Inheriting Skills

When you cover a mare, does the foal get their skills from them when they are covered or when they are born? For example, if I finish training a skill after my mare is covered but before they give birth, do they get their skills based on the before or after?

The skills of a foal's parents don't affect the foal's inborn skills (IBS)--only the parents' GP and BLUP affect IBS.

BLUP at the time of covering is what is taken into account, so if your mare's BLUP increases after she's covered, the foal's IBS is not impacted.
