GP of foal question

I can't seem to find info anywhere. Is the GP of a foal determined by his parents' skills, or by the parents' GP? And how exactly do you go about raising the GP of horses through the generations? Just curious.

Skills don't count at all in breeding, only the GP and BLUP of the parents. The best foals will be got from both parents having 100 BLUP and the GP of the foal will be an average of the parents plus a bit. If the parents are near to the top GP on the game for their breed, the foal gain will be very small, if the parents' GP is at the lower end, the foal gain in GP will be larger.

Raising GP is done by breeding from the highest GP parents possible at 100 BLUP, though some people breed at a slightly lower BLUP.
