Hello,
My name is 1kkurtz. I am a female player (26, and feeling really old!). Now with a little about myself....
I currently live in Wisconsin (USA), and attended college for a degree in Biology with an emphasis in Molecular Biology. I have previously worked as a microbiologist testing many of the foods you eat and drink for different food borne bacteria. When you eat a candy bar, you better think of me and the pain it is to test each of the ingredients.
Currently, I work as a Quality Control associate at a pharmaceutical company. Some current projects I'm involved in is the cancer vaccine and developing low cost generic drugs for people that can't afford the name brand ones.
One of the coolest things about my past schooling was my internship. I got to work with animals of all shapes and sizes. Some of my favorites at the sanctuary include a tiger named Jasmine (she is a beautiful cinnamon colored tiger with a lovely playful personality), a lion named Sheba (who loves her scratches and raw chicken), a whole herd of the sassiest pygmy goats, and cutest little brown and white bull calf named Norman.
Many more types of animals are located at the internship including wolves, foxes, bears, panthers/pumas, lynx, and man more tigers and lions. (I missed some on this list, as there are so many that I forget). Most of the animals were seized from people's homes or other places of residence/work. Unfortunately, people think it is a good idea to keep a large wild cat in their house ( or in even worse cases, small dog kennels), or they keep them to protect their possessions in sketchy business deals. Many of the animals suffer from health issues due to these horrible conditions, but are kept comfortable as possible for as long as possible.
My cat that I keep in my apartment is named Nora. She is a black angora mix breed (basically is a larger sized cat with long soft fur). I got her when she was a little more than 6 weeks old. It was a very young age to be taken away from her mother, but because she was living in a garage that was being stalked by a raccoon and other large animals, I decided it was best for her safety.
My dog is named Story. I adopted her from a high kill shelter in the state of Missouri. I got her when she was 2.5 years old. She is doing very well with obedience training and not chasing the cat.
I grew up working on multiple horse farms, that included not only horses but a wide array of other farm animals including: goats, bunnies, mules, donkeys, pigs, cows, and ducks. I had a couple horses that I rode consistently over the years. One was an extremely tall Quarter Horse named Hodag, and he was a perfect boy for me all the time. While I was working with him I also helped out breeding horses and overseeing everyday barn chores.
After I left the farm that Hodag lived on, I worked on a farm that had many more horses. I had my pick of the lot anytime I wanted to ride. I was in charge of the barn jobs and the other people working under me at the time. It was great, and I got to ride some fantastic horses including a beautiful Fresian mare trained and showed in dressage, a paint gelding trained and showed in barrel racing, a Dutch Warmblood gelding showed in multiple countries in show jumping, and many more exceptional horses.
