, back in the good old days it seemed a lot more difficult to acquire wealth to collect GA's than it is today. Maybe it just seems that way because I was a youngen and had no idea how to deal with money haha Either way, I got super lucky with some of the RC copies I have now that I did end up placing on my horses back then but as for the rest I am forever stuck paying extraordinary prices for all of the RC's I missed out on
I have accepted my fate though and still love it to this day!
Here are some of the copies I was lucky enough to collect back then that are still my most favorite to this day

Oh man, if you want to talk about coats that got away, I used to own a copy of Neo, a 6 use RC:
I ended up selling it at auction for equus. I got a decent amount for it, but I'll never see that coat again.
On the flip side, I am happy to have picked up a copy of Colour Splash! Another coat I once owned and sold. Child me made very bad decisions

Reading about the good 'ole days. . . . Sure do miss those days on Howrse! I wish I had all the coats I had collected when I was a kid on the game. So many I am sure I will likely never get again. Makes for some fun coat hunting though! I love the nostalgia of the pre cs coats
