If anyone is willing to sell a horse with this retired coat ("Starboy" by horsedraw), I am interested in buying. Please PM me! (:
Name Explanations (mostly for my own records; I started this game again literally just so I could name horses based off of their pedigree):
Nashira - a star in the constellation Capricornus {deceased}
Vivien - the Lady of the Lake, adoptive mother of Sir Lancelot {deceased}
Guinevere - Sir Lancelot's lover, King Arthur's queen {deceased}
High Queen Lilith - Guinevere was the high queen of Great Britian, Lilith is the name of a female demon {deceased - 200+ dressage winnings after a slew of losings at the start of her career}
Royal Blue Eden - in keeping with the theme of nobility, blue for I've Got the Blues (sire), Lilith, said to be Adam's first lover, was banished from the Garden of Eden {deceased}
True Blue Genesis - the name Caleb means "dog" or "wholehearted/faithful", "true-blue" is a synonym of "loyal" and happens to coincide with the blue theme, Genesis is the book of the Bible in which the events of the Garden of Eden unfold {deceased}
Her Highness Mariana - in keeping with the theme of nobility, Gaius Marius was a Roman general and politian and was commemorated by the name Mariana upon his death, don't want everything blue, but might come back to royal colors (Tyrian purple) {deceased}
Stella Maris - means "star of the sea" in Latin, which is also apparently what Mariana means
Nimue - one of the more common names of King Arthur's adoptive mother, wanted to circle back to the Lady of the Lake since I'll never breed Vivien, and it is in theme with water and higher powers
Striker - a blacksmith's striker is usually his apprentice who swings a sledgehammer during forging
Ali'i Nui - in keeping with the theme of nobility, ali'i nui was what the monarchs of Hawaii were called for a time--sire's name is Kona, which is Hawaiian for "leeward side of the island", plus he's got few spots, like a little cluster of islands {deceased - over 250 coverings}
Tyrian Purple - an expensive and rare dye made from sea snails, often associated with royalty, wealth, and power, plus blue and red make purple! {deceased - 124-time gallop champion, 109 coverings}
Lollipop Dahlia - paternal greatgranddam (or something like that) is named Lolly, the Chinese lantern dahlia is a beautiful, vibrant orange flower {deceased - won me my first rosette ever}
Snapdragon - ever since I was looking to name Lollipop Dahlia, I've wanted to give this name to a horse, and lo and behold, it's also the name of an apple, not too original, but it's feisty and I like it {deceased - 14-time rosette winner}
Nevermore Elvirra - sire's name is Now or Never, "elviira" is a type of rhododendron, which are in bloom everywhere right now {retired}
Crisanto - meaning "golden flower" in Greek, sire Tigga's name did not lend much inspiration
Loves Me Not - didn't have much to go off of on sire's side, but a grandsire (I think) was named Tears, which could be interpreted to mean rip, and in movies, there's a trope where a girl tears petals from a flower, saying, "He loves me. He loves me not...", and I guess if you land on "loves you not", you might find that sad and cry... Yeah, this one is a couple layers deep. I guess what I'm trying to say is he's a little heartbreaker. ;) {deceased - 105-time gallop champion, 116+ coverings}
Seattle Rain - thought it sounded cool and racehorse-y, plus, it's been raining a bit lately {deceased - 1-time rosette winner}
Seattle Rogue - sire's named Outlaw
Too Pretty For Seattle - a phrase I heard from a vain individual on some show, but I thought it'd make for a good racehorse name, unfortunately, the Greek Wanderer's Spirit made her a minotaur, so she's no longer very pretty and the name doesn't really suit her... :( {deceased - 115-time rosette winner. 148 total gallop racing wins}
Tokyo Snow - had the idea since Seattle Rain because...
I missed that train, New York City, it rains // Fly to east LA in big jet planes // You know you're on my mind // All the lights aglow, Tokyo snows // Go to watch the show, curtains close ۰ ᴍɪɴᴅ ᴏᴠᴇʀ ᴍᴀᴛᴛᴇʀ - ʏᴏᴜɴɢ ᴛʜᴇ ɢɪᴀɴᴛ
Kyoto Firethorn - back to flowers also known as pyracantha
September Snow - born in September...
