Hello there!
As my username suggests, I've decided to get back into this game following a sudden burst of nostalgia. Back in the day (and God do I feel old as I'm typing this) I treated this game as a horse collecting sim lol. I didn't care much about anything at all, just getting as many horses as possible and creating families with them (and consequently getting stressed when my low income job couldn't pay for their upkeep - anyone else remember the jobs function?).
I expected to click around for a bit before dropping this account but I was honestly surprised to see the many ways in which the game had changed, especially when I was greeted by some girl named Emma instead of my friendly old pal, the white monkey. RIP to Ow, I suppose.
What I found instead was a thriving (and surprisingly competitive lol) community! It was nothing short of a shock to see how many players were still active and passionate about breeding the best possible horses. After looking around for a bit, I realized pretty much everyone was busy doing their own thing - people collecting coats, people trying to breed very specific skills, people trying to crossbreed; and teams, which I don't remember existing before. All in all, as I already said, community. And I got curious. I wanted to try to do my own thing as well.
However, I found myself confused by many things I didn't bother to read the first time around. A short and hopefully unfinished list of things I've managed to understand so far:
- the concept of foal games (thank you, Dr Zig)
- BLUP and how it can reach 100 (rides count for the training, apparently)
- skilling/bolding
- donkeys and draft horses (?) can only breed three times; this is important due to reasons I have yet to research
- GP
There are still many features I don't understand but so far I've been having fun. I have even achieved a dream of mine that I used to have back when I was a child playing a game in a language I couldn't yet understand properly: I finally have an unicorn in my account! Now I just need to figure out how their coverings and their sixth foal mechanics work. All in due time.
But my main goal right now is to focus on getting better Curly horses. No specific reason for this choice, I just think they're cute.
All of this to say that so far I am enjoying my time here! I predict the game will keep my interest for at least a little while longer and I look forward to the results I'll get.
