I don't really use my EC other than for growing crops, would my best bet with these new updates to put my EC location where the resources I would find would be most expensive/abundant?

i am semi-new to howrse, but AWESOME ideas!!!!! all of you must be so lucky to have the patience to come up with and DESIGN all of your ideas! i look at 'em and im like, "default smiley *-)....default smiley (7)"
i only looked at one page because there are probally thousands of pages default smiley xd i only needed one page to be impressed though!

The set date will be for everyone, You will not get a full 30, but you will get a tutorial.

You really just need to figure out your game plan and what you want to do, and how fast you want to get there. Then figure out what resource is best for you.

Yes, everyone did - it's a heads up being sent out so that people can brace for it, as well as a way to let everyone know there's a chance the site might be lagging that day and/or inaccessible for a time due to the updates.

What can I use iron for? What resource will benefit the growing of crops? Also, which location will be best to choose first since I'll have a few days to change my decision?

Yes - this is possible (it is one of 3 Jackpot prizes) - but it is very, very, very, very, very, very, *10 more verys*, very, rare to happen. Since the Treasure Chest was added - I only heard of One person getting a Jackpot prize (and that was on the Australian Server).

That aside ~ bringing this forward to help people decide what might be best for their center based on what resources are used for. It does NOT cover how much of each is needed to make something, how long it takes, etc. It is simply a list of all items - and what they are used for (apologies if I missed anything):

If an item is listed under more than one category, it means that it takes all of those things to Craft/Repair the item in question (so for example; Saddles are listed both under Leather and Iron as they take both of these)

Wood

Repairs:
Boxes
Workshops
Greenhouses

Crafting:
Boxes
Workshops
Greenhouses

Iron

Repairs:
Boxes (With showers and/or troughs - not sure if its used for those without showers/troughs)

Crafting:
Saddles (any kind)
Bridles (any kind)
Shower
Water trough
Feed trough
Tractor
Horseshoe Studs bonus
Spurs bonus

Sand

Repairs:
Boxes
Workshops
Greenhouses

Crafting:
Boxes
Workshops
Greenhouses

The following items are ONLY used for Crafting!

Leather:
Saddles (any kind)
Bridles (any kind)
Whip bonus
Lunge bonus
Bell boots bonus

Flax (bedding):
Polo wraps
Bonnets
Saddle Cloths

Droppings:
1* fertilizer
2** Fertlizer
Manure Fertilizer

Straw (bedding):
Manure fertilizer

Apples:
Mashes

Wheat Bran:
Mashes

Flax Seed:
Mashes

So if you want a Center with a lot of boxes - the Beach or Forest might be best for you as you get Wood and Sand (both of which are used to repair and build boxes). If you want to be able to offer things like Troughs, showers, and tack - the Mountains might be better as you can get Iron to produce these things with.

It's all going to come down in the end to what you want to do with your center.

iron is used to craft water and feed (?) throughs and a few more items (have a look back a few pages, someone has posted it there) the location depends on how you want to start of your EC although i wouldn't recommend beach as your final location as this turns away BLUPpers with high skillers horses

Iron is used for;
All 6 different kinds of Bridles
All 6 different kinds of Saddles
Spurs
Horseshoe studs
Water Trough
Showers
Tractors
Feeding Trough

You'll get straw from Wheat which is used in the best fertilizer.
Wheat bran is also used in mashes. (As are apples)
Leather is used in.. lots of stuff.
Flax is used for ear bonnets, polo wraps and saddle cloths.

The location depends on what you want to produce default smiley :p

Hi I might guess this is a forum topic about the updates that howrse will be doing, I had message from howrse this next update and I saw some images but I didn't quite see them that I think happened is because I am on a mobile version and the images looked squeezed someone please tell me what the images should be looked like?

Images from left to right:
iron
wood
sand
leather

They are the new materials being added with the update. I would tell you what their purpose is but I don't really know myself default smiley ;). I think in some earlier posts on this topic it explains what the purpose is of each item.

The images from Howrse's message are pictures of the resources we will need to craft things from our workshop: Iron, Wood, Sand and Leather.

I'm glad that Howrse sent a message as a quick reminder about the EC updates. Last time there were major updates, I logged on and had absolutely no idea what had happened!