California King - I know it's a mattress size, but sire's name is American Pharoah, and I couldn't think of another city/state that sounded good on the spot
Pretty Privilege - thought it a neat racehorse name and a callback to granddam, also sire's named Crown Prince, so she comes from privilege... finally a chestnut :D
Fiorello Twist - fiorello apparently means "little flower" in Italian, and sometimes the traditional lollipop is twisted into shape {retired}
Jacinto Valentino - was considering "Jacinto", meaning hyacinth in Spanish and Portuguese, for Fiorello, didn't want to leave the sire out, so I figured candy (lollipops) + hearts = Valentine's Day... {deceased - 118 coverings}
Dreams Of Summer - dam named Where Summer Glows, sire named Dreams Keeper {deceased - 99-time rosette winner, the matriarch of a legacy, one of my best horses in her prime, died at the ripe, old age of 40 yrs 8 mos}
Mischievous Dreaming - sire named Monkey's Up to Something {deceased - 77-time rosette winner}
Miss Lucidity - "miss" from mischievous, and "lucidity" in relation to lucid dreaming {retired - 121-time rosette winner, I peaked with this one}
Ꮗᴀᴛᴄʜ ɪɴ Ꮗᴏɴᴅᴇʀ - thought it a fitting name for a star, also...
I know that you'll never feel like I do // I will break into pieces right in front of you // I will burn down the city // String up the noose // And you'll watch in wonder۰ ᴘᴜᴛ ɪᴛ ᴏɴ ᴍᴇ - ᴍᴀᴛᴛ ᴍᴀᴇsᴏɴ
Made To Dream - sire's name is Made To Jump; Miss Lucidity gives me everything I want :D {deceased - 52-time rosette winner}
Saintess Mora - sire's named Saint Assisi, in certain cultures, like Greece, Cyprus, and the Slovak language, Mora is one of the names of a female demon who sits on a sleeper's chest and causes nightmares, basically a sleep paralysis demon, which I think is fitting given the dream theme and her Book of Monsters coat {15-time rosette winner, more comfortable in lower-stakes competitions (101 wins)}
Amaysi's Skylark - "skylarking" is a synonym for monkey business and Amaysi is the name of Sandman's sister, according to legend
Lark's Silly Serenade - sire named MonkeysSoSilly, skylarks are known for the males' song, which is sung at a hover some 50-100m in the air, seeing as he specializes in show jumping, I think it's fitting
Nightmare Ink - sire named Giant Squid
Iridescent Reverie - has the coat of a pigeon
Lawless Dream - Matt Maeson song title I thought would make a cool name
There's nothing behind me // I'm up in the air, it's // my lawless dream // Where no one can find me // Awake in my head...۰ ᴍʏ ʜᴀɴᴅ/ʟᴀᴡʟᴇss ᴅʀᴇᴀᴍ - ᴍᴀᴛᴛ ᴍᴀᴇsᴏɴ
Dreaming Awake - misheard the lyrics to SMYL's Something Beautiful and Bright, but it gave me the perfect idea for a continuation of my line of dreamers {first of my horses to break 28,000+ GP}
Desert Delirium - sire's name is
Desert Mania, figured "delirium" was a good dream word...
