Poll

Honestly wasn't very pleased with it at all. Taking away the community challenge made the Great Challenge feel useless, especially with the poor prizes. The prizes under the key weren't good, either.

For the lottery, two draws is disappointing, and the prizes weren't anything to make up for it. With the community event we always got AT LEAST three draws, maybe four occasionally.

2/10 event for me, unfortunately

This one was much better than any other great challenge since I've been playing honestly. I was quite happy with my prizes, so not many complaints. But the biggest thing I will always ask to change is the price for the key! 600 passes is a hefty price tag for those who can't afford it.

Most players talk about the objectives, which do help, but they fail to realize that some objectives aren't possible for some players to complete, as they don't have the horse needed, tack needed, or divine needed, nor the means to get them.

Lowering the price of the key to half, around 350, would allow for other players to hopefully be able to afford the key for themselves. If this event continues the way it did this time, with the added lowering of the passes needed for the key, it would be the perfect howrse event

I do find this event a bit boring, especially the challenge, lottery not too bad but I really think
the store should go along with the clovers, and go back to winning random prizes as before,
never did win any tickets all I got were clovers and not many random prizes, and the prizes were not that special, HG as a top prize seriously, not good, I am sure there could have been a better top prize.

Most of us speak from experience. We know promos over 3 weeks in advance , with it being shared in the spoiler zone. If the promo has a key, we will know as soon as test goes live on the Tuesday after the previous event added. That means players have over a month to save up for the key, which is 20 days of doing both objective. (3 weeks in advance knowledge, then the 12-13 days we have of the actual challenge portion. This is the case for any promo that uses the key, as we can go back and claim prizes)

I know people like to be surprised, but if you want to make the most of an event, the spoiler zone is something you should make a habit of visiting shortly after an event ends. We share all that we know there.

Even without having all the horses, tack, etc, that are required, it should still be doable for the majority to manage. Trust me, I know, I just did it on another server where I had under 100 days prior to the challenge start. And this is a server that I play very casually and has way less things to go around. Not a single pass has been purchased, it was all objective passes within the time of knowing about the challenge.

My only complaint was that one of the objectives was unobtainable for several days. We can't enter the grand prix over the weekend. Could we have a different objective become available just for those days the grand prix isnt?
For the amount of real world money I spent ($0AUD) I thought the gifts were fantastic, though I'm a little bummed that I didn't get the divine. However, I would love to suggest that more than one divine be winnable in these kinds of games? It would be nice to see some of the much older ones circulating occasionally

First half of the game was good, as usual, my favorite half of the game.
Second half... Never fun.

Sent friend requests to get help, got nothing back, so I quit asking.
UFOs were extremely rare and barely popped up, so I quit looking.
The x3 price jump was too much... Wasn't it x2 before?
So I'd only get up to about 4 tickets each time.
I knew the prizes were going to be 'meh' anyway, so I wasn't interested.
Clover prizes were okay, managed to get a Hestia's Gift.
Random draw got me two shark companions.
I think out of all the gifts and random gifts, those were the best ones available to me.

I was a little disappointed. The great challenge, is an alright event. But on days where you don’t have tons of time to give the game, it’s a bit taxing to accomplish it all. Especially if, like me, you bought the key and have the extra 20 horseshoes.

My bigger disappointment though, goes for both parts of the events. The prize pool left a little something to be desired. A lot of lower quality gifts to choose from or to get. The last Great Challenge seemed a little bit better.

Then for the lottery… boy, I think having brought the key should award you more than just a singular extra ticket. Since the prizes of value(higher level BMI) were few and far between in the draws our extra ‘bonus’ seemed like a pittance. It should either guarantee us a mid-high level prize per round, or be worth 5 regular lottery tickets as it really seems like we paid for something that wasn’t a bonus at all. Especially for non-pass buying players, that’s a lot to spend on something that other than a fairly useless divine that takes forever to breed, doesn’t award anybody with much.
And the great challenge bonus should be constantly active, it was paid for, it shouldn’t have the chance for us to forget it and not get to put it into play.

All that said, I did walk away with a few useful things for my game, so I’m not unhappy, it just wasn’t what I was hoping for.

