Molten gold, a stillness reigns
As Apollo makes his descent.
In the trees, one last bird trills
A welcome and a lament.
Artemis rises in the sky
As darkness takes light’s place,
Opposites meeting each other
In dusk’s fiery embrace.
They say nothing gold is permanent,
But neither is ebony--
Don’t fret when the lightness goes away,
He’ll return with his pleasantry.
Until then we hope you’ll enjoy the show
Put on every twilight;
Fiery oranges meeting cold blues,
Day yields to sister night.
Sunsets should not be overlooked
But watched in awe, wide-eyed.
The twins, dynamic as they are,
Leave others pushed aside.
No one builds dusk monuments,
But don’t worry, she’ll be fine--
Wouldn’t it be too much to ask
For a simple little shrine?
We ought not forget her beauty
But remember what she means:
Not just beginnings nor just ends
But glorious in betweens.
Every end means a new start;
In the overlap, great beauty lies,
Found in a final farewell
And the gold that floods the skies.