Midsummer Sundae - dam named
Where Summer Glows, sire named Monkey 8 All D'
Ice Cream {sold}
Santa Muerte - Mexican deity of death, has lots of references to death in her pedigree (dam - Boo, grandsire - Pestilencio), plus Mustangs are descendent of Spanish horses {sold}
Rey Pascualito - based off of the title of another Mexican/Guatemalan skeletal folk saint of death, also rey translates to king, which corresponds with Ali'i Nui's theme {229-time trail class champion}
Othnielia de Vailant - his dam's name (Valerie) means healthy and strong, stemming from the word valiant, Othniel means "God's lion" and lions are valiant, brave, courageous, added "ia" to make it girly, but apparently that's the name of a dinosaur lol {sold}
Ecliptic - I've sorta wanted to name a horse after the path the sun takes in the celestial sphere for a bit now, and it's perfect 'cause his mama's name is Nova {sold}
Carabosse - the name of the wicked fairy who cursed a princess because she wasn't invited to her christening/didn't receive a golden case/plate, the character Disney's
Maleficent is based off of {sold}
Mistress Of All Evil - in Disney's Maleficent, the wicked fairy calls herself this {deceased}
Witch Hunt - evil fairy => witches, chasing => hunting
Sorceress Con Panna - a bit of a play on espresso con panna (espresso with whipped cream) since her sire's name is inspired from the cinnamon dolce latte {181-time trail class champion}
Crema Enchantress - crema is the pale foamy top layer of an espresso shot, enchantress another word for sorceress and witch
Arabica Blossom - named after the coffee flower, which is white like her!
Asunaro - a Japanese cypress
Wicked Suns - I feel like this one is pretty self-explanatory
Caradoc - in a more modern retelling of the wicked fairy, her son, by the name of Caradoc, tries to seduce the princess and avenge his mother
Chasing the Sun - not super original, but sire's name is
Helios, and I just thought it was neat, also... {sold}
We won't just fall away // We weren't just born to fade // Our stories are past the horizon // We're chasing the sun till we find them۰ ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ ᴛʜᴇ sᴋɪᴇs ᴇɴᴅ - sᴛᴀʀsᴇᴛ
Ivory For Gold - I bought him to fulfill the objective of removing a unicorn's horn because I can't give Othnielia's up yet, so I traded "ivory for gold" to earn passes... Gosh, it hurt, though; he was so beautiful... {sold}
Crown Prince Folktāl - paternal grandsire's name is With
Legend and his maternal grandsire's name is Le Petit
Prince, folktale was too long, so I used "ā" to mimic the /eɪ/ sound without having to fit the "e" at the end
--after regrettably removing Ivory's horn, I realized I don't want to be breeding Paints when Othnielia fails to produce a unicorn, so too late, I've shifted to Marwari unicorns because they're prettier {sold}
Lady Selene - Greek goddess and personification of the
moon, was trying to incorporate sire
Victory but couldn't find a combination I liked enough; as a side note, apparently there was a real racehorse named Victory Moon, but sadly he was put down in 2009 after fracturing his leg :( {sold}
Princess In The Moon - a bit of a twist on "the man in the moon", don't love the name "princess", but it follows Crown Prince Folktale's theme
Duchess Seraphina - sticking to the royal theme, Seraphina means "burning ones" from the seraphim in Jewish scripture
Good Ama Lurra - sire named Good Sunday, Amalur or Ama Lurra is Mother Earth in Basque mythology because she has the Gregarious coat
Sunday Sentry - sire named Good Sunday, named after a solider stationed to keep guard since she is fully adorned in knight tack
Gilded Huntress - sire's named Golden Veil
Grand Duke Callisto - Callisto is the name of one of Jupiter's moons, I'm aware that it's a girl's name, but I think it suits him
Marchioness Europa - Europa is the name of another of Jupiter's moons, known to have a water ocean beneath its surface
Nautical Twilight - sire's name meaning "brave" and dam's name meaning "
white" or "
dawn", which made me think of the milky whitishness of predawn, which can apparently be referred to (usually in the military) as nautical twilight, when the sun is a certain degree under the horizon {sold}
Dusk Reaper - dusk is the time after twilight and reaper keeps Rey Pascualito's death theme going
