Barbaro: Undefeated in six starts. The extremely talented colt won the 2006 Kentucky Derby by seven lengths. He was a triple crown hopeful. Sadly the colt shattered his right hind leg two weeks later during the '06 preakness stakes. For eight months the talented bay colt fought for his life, but his condition worsened and his owners made the tough decision to have him put down. Many fans of the colt grieved for the loss.
One of the saddest moments in history....To watch the career of undefeated Colt Barbaro end.
I've been a long time fan of horse racing and I haven't missed a Kentucky Derby since 2011, and almost every year I've gone with a Todd Pletcher trainee...'12, Gemologist finished 16th, '13, Verrazano finished 14th, '14, We Miss Artie finished 10th, '15, Materiality finished 6th, '16, Destin finished 6th...After watching 'Always Dreaming's dominate win in the '17 Florida Derby, I felt this was Todd Pletcher's year and made him my top pick for the 143rd Kentucky Derby, which he delivered as the favorite!! This was a dream come true for meĀ