Howrse probably thinks that giving BMI that advanced players find useful to beginners or intermediates is too OP, so that's why they're sticking to H. Gifts and the like because beginners and intermediates (like me, lol) are dying for those. I'm sure advanced players have Friggjas and Carnivorouses dropping H. Gifts at their feet, so H. Gifts being a clover prize is not very useful. I guess any advanced BMIs also isn't useful to beginners because they can't use them until they get a certain horse which can. Howrse probably doesn't care about what advanced players want at this point. default smiley :-x

Some players also don't log on every day or have the time or even want to do certain daily objectives. Right now, I have a quest to ride on the beach for 30 hours which I'm too busy/lazy to do. default smiley (b) It's only a 10 pass objective anyway so eh. Some players also don't like doing the "remove a unicorn's horn" or "remove a WoY" objective even if they could which is totally fine. (I'm glad they removed the "remove a pegasus' M. Blood", though, that made no sense!) Also, some players might want to save up passes for other things like creation release days. default smiley (7) Or weekend promos. I do agree with Oathkeeper about the Spoliers thread, I got to prepare in advance for some previous events. (I once missed a H. Gift prize because I woke up an hour too late, though, but at least I tried! default smiley :-)))

I think the GC objectives are doable even for beginners if you have the time and a good strategy (like by riding one increment at a time or by equipping polo wraps and ear bonnets on spare adult AP horses). I wasn't logging on for majority of those days though so oh well. default smiley :p (I'm pretty busy nowadays which is why I took a break from Howrse for a while, so I'm not doing much but working my daily divines and AP horses, which are also my Unicorns In Blood draft horses). I don't think I missed any amazing prizes, though, and I'm not using my passes on any premium keys. I'm not a Zonkeymily fanatic or anything, though it would have been nice to sell the Zebra for passes. I found the community objective useless anyway since we never got 4 draws, always three. It's pretty much a guaranteed third milestone and a disappointment for not getting to the last for every GC, so it's good Howrse finally realized how useless it was.

I was there for the lottery, though, because I really wanted H. Gifts. I only got one (which I used on Flame, my Iris draft uni, and I got uni colts, though not Iris, but it's fine because I already have two Iris breedable pairs from Flame's previous coverings), but at least I got 3 M. Bloods for the next creation release! default smiley (7) Also some colored tack and lots and lots of droppings! default smiley :p

I liked that I only had to log on only two times because I wasn't that active the entire day. I would have rage-quit if I had to miss a draw or do comps all three times. default smiley ^) At least 2 clovers for a ticket is not a prize anymore (I remember that in the last Lottery I attended default smiley :o) but with the scale of these prizes 10 clovers is not a lot. Maybe if I spend a million equus on tickets, then I could have gotten 3000 clovers in no time! But honestly, I can do better things with those million equus, like buy 10 M. Bloods from the Piggy Bank! Certainly worth more than what's in the clover shop. default smiley :p Also, I'm a bit worried about why a Shower and 10 APs costs nearly as much as a M. Blood. default smiley :o I guess it's justified if you're buying equus with passes for the Shower or spending passes on APs? default smiley (a)

I accepted all prizes because the chances of me redrawing and then getting better prizes was probably 1%. default smiley :p Also, I was mainly focusing on clovers for H. Gifts, so the other prizes didn't matter so much to me. I got a Phanes' Egg and a Piece of Cloud, though, so yay! default smiley :-)) (Kinda sarcastic, but anything comes in handy.) I never got any other useful BMIs directly from the draws sadly. I really wanted more PoCs and Phanes' Eggs at the very least (for my Iris draft unis)! The most useful was Artemis' Arrows. That might come in handy to save APs, maybe, or to complete a reproduction BMI quest. default smiley ^) I'm also a bit salty because I didn't get two H. Gifts even though I was pretty close (2800 clovers in total) but at least I got one at all. Other events usually don't have them, only Starry Auras and Companion sets which I find pretty useless because they don't give fragments for any divine in particular and I'm not collecting every single companion. default smiley ^) They're great for skillers, I guess, but I'm not in the skilling business right now. default smiley ;)

