My first real experience working with horses was in 2012, when I volunteered as a side walker for Hippotherapy lessons.

Hippotherapy is an awesome learning experience for special needs children/teens. An instructor helps the children with different speech and motor skills while the kids are riding the horses/ponies. My job was either to lead the horse, or walk a long side the children to make sure they were sturdy/safe while riding the horses. It was a really great experience and I definitely recommend this, whether you would like to volunteer, or know a child that would benefit from it
