This thread is here to show off your Retired Coats. This is not the place to post non retired coats. **The two exceptions would be coats that have been pulled (brief discussions) and the pre release coats.

REMEMBER:

******** absolutely no sales talk, no talk about spares or how many extras of a copy you got and selling them to fund your RC habit this is just a place to talk RCs

* although links and graphics are ok on this thread, they are not allowed normally on public forums

* any negative or unkind comments on artists or coats (or anyone!) will be removed, and depending on the case, it might mean an instant forum ban.

* DO NOT use this as a place to sell your horse/coats-if you feel the need to break this rule, it will mean an instant forum ban...

** Sales ads are NOT allowed in any public forums. Asking for spare coats will now be considered a sales ad. This includes stating that you plan to sell a coat, or point out coats for sale in sales.

* Do not use this place as a spot for rants or complaints-About coats/BG/or each other.

* This is not the place to ask players to price your coats, or to ask others the worth of a coat, you can check uses on your own by hovering your mouse over the gray apple and price it from there.

* This is not the place to bring up the subject of stolen images. Keep in mind that the rules of the BP used to be very different, and many old coats are from that time.
There is not any reason to bring that up, or report the coats.

*Please do not do a coat countdown for soon to retire coats.

* Please do not post coats that are currently in the GA and have either not retired, or will never retire.

* Please do not post coat/bg combos or ask opinions on them, except following coat release.

* Some coats may be removed in the future, whether that be for problems with the coats itself or just because they're clearing room on the server to allow other coats to be uploaded - if you're buying retired coats, please keep that in mind. If you want a permanent copy, I would recommend saving the graphic to your computer

* How to discover who many uses a New GC coat will retire-There is now a coat countdown in the GA, and it will show how many have been used and how many uses there are left.

** There is now a new creations directory which shows all coats. Go to Community>>>Directories>>>Creations>>>Click more criteria, and on the left hand side is a gold and silver apple. Click the silver apple and search to see all retired coats.

* To see who created/how many uses/name/or if you have it already of a RC coat, simply click on the silver apple, and it will tell you.

*** Posting links to other player's coats is NOT allowed and can mean a forum ban.

It does indeedy - and the 'new' creation space is 10 years old by that too default smiley (lol) no wonder newer players think we are all nuts and often initially have no idea when we talk about pre creation space coats

I'm never going to forget how different it was before the change, how the Black Pearl was very rarely on offer, followed by the rush to try and get a coat done for it before it went away again. If I recall right as well, coats could be retired by their creator after reaching a certain amount of uses. Hard to believe it's been a decade since that happened.

I wasn't around before the creation space was born, but thankfully have collected all the remaining Pre CS coats. But i had heard that before the CS, the black pearl was only sporadically offered. My understanding is that after a Pre CS coat reached 100 uses, it could be retired. But if the creator left before that, it would retire with them, which is still the case. I also heard that initially there was a time that it could be retired at any number of uses, and some players took full advantage of that, and retired their coats before you needed both hands to count the copies on, so they came up with the 100 use rule. I also heard that players could retire their coats, and them randomly reopen them, but that's all i know about that. I like the CS, it sounds far less complicated and unpredictable than the old way.default smiley :)

That did happen but only a very small handful of players really played that system and yes it's why they brought in the 100 copy rule as i assume they realised that a couple of players were making far more than the [please correct me if i'm remembering incorrectly] 1 pass everytime 5 copies were used by holding their coats effectively to ransom.



I think that was the thrill, collecting was exciting as you didn't know what might retire or when! And when they did it was pot luck finding a copy (or finding you had it) and no vultures profiteering constantly.

Plus of course no mad dashes on release day and most of the copies appearing in sales 2 mins later at vastly inflated prices. You collected the coats you liked in hopes they might retire...

Hmmm...i could see some liking that system. And it might have been better back when there were far fewer coats and sporadic releases. But with the number of coats we have now, and new ones coming out regularly, a collector like me would go mad playing those guessing games. I would miss out on so much due to not being able to afford to get all the ones i like, which i would hate. I much prefer knowing when a coat is going to retire. Yes, releases can be stressful, and i totally agree with the profiteering vultures being frustrating (especially when they snatch up a bunch of copies of the same limited coat just to sell so high moments later), but at least i know i can get the coat, if i'm fast or wiling to pay the amount. But it would be constantly stressful every day wondering what coat is gonna go silver next. I just personally couldn't hardly stand it. I guess its how they say, different strokes for different folks lol.default smiley :)

Oh, and i didn't know they got a pass for every five uses back then! I understand now its a set so much per voted in coat, with a limited coat getting x amount of passes, and an unlimited coat getting like twice as many passes. Makes me wonder what the pass prize was for a voted in HOG back in the day!default smiley (8)

Showing my age but I remember when creators could retire there creations at anytime with no usage requirements. The could even unretire them as well.