I like the Lottery the most because at least you can get the top clover prize midway through the event. In others like the Maze (the one where I woke up an hour too late default smiley :-))), the last map prize of the Maze (like H. Gifts) is easier to miss without using passes or logging on every single day. default smiley ;)

I still wish divines didn't need fragments to be won and instead you can get the entire divine for free by doing everything correctly. default smiley (d) I remember getting a Falabella back in 2020 (on a previous account, of course) without any fragments needed whatsoever. In 2024 (on this account), I also got a Liana free of charge from one of the previous Merge events, so that was cool! Getting fragments through luck items or Ascent of Olympus is pretty slow and costly, and Starry Auras are just weird. I know it's good for progression towards a certain divine without losing progress entirely, but it still feels slow and expensive compared to just getting a divine as a grand prize immediately. That's just my two cents about fragments in general, though, not this event specifically. default smiley ^)

Anyway, I'm pretty optimistic so I'm happy with what I get. I'm still salty that no Hestia's divines were released for the past couple of months or so, though. default smiley (o) (default smiley (lol))

Going to copy and paste what I wrote in the event topic as my feedback for the Great Challenge:

If they added a few more BMIs, stopped removing the Harmony Pack(!), made the aps 17 instead of 5 and 12, made the pass seeds 25 instead of 5 and 20, made the Victory tack a whole pack instead of pieces, added extra Lottery tickets, and added extra divine frags, then I would consider the key more worth it. In my opinion, there's no reason why the APs, pass seeds, and tack need to be pieced out like that. They're being used as filler, taking up prize slots and taking away prizes we could have otherwise had, and there's just no reason to do it that way. Other than for Howrse to be greedy and sneaky.

We can win all of these prizes for free in every other promo, so I really do expect more when it suddenly has a paywall. Technical pass worth and an almost worthless Jenny doesn't suddenly make these things more special for me, in my personal opinion.

In regards to the Lottery portion, I actually liked the draw prizes. The best thing I won was a GF, which I won twice (passed on it once though, so technically only won it once). I was really hoping to win an Eros' Egg, but, really, knowing the type of luck I have with ALL the luck based promos, I should have managed my expectations better. Even still, I thought my odds would have been a little better considering the changes made. Guess not...

The Clover Shop prizes were bad and underwhelming. I still haven't picked mine out. Considering it's a pick your prize concept, and we can't get many of one prize, I don't know why they didn't have it stacked with nice stuff.

I was a little disappointed in the Great Challenge this time around. I managed to get the key, so I was able to get the Jenny at the end & I really wanted one that was a Unicorn. Well the only one that had a horn on it, had an ugly, bent horn. But, since I wanted a Uni Jenny, I chose it. My daughter was really lucky, the Jenny she picked had wings & a nice straight horn & the coat pattern wasn't too bad either! Lucky her. I just hope that after I get my Zebra & Jenny Trained & Blupped and breed them, that I luck out & get a Uni foal & that it's horn is a straight one. Unicorn horns are straight, not bent.

This is the first time I've completed the Great Challenge and gotten the divine (which I sold immediately since I couldn't do anything with him) The last times I played (a year or two ago) I feel like there were way more good prizes and less companions. The only prizes valuable to me from the Great Challenge were the breeding BMIs. So not too great but not too bad.

However, I was disappointed in the small amount of gifts offered in the lottery since most of them were almost the same thing as what I got in the Great Challenge.

It was an OK event but not my favorite since it took such a large amount of horses donated to get enough horseshoes everyday. For me this event just wasn't the best.

The prizes with the key weren't quite as good as in previous times. I chose to get one because i wanted a unicorn jenny, but when i got to chose my jenny, the one that was shown in the ads for them wasn't available. i really wanted the one i saw in the ad for the contest. Also, tripling the cost of the prizes was a bit much, i thought.

On the plus side, i really appreciate that i am given the results of the draws even though i didn't get logged in that day, and we are given a few days after the close of the contest to buy our prizes. i have lost out in other contests because i am very busy in the morning and sometimes don't get logged in until after a contest closes, sometimes losing prizes. i was very happy to see i was given credit for the draws even though i didn't push the button saying i accepted them. Thank you!