Cinnamon Dolce - his family tree's just made up of a bunch of numbers, so I tried to find inspiration in his breed, but the "Ban'ei" horse is kind of not even its own breed, rather a mix of Bretons, Percherons, and Belgians bred either for the ban'ei races in Hokkaido, in which the horses pull a sledge weighing anywhere from 990lbs to 1 ton over two sand ramps in a 660-foot track, or for meat
( •᷄∩•᷅ )--not the sort of rich or beautiful history I was hoping for, but I was surprised to learn they were Japanese and it makes me wonder how Howrse has Ban'ei drafts but not Clydesdales... Anyway, he's the color of cinnamon, but just "Cinnamon" is too basic, soo {sold}
Havarti - have wanted to name a horse this for a bit just because {sold}
All Things Golden - this is a name I thought of for a real colt, Sage, who unfortunately was stillborn, because his mother's name is
Sunflower Starbert and his sire's name is HH Jetalito
Gold Bar, he wasn't my horse or anything, but his owner posted Sunflower's pregnancy journey on Instagram @sagepony {sold}
Bleu's the New Gold - blue as in the cheese
Alpenglow - meaning a pink, purple, or reddish optical illusion of light seen on the horizon opposite the rising or setting sun, chose a hiking term for him since he was obtained during the hiking event
Black Cypress - been wanting to get into the theme of evergreens and the like, and black after his coat color {sold}
Fern Leona - a unique street name I saw one time {sold}
Painted Lady Leona - a painted lady is a type of fern
Lemon Button Leon - lemon button is another type of fern, Leon being the male alternative, thought it was cute
Boston Imperial - the lemon button fern is actually a dwarf variety of the Boston fern, the chrysanthemum is a symbol of the Emperor and Imperial family in Japanese culture
Kimberly Queen Leona - Kimberley Queen is a type of fern
Dewberry Dancer - purchased to boost the prestige and participance of my dressage competition, the Dewberry Falls Championship, grandsire named Monkey
DanceAllNight and granddam named MizzyIs
Dancing {sold}
EB Inflorescence - also purchased to fill the Dewberry (previously Elderberry) Falls Dressage Championship roster and boost competition prestige, EB for elderberry and inflorescence refers to how the flowers of the elderberry are arranged as they grow {sold}
Bruce Blue Spruce - purchased to fill Hemlock Stable's Spruce Hills Challenge cross-country event (-2,000p (´ཀ`」 ∠)), it's a little stupid, but I used to have a baby blue spruce named Bruce, so that's what this bud's named after {sold}
Howl - hoping to expand my unicorn affix ᴜɴᴜᴍ ᴇʙᴜʀɴᴇᴜᴍ, recently rewatched
Howl's Moving Castle in theaters with some friends and read the book for the first time {sold}
Autumn Aurora - also purchased to expand ᴜɴᴜᴍ ᴇʙᴜʀɴᴇᴜᴍ, extremely unoriginal, but I had no ideas for these new horses except for things going on currently, and fall and northern light sightings are some of those things, though I haven't seen the lights yet {BLUP, breed, & sell}
Autumn Howls - the creative juices are not flowing
Mythica - also purchased for ᴜɴᴜᴍ ᴇʙᴜʀɴᴇᴜᴍ, I've been watching a lot of Good Mythical Morning lately and she is a mythical beast... {sold}
Belvedere - the name of the GMM cockatrice mascot
Something Wicked - name of one of my favorite songs
I've been digging through the dirt that was left behind. I've been trudging through the mud for rain. There's nothing that's alive or dead inside in you or in this. The crucifix in my hand's a lie 'cause nothing ever kills you. I watered down the pain till the well went dry, so pray for rain. And at night, rose to the top again. Back like a long lost friend, a witch that I can't defend. Oh, my God. Is this where the dreamer ends? Dark where the light had been. Lost at the war within. And it crawled back in the world again. Here for a new revenge, an enemy I can't condemn. Oh, my God. Is this where the liar ends? Dark where the light had been. Lost at the war within. Out of myself, I can feel it crawling. How can I tell if this is the ending? Out of myself, it began evolving. I am not well. Repent; I'm guilty. How can I tell if the sky is falling? How can I fix what there is no mending? How can I tell if I am not well? I've lost myself. I have come undone. And all of the horses and all of the men won't put it back in place, so bury it where it had been. When all of the forces have been overrun, you'll whisper, serpent tongue. What you fear, you have become. Something wicked this way comes, something wicked this way comes.
Balsam - was in the midst of purchasing gifts on Candle Day when I dubbed him, New Forest breed