Seeing how few copies remained of the above coat made me go look at the directories. This time last year the lowest use coat I had in my collection was 3 uses..now I have several that are 3 and under. Even a solo use to my excited surprise.
Older collectors might fund some surprises in their herds now as well.

Wow congrats! My two rarest use coats (my lowest RC uses include one 24 use and two 25 uses) almost never budge. They've been at those numbers for a good long while lol. How you get uses that low (3) to drop even lower is beyond me!default smiley xd I know its not in your control but still lol...

Am I the ONLY one here who 'cries' every time she sees that one of her fave coats has lost a copy?
Like, I understand from a collector's standpoint that the coat is now worth more, BUT(!!), it seems like such a waste and such a terrible loss when another copy gets sent to oblivion default smiley :(

I don't cry, but it is truly bittersweet. i'm sad that a beautiful copy is gone, but like you said, it also is exciting because it makes my copy that much more valuable. But i don't sell my copies anyway, so i know it doesn't make much sense lol, but it does makes them that much more special/valuable to me, as the owner. And if the sky was falling and i had to sell, then that extra value will come in handy. I'm the same way with my physical (rather than pixel) collections...i want them to be as valuable as possible, even though i have no plans to actually sell unless i'm absolutely forced to. I guess i take some pride in them.

As someone who tries to fund a lot of their game by selling a few copies, but can never seem to get them all, I think the worst is the people who buy large numbers of copies and sell them fairly cheaply. They stop people getting copies in release AND stop people like me selling a few to people who'd rather pay later than get on at release time.

Maybe it's time they brought in a limit on how many copies you can buy at main release: maybe just one or two copies. Maybe one a day after that if they are still available.

Hate to say it, but it's at the point where I almost wouldn't mind another limit in place, too.

I used to enjoy breeding a nice cross bred skiller for a higher limit coat I quite liked, but I don't dare take my time applying the 200-300 use coats anymore because of the large application and resell amounts of late.

I'm almost disappointed now, I have 2 with 3 copies and 4 with 4 copies. Was kind of hoping I'd have at least a 2 uses, oh well never mind default smiley :p


I suspect most collectors would be happy to be limited to only having 1 copy of a limited use coat per player via the GA, but I suspect a lot of players in general would not be so happy about it! Considering how many copies of 100 use coats sit in sales we either have less die hard collectors now or they are of similar mindset to myself in regards being quite selective about coats they miss getting themselves.

Only PreCS coats can be manually retired by the creator, but it has to reach at least 100 uses first.

Haffy, my suggestion was one or two at the main release, so with the VIP as well that would be 2 or 3. So allowing for people to get a coat for themselves and one to sell, but not allowing folks with a fast connection to buy large numbers. Then if there are coats left, maybe you could buy a copy a day of the limited ones. So, they'd still sell out, people could still get multiple copies if they wanted and they were available, but there'd be more chance for everyone who wanted to get at least one copy.

Would be interesting to see how it worked in practice.

I would be open to a limit on copies bought at release trial, to see if it would work. Then later you can buy as many as you want. I wouldn't limit them to just one, but two or three sounds ok. I'm frustrated by those who snatch too many of a coat at release to sell high, and I can also understand RowanGreens frustration with those who snatch up too many just to sell them cheaply. We cant tell people what they can or cant sell their copies for, but a limit could help regulate the problem. My situation is a little different as I do not fund my game by selling RCs. Nor do I care if they are higher use limited coats. If they are going to retire, I get them for my collection. I also use unlimited coats. It's all about building my collection with RCs and any coats I like. I dont sell them. So I guess it's different for me than those who buy to sell.

For me personally I refuse to spend the absolute crazy price for a new 100 use coat that only cost the seller 100 passes. I don't mind someone making a little profit but I am not paying for their game.