Not my favorite event. I don't enjoy the great challenge at all as it takes way to long to do and honestly the prizes this time were pretty meh. I do enjoy the lottery and I actually prefer only having two draws a day as I only play once a day so don't feel like I'm missing as much. I was able to get the hestia's gift which is all I really wanted. It takes very little time to play and not a lot of coins or resources. I do, however wish it lasted a bit longer!

I like the lottery part of it just fine. It's easy to do, doesn't take a lot of time and minimal coins and it's nice to have a choice of what BMI's to trade clovers for. I really do not like the Great Challenge part though and I wish the events weren't tied together. Maybe the lottery could be done a little more often? The Great Challenge, quite frankly is a Great Bore. Gaining a point here and there by doing actions is just a waste of time, not enjoyable and the prizes were so mediocre. Paying passes for the golden key was a waste too as there weren't even very many good prizes there either. I also agree with what others have said about not being able to do the Grand Prix on the weekends so why make that an objective? All in all, not a great event.

The prizes in the great challenge very poor...... Tired of the donkey divines and the extra 600passes for the extras well wasnt really worth the spend

Im missing the good knights or samurai tack that hasnt been available for a while now in events

which is annoying as you cant make them or purchase them

The new Bonus for jumping ect very disappointing to only be getting 1 instead of the 4 we where getting before...

For the lottery being a very old player on this game its never going to be as good as it used to be....

Spending passes on BMIs used to get you several golden tickets also the prizes where so much better

Only getting 2 goes each day was very annoying mine was at 2am in the morning...

The tickets got supper expensive so after 6 tickets it was not worth going for more... they should double each time you buy them as the outcome in prizes really does not compensate how much you spend on the event,...

The gold ticket should just be automatic and you shouldn't need to have to click it each time which is very annoying

The prizes for the clovers werent very good and nothing decent with each draw

Over all this event has lost so much i dont even look forward to it anymore

Also its hard to do normal game play with constant events

i Think the events should go on for a month

giving you enough time to enjoy the event and not get all stressed to try and complete event and your daily howrse game chores

The lotto used to be my favourite event when it was just the lottery also it doesnt go on for very long

I think the only positive thing about the lottery this time around is that I got a big prize, once. I got a bunch of smaller prizes too that weren’t clovers but none were very notable or exciting. I have mixed feelings about the change to the number of draws; some good, some bad. I really liked that they added more prizes to be won and the smaller prizes seemed more varied, but that was the only positive. It certainly was an improvement, only missing 3 total instead of at least one a day, but again, I missed 3 draws. I guess it left some nostalgia for the early to mid 2010s version of the lottery where you could win tickets with tickets and usually secured at least one entry into the next draw.

Ticket prices were kind of an on the fence issue. While they were pretty costly, especially after you got to ticket 6, the fact that there were only two draws a day helped keep that cost down. I wish they would double instead of triple though; with fewer draws, more tickets would have increased the prizes per player.

Maybe do something more with the golden ticket too. Make it automatic (so we don't have to click to use it, which is an action that can be forgotten) and/or have special golden ticket drawings. Like have the regular lottery and then a special lottery with only BMIs of varying rarity/Divine frags that you can only access via the golden ticket, so only one entry per player, per draw. I feel like a special draw would add a little incentive to buy the premium key. As it is, I feel like it is false advertising because a)you have to activate it to use it (which, again, can be forgotten) and b) if I remember correctly, it is advertised as an extra ticket for every draw, but isn't true because of reason a.

I felt the clover shop was disappointing. Like some BMIs were great and useful, but there wasn't a lot that was like "Oh, I need that". I felt a lot more of "Uh...I guess I'll get that, this and uh...that?". I would have loved to see a water trough and a tractor in there, because I can’t remember when I last got a water trough or tractor, yet several events in the recent past have featured a feeder(which aren't as valuable as showers/troughs/tractors imo).

The Great Challenge/Lottery is starting to become my least favorite event. The prizes of the GC are pretty predictable: some (usually) mediocre BMIs, maybe tack fragments and Zonkeys/Jennies and an Eros egg (that can only really be used on Jennies/Zonkeys, which I dislike). The only real highlight is that I can usually collect 100 horseshoes a day just through my normal day-to-day gameplay. But that's it; it's very forgettable overall.
