[Info] The Retired Coat Gallery

This thread is here to show off your Retired Coats. This is not the place to post non retired coats. **The two exceptions would be coats that have been pulled (brief discussions) and the pre release coats.

REMEMBER:

******** absolutely no sales talk, no talk about spares or how many extras of a copy you got and selling them to fund your RC habit this is just a place to talk RCs

* although links and graphics are ok on this thread, they are not allowed normally on public forums

* any negative or unkind comments on artists or coats (or anyone!) will be removed, and depending on the case, it might mean an instant forum ban.

* DO NOT use this as a place to sell your horse/coats-if you feel the need to break this rule, it will mean an instant forum ban...

** Sales ads are NOT allowed in any public forums. Asking for spare coats will now be considered a sales ad. This includes stating that you plan to sell a coat, or point out coats for sale in sales.

* Do not use this place as a spot for rants or complaints-About coats/BG/or each other.

* This is not the place to ask players to price your coats, or to ask others the worth of a coat, you can check uses on your own by hovering your mouse over the gray apple and price it from there.

* This is not the place to bring up the subject of stolen images. Keep in mind that the rules of the BP used to be very different, and many old coats are from that time.
There is not any reason to bring that up, or report the coats.

*Please do not do a coat countdown for soon to retire coats.

* Please do not post coats that are currently in the GA and have either not retired, or will never retire.

* Please do not post coat/bg combos or ask opinions on them, except following coat release.

* Some coats may be removed in the future, whether that be for problems with the coats itself or just because they're clearing room on the server to allow other coats to be uploaded - if you're buying retired coats, please keep that in mind. If you want a permanent copy, I would recommend saving the graphic to your computer

* How to discover who many uses a New GC coat will retire-There is now a coat countdown in the GA, and it will show how many have been used and how many uses there are left.

** There is now a new creations directory which shows all coats. Go to Community>>>Directories>>>Creations>>>Click more criteria, and on the left hand side is a gold and silver apple. Click the silver apple and search to see all retired coats.

* To see who created/how many uses/name/or if you have it already of a RC coat, simply click on the silver apple, and it will tell you.

*** Posting links to other player's coats is NOT allowed and can mean a forum ban.

*#*#*#* If players feel the need break the main topic rules, such as sales ads/coat countdowns/spares-you can expect an instant forum ban without any warning prior to it *#*#*#*

Okay, I've been wondering, Hennessy coats, is there a reason why everyone is always jumping to get them, or is it simply everyone likes the style? Don't get me wrong, I think they look very nice, but I think that lots of artists have nice coats, so I've just been confused why specifically Hennessy gets so much attention and was wondering if I was just missing something.

@ SilverLotusLamer I have often wondered the same thing myself.

Maybe someone will enlighten us, same with the cat sith coats. Neither would be my first choices at a release, but I guess we are all different thankfully and art is very subjective and the appreciation personal to each of us.

I do wonder if they are popular purely because people hear the names a lot, so have built up a hype around them...The amount that sit in sales unsold after a release would tend to back this theory up perhaps?

I think just the sheer popularity and the idea of "collecting them all", plus the re-sale values are decent.

It's also personal preference I guess; for me personally, as I'm sure some people will notice based on my user, I'm a major fan of the Cat sith coats! Viserys is an incredible artist and the series is just adorable, probably one of my favourite coat sets ever. I'm sure other animal lovers share the same opinion!

Hennessy has always sold well and the fact that there's a release of their work nearly month can create the mindset for collectors like me who like to own an artist's entire set, that we just have to get it to feel fulfilled. It's a satisfactory factor for sure.

My purchases over the last month. The last coat completed my tchestnut collection (I love those for their shiny, metallic look and missed applying them before they retired).

Re the coat preferences: I love the Hennessy coats for the same reason I love Lissi coats. Their styles are different, but I get the same feeling from both, which is regal and pretty. It's just a look that vibes with me.
I also love how most of Hennessy's coats have the distinctive outlined eyesdefault smiley (l)

I also like having mini collections within my coat collection. It's not possible to collect every single coat, so those mini collections, whether it's all the coats by one creator, or a series by a creator, are a way to fulfill that feeling of completion. It's an added fun bonus when you already like a coat.

I like Hennessy's style but i do only go for the ones i particularly like. As for the cat sith coats, for me it's definitely about having the 'full' collection.

Thanks for the responses everyone! I definitely agree with you haffyfan, it is great that art is so subjective and everyone can find something that they enjoy!

I personally just love the style this artist uses, especially the ones that are really soft.

Using the discussion about Hennessy and the Viserys' Cat-sith coats as a jumping off point, how about the next theme being your favorite creator and some favorite creations by them?

I realized after the last coat release in September that I've been collecting coats by Aklag Namtsae on accident. I just really enjoy their art style and how fantasy-driven their inspiration seems to be.

Oh for me it’s probably nash12’s art style, started with Valkyrie’s and grew from there. If I had the money I’d collect everyone one of their coats default smiley (7)default smiley (l)
