A 'rescue' (again, I was too little to understand that as well) took me in and cared for me over the next several months. While I was there, I made a friend who was also called 'SH next', until they changed our names. Her new name was 'SHR #19', and mine was 'SHR #26'. I still missed my original name, Daisy, that you gave me when I was born. That was a nice name....
After 2 years at the 'rescue' (I still didn't have a clue what that was), someone 'adopted' me and SHR #19 for a 'fee' of 750e each. Both me and #19 were renamed again.... this time we were both called Breeding Mare. A year later both of us delivered our first foals! Owner named both of them 'SH next 20% health' and sold them to someone for 5000e apiece. I still don't know where they went, or even if they were ok.
At 16 years old, I was in poor health and starving, because Owner was too cheap to feed me. All I do is get covered, and give birth. Most of my foals never even make it to 2 years old. It's a vicious cycle for many of us 'Breeding Mares'. Sadly, my dear friend #19 died a few years ago, along with her unborn foal, when she was 10. I still haven't completely gotten over her death, even after all this time.... She was my best friend, and had always been there for me, from the I had been a stumbling foal. I now know what the 'SH' is..... I learned it the hard way, when one of my foals wouldn't sell. Owner didn't even give us a chance to say goodbye! At least my foal didn't die of starvation, like many of the babies do.
The only good thing to come of all of this is that one of #19's foals survived to adulthood and stayed with me. She is also named 'Breeding Mare', but I've always called her Miracle..... and she calls me mom. Her name is Breeding Mare, but I call her Miracle. She calls me mom.
I was now 18 and Miracle was 5. We both were very skinny- only around 400 lbs each...... and pregnant to boot! Owner suddenly decided she was 'quitting', and that all of her horses would be going to a 'rescue'. Normally, I would have been excited to go, but years of neglect had made me fear all Owners. We were being sold yet again, an all too familiar scene which terrified me.
I was greeted with an plump, juicy apple, and then moved to a warm, cheerful EC, with health mashes and lots and lots of carrots!! I knew then I was going to like this new place. I'm now 19, have gained back more than twice my body weight, and get plenty of love and attention! Both Miracle's and my foal, were adopted by a trusted, honest player, and are doing very well. The rescue (a warm, loving place where unwanted, neglected horses get a second chance), decided to keep both me, and Miracle, so we are never bred again. We are happy and safe now, but my story happens all too often. Virtual pixels or flesh and blood, no horse should ever feel pain, or suffer from the kind of neglect and abuse I endured all those years.
