How to maximize profit: Helpful Tips for Any Member!
Breeding
Minimize expense, maximize genetic potential!
- Don't get the best covering that money can buy. Unless you have the best mares on the market and are looking to breed a Grand Prix winner, you will lose money by paying for an expensive covering.
- Make these the standard for your stallion checklist:
- Purebred (and the same breed as your mare!)
- 100 BLUP/Completely finished
- $500 to $1000
- Highest genetic potential you can get for the price
- Search for 3000 GP, then keep increasing the # on the search until you are left with one stallion!
Reasoning:
- Breeding a mare = $3000 minimum.
- By following these rules, you will minimize cost.
- If you find yourself within a financial bind, you can sell any foal for $3000 within 30 minutes despite their quality. (From my experimentation, this seems to be the quick-sell maximum for low to average foals. Any price over that for a foal takes longer to sell. However, if you have a foal with high inheritance and GP, you should shoot higher!)
Black Market Items
1. Don't use Horns of Plenty: Sell them instead!
- 1 pass = 50,000 equus on Howrse.
- 1 Horn of Plenty = 1 pass = 300,000 equus on the Item Exchange!
- I know personally that they WILL sell within the day!
- Chances are against you for profitability on using a HOP.
- Try to save them for the market until special runs (i.e. chances of divine horses in HOPs). This will guarantee a quick sell on your HOP.
2. Collect Zeus' Lightning Bolts - Whether buying or breeding unicorns, change them all to mares!
- You can flip a unicorn for exponential profit by buying stallions and selling as mares.
3. Golden Apples Sell.- Unless you can invest it in a quickly retiring coat (200 copies or less) you might as well sell it.
- EVERYBODY wants Golden Apples, so throw them on the item exchange for 300k. I'll bet it'll sell.
